Joann's has a spellbinder grand caliber machine, tote (which fits the Wizard, oddly enough), and 3 dies for $79 online only today (normally $299).
I'm sitting on my hands trying to resist this amazing deal. I already have a Cuttlebug. Sooooo tempted, though!

I love that this machine looks smaller than my Big Kick but that is not enough reason to give in and buy this...right? Hope I can stay strong!

You know, if I'm going to spend $79 on something redundant, I ought to get a Selphy! Okay, talked myself out of it.

for some reason, my nesties do not work well in my Cuttlebug. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've watched all the videos on how to do it.
This may be a good option for me. Going to check it out... |

Have you tried a shim? Also, particularly the more detailed dies, you may need to do a quarter turn and run it through again. |

Yes, I've used a shim.
I don't know how you turn it without messing it up. It always moves on me and I get wonky cuts or embossing.
Thanks. |

I was tempted until I read the reviews. The bag doesn't even fit to carry the machine, plus they aren't grand dies.

I read that about the bag. What's the difference between the grand and the regular? Is it just the size? |

That's a great price! I love my cuttlebug and can't justify it. |

I usually don't have that problem. It can be harder getting the paper OUT of the die. Do you cut with the cut side up? |

DH bought me a Grand Calibur from a HSN special deal a couple of yrs ago -it also came with somes including a set of Grand dies.
I also have the Wizard - which is roughly like a Big Shot - in terms of die sizes it can cut.
I love having the Grand Calibur - because it can cut the larger dies AND because I can cut/emboss many dies all at once.
HOWEVER, the downside is that the height of the openning of the Grand Calibur is really thin - so you can only use it to cut thin dies. I still use my Wizard because I can cut all thicknesses of dies in that one - including those thick Tim HOltz foam/metal dies - it just depends on altering the Wizard's sandwich.
If you want to cut thick dies from TH - you won't be able to do that with the grand Calibur. However, it does crank really smoothly, has that nice large base and is a machine I'm very happy to have!

I saw this earlier and read that the tote doesn't fit the Caliber. Does anyone know if that Wizard tote would fit the cuttlebug?

I honestly don't remember. It's been so long that I've used it.
Which is the best way?
Thanks! |

I don't know if it's the best way or not, but the directions say cut side up. I've done it the other way if I need to be sure where the die will cut (over an image or greeting) but I otherwise put the cut ridges up.
If you're worried about the paper shifting when you need to turn it you could always put a piece of painter's or washi tape in a couple of spots on the outside edge. |
