I've generally stored my papers separately by color in custom built (by DH) paper slots. But now that I'm getting more collections, I think it would be wise to store the collections together.
Does anyone have any tried and true methods for storage for these? I have an expandable file thingy that is 12X12, but the embellies seem to get lost in the bottom.
I do have an expedit if that helps me at all!
Thanks in advance

I keep my collections in the clear packaging it comes in, or if it does tear, I put it in a 2 gallon ziploc. I then keep them in cloth cube that I got from Target. It fits right inside a cube on my expedite. This works great for me. I can just flip through them all to see which collection I want to use. I do keep the paper that has the name of the collection and a picture of all the papers in there in the front of the bag so I can readily see which one it is.
All the scraps from that collection go back on the bag until most of the collection is used up, then they go in my scrap basket.

That's a good idea. Where do you find the two gallon ziplocs?

At the Dollar Tree. Or Walmart, or generally any store that sells, sandwich, storage, freezer bags. Just make sure it is two gallon.
If I have collections with several embellishments, I store mine in the 12x12 Iris boxes from Michaels. I can fit several collections in one box.

Funny, I've shopped for ziplocs a zillion times in my life and have NEVER noticed 2 gallon bags! Now I feel silly.

The 2 gallon bags are also in super markets. I think the cubes from Target are the Itso cloth cubes.

I use the Paper Scrap holders by the Paper Studio at HL ($6 for 3, but often on sale). They have a pouch in the middle for 12" paper, and a half-size pouch on either side for long strips, embellishments, etc.
I've also used the Cropping Companion folders, which have significantly bigger pouches with velcro, as well as Power Palette Organizers by Creative Memories, but both of those are much more expensive (though sturdier!).

I do the exact same thing as ScrappinNut except mine are stored in a large white basket I bought on clearance at M's eons ago. I have had to refresh the white paint but it holds a ton! It is 13x13 inside and the basket overall is 8" tall.
Yes, it is stuffed full so I have a lot of collections! In my defense though, if I have the matching 6x6 pad, I store that with the rest of the collection so that adds a little bulk! |

I keep the paper in Cropper Hopper boxes separated by their plastic tabbed dividers. I like vertical storage I can flip through. I keep all of my sticker sheets and embellishments together, separated out from the collections because I like to mix and match.
I do keep kits in the 2 gallon bags. Fwiw, I haven't ever seen them at my local dollar stores (and yes I have specifically looked) but Publix grocery seems to carry then regularly.

I currently use the Iris boxes, but I have actually been pondering breaking my collections down. Too often I see layouts I love and think "that would be awesome, but I need to go shopping first". Lately, the more I look through my stash, the more I find that I already have the necessary items, and I generally find them in an Iris box with a collection. Over the next few days, I think I might take the die cut sheets, sticker sheets, and embellies, and organize those in a separate place. |

I used to also store in bags, but put mine in a vintage metal milk crate.
I store mine by manufacturer rather than collection/line. For companies I have one bag for the paper, and one bag for embellishments.
A few months ago I went back to sorting all of my embellishments by type rather than company. I still sort paper by company.

Tinkgumby, those look awesome, and I think I could use those for page planning too, as much of my scrapping is done on the go now. TFS!

Great question Willscrapforfood. Currently I have some of my favorite collections in those CropperHopper paper files. They're tabbed, open-top envelope type pouches. I usually get them at A's w. a coupon. And I have these filed in an old box from 2Peas with the top flaps cut off. However, I really like the idea of using the cloth cubes. I didn't realize that they were big enuff for 12x12 stuff. Will have to check them out. Thanks everyone for their ideas. Maria

This is how I store my K&Co paper collections and embellishments. I insert left-over scraps into the paper pads with the particular collection that they belong. So far, this has worked pretty well for me.

I do exactly what scrappinut does. Some embellishments I keep with the collection, but if they are pretty versatile I put it on my clip it up.

I had a lot of trouble finding the 2 gallon bags. None at my Walmart and Dollar Tree in my town didn't have them but the one in the next town did.

I store mine in either the 2 gallon freezer bags, michaels 13x13 plastic folders or studio calico crop bags ( there my favorite, but there pricey) I keep all items from the same collection together including the paper.. I then keep the bags in my white drawer units from ms! I'm still looking for a better way to store them since my drawers are full at the moment and i need to move things around! The basket or fabric cube idea sounds nice! Good question thanks for askin it! |
