I know this is Sunday evening, but this is starting out to be a stressful week and I did not want to forget to start the thread.

I noticed on the last thread that Leisa was asking about the Calorie Cropper's Motto for this year. I posted it on the first thread of the year, but have forgotten to post it since. I will try to remember to post it on the weekly threads. Here it is:

Calorie Croppers Motto for 2013:

"When you improve a little bit each day, eventually big things occur. Don't look for big, quick improvement. Instead, seek small improvement one day at a time. That's the only way it happens -- and when it happens, it lasts." ~ John Wooden

Marilyn, I will try to remember to come back and post the recipe for the German Fresh Apple Bread for you.

My goals for this week:
Work on Valentine card
Try a new recipe
Drink more water

Other than that, my dad was taken to the hospital this evening from the nursing home with a fever and crackles in his lungs. We have not heard back yet with a diagnosis, but we are concerned that it could be pneumonia or the dreaded flu. They say that the nursing home and the little town he's in have a lot of people down with the flu. It is so icy outside here that I'm not sure I could safely get Mom to the car, the roads aren't likely to be that great and I'm prone to catching respiratory illnesses and can't have antibiotics short of a life-threatening emergency due to allergies, so I am not keen on getting exposed to whatever he has. We feel bad that we aren't there, but he is very confused this evening and likely would not know us. So we feel that the best thing is to do all that we can to keep well. Since we do not know what will happen with Dad this week, I don't know how much I will be online.

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad, Betsy. I am praying for a quick recovery for him and safety for you and your Mom as you travel to see him.

No big plans for the week; I started some Halloween layouts over the weekend (my favorite to scrap) and hope to finish those up today. When I do I will try to post them.

I have to return a doggy toy to the store today...It was listed as "indestructible" (8/10 on the indestructibility scale) and Boo Radley chewed a hole in it in 20 minutes. I guess he will have to learn to be satisfied with deer antlers!

hi, everyone

I updated my signature to show the motto--thanks, Leisa for reminder.. I had it on my to do list but didn't get a chance to. This past weekend has been so hectic. Honestly with surprise birthday party then sunday i had a terrible migrance that wouldn't go away--combination of smoke (his side of family are all smokers) ugh, and time of month. it was bit much for me yesterday. I went to bed early with kids and this morning, I'm feeling so much better and ready to work on some more things.

Betsy--sending ton of hugs and prayers your way--you certainly have alot on your plate right now. I'm working on couple things for our group and will send the information to you. so sorry for delay but life sure have taken over for us. lol just remember you need to take care of yourself and your mom as well.

Marilyn-- ooh, Halloween layouts I can't wait to see it.. I'm behind on getting my pictures develop but I'm hoping to work on this in March once bf start his job and i can work on the budget planning.

so for this week--finish organize my ribbons, brads, and my sizzix dies inventory list.. then on first is LOAD.. I'm so looking forward to it.

Michele

Here's a link to one of my layouts; for some reason, the second page is not showing. I will try to upload two more but the phone app is running slow for me today.

Beware! Nancy Drew is on the case!

Here's a second one, about my youngest daughter:

I have been doing very well with drinking water. I have been doing
some cardio. I also tried the Insanity DVD. Yeah, no. I won't be doing more than a quick warmup if I ever try that again.

Weight related:

Stay away from sweet drinks. I've been doing well with that but need to stop the vanilla creamer in my coffee completely. Too much sugar and calories. I have been doing fat free calorie free but it's basically taste free too.

Cardio daily!

Personal:

Decide on going to Friday crop...I'm still waffling. If it's going to be as cold as it has been I may stay home in my jammies and scrap. I do miss the girls though.

Go to grocery store and stock up again. Amazing how much a really skinny teenage dude can eat.

Make a greeting card.

Try something new--anything! I think I'm getting too complacent and stagnant in my activities.

Got back from the hospital awhile ago. Dad has pneumonia and his test came back positive for flu. He does not look good and is obviously struggling. We are fearing the worst, but trying to hope for the best. Thanks for all the hugs and prayers!

Made a big pot of corn chowder after we got home and added several cloves of garlic. I picked out some recipes to try this week: Glazed Apple Cookies, Sour Cream Noodle Bake and Amish Chicken Corn Soup. Will see if I get time to cook and bake.

Marilyn, I haven't posted the Apple Bread recipe yet. I had trouble with the recipe and Gooseberry Patch is going to check and try to figure out what went wrong. Poor Boo Radley! I bet he was sad when his new toy was ruined. So much for indestructible.

Michele, thanks for helping come up with ideas. I've had so much on my plate with Dad that I have not had time to look for ideas so your help is much appreciated. Glad you are feeling a bit better today.

Love the goals you gals have posted for this week. Keep up the good work!

hi, girls

It just seem like the week is flying by.. I hardly been in my scraproom.. I think I just so tire from being up early with kids then keeping busy and do my cleaning around them. Tuesday was a big major disaster day as my main water pipe broke.. ugh didn't know until i went down the basement to do my laundry and huge flood at first i thought it was rain runoff bc sometime that does happen but then i saw major pool in a small room that use to store veggies and stuffs for winter--then i realize it was way more then just rain castoff... yep saw ton of rushing water coming in from the pipe so my day was spent in calling water company to shut water off as i had no shut off value, getting plumber out here to fix which include excavate to dig up my driveway ugh to replace whole things as the previous plumber who install the water system did not use the right pipe.. at all so there go my budget for month.. lol i am crossing finger that my insurance will cover some of it.. just praying for that...so last night i decide to finish up my sizzix red dies inventory and take break and start scrappin.. lol

Marilyn--love those layouts you posted..

Staci--I'm finding how hard it is to find the right exercise DVD.. Hope it warm up for you go to you crop..

Betsy--Hugs! i have couple ideas listed plan to look for some more tomorrow and send you peamail..

well, kiddos want me to sit with them and watch a movie.. chat with you girls later.

OMG Michele...I am so sorry about the house!! While I love, love, LOVE owning our own home, the maintenance things are such a pain in the butt and make renting VERY tempting.

Betsy...hope you get a positive update about Dad today. What is his first name? I'd love to pray for him by name.

Staci...I know what you mean about not going out in the cold weather! I think for me it is the combination of the cold and getting dark so early; that's why I do NOT like winter. I will take 100F over 30F any day!

I've been getting a little bit done in my scrap room every day; will try to post a layout I did about baby Boo Radley later today.

Marilyn, thank you! His name is Jerry and I really appreciate all the prayers for him. The news is not good. They also found he had sepsis in addition to the other things. He has improved some, but not as much as the doctor had hoped and he doesn't hold much hope for recovery. I am so sad! My heart is heavy and I've cried a lot. I'm determined to trust God in this, even though I'm heartbroken at the prognosis. ETA: the most pressing issue at this time, is that he can't eat without choking, which means he will get pneumonia. He is eager to eat. Please pray that he will be able to swallow without choking so that he can eat and take his medications.

Did you post the layout of little Boo Radley? Can't wait to see it!

Michele, so sorry about your house! Hope you were able to get your insurance to cover it.
