So I need to refill my ATG gun, what is the difference in the two refills. Is the General use just as good as the $9.99?

I'm going to assume that the $9.99 refill is the ATG gold adhesive. ATG gold is acid free. That being said, check out framingsupplies.com . You can get refills there for LOTS less than 9.99 a refill.

I bought the general use a few months ago because it was cheaper and it worked just great for me like the $9.99 does for me. Now fast forward to last week when I go to get more at my M's and the cheaper one is now the same price as other -$9.99. Just my luck lol

I have used the two pack from Ms that is $5.99. Yesterday, I had to purchase two boxes of the $9.99 ones. Both the Ms in my area are phasing these out in favor of the "new" tag that Scotch is putting out and the tape is 1/2" and comes one refill to a box. At least I had 50% off coupons but still!

Guess I'm going to have to start ordering online now!

Mari - I'm glad you posted that about M's phasing them out!

I've been checking my M's for the past month or so, and can't find refills, or a spot where they should be. It seemed that the adhesive section was re-done, but when I asked the cashiers, they didn't know. Good to know the real reason.

My J's didn't have them either, so I ordered a couple from Amazon.

ETA: Whoops! Forget to answer the original question! The general purpose (5.99) ones supposedly aren't acid-free, but I know a lot of Peas use them for scrapping anyway.

The box on the General Purpose ALSO says it is for scrapbooking but does not say Acid-free. 3M won't commit to anything but as I understand, the general purpose is what has been used in the framing shops for years, so I assume it can't be too bad.

Not just the price, but mainly because I can't tolerate the horrible smell the acid-free has, I use general purpose, half the price and I don't get a headache from the smell.

Since Michael's is phasing out, I hope HL doesn't too. If they still have them next month, I guess I'd better stock up even more. Between my cards and scrapbooking and DH making little music books with my BIA, and I got him a scrapbook for Christmas... well, we'll be going through it even faster.
