I feel like I'm doing something wrong and I don't know what it is. Yesterday, I bought a 2" square punch from M's, took it out of the packaging, and tried to use it. No matter how hard I squeezed, the top part wouldn't go all the way through the bottom part. So I returned it, got a new one, and the same thing is happening. As soon as I took it out of the package today, I tried using it, and it *looked* like it was functioning correctly. I go to actually punch a square, and the same thing that happened yesterday happened again. Is there some kind of trick to using this thing? Or have I really just been lucky enough to get two poopy punches in a row? Please tell me there's some little secret to making this darn thing work. TIA!!! |

If it doesn't look like it has any metal beads or something around the edge of the actual die that could be interfering, you probably were lucky enough to get two in a row. It could be a bad batch.
I had the same thing happen with an EK success punch. |

I looked, and there is absolutely nothing obstructing it. I'm bummed because I got it for a good deal - it was only $5.99. But, when I went to return it today, I picked up the last one off the shelf. |

I had a punch that wasn't punching all the way. I called the company and they told me to put it in the freezer. It does something to the springs in the punch. Sure enough it works better now. I'm not sure it will work in your case but it is worth a try. |

Weird, but I'll try anything at this point. Lol. How long did you leave it in the freezer for? Do you find that you have to freeze it often, once it started working? |

I left mine in for a few hours. I have put it back in one time since when it again wasn't working properly. It helped for a long while but the punch finally gave out. |

I'm having the exact same problem with my M's punches, squares and circles and stars. Personally I think they just suck and won't be buying more. |

Thanks for the help, Amy. I'm not sure if I should even try, because it sounds like even after I freeze it, it may not last very long.
Angelheart, I was afraid that was the answer. Lol. I'll probably end up returning it for a refund. |
