It's about time I cleaned up my scrap space. There is too much on my desk and things keep sliding off. Plus I have a few boxes of things I've pulled for projects that need to be resorted into their correct homes. I am dreading the cleaning but I think a clean area will inspire my creativity.
Are you someone who cleans their scrap space regularly, or does it get out of control like me? |

Mine doesn't "get" out of control....it "stays" out of control! I did a big cleaning and purging during Christmas but you would never know it now....oh well, it's mine.

I try to clean up my space after a big project lasting several days or a week. I've been trying to put stuff away as I use it but I sometimes forget what I have if it's out of sight.

Oh yes, I get out of control. I go for a few months scrapping but not cleaning up perfectly when I'm done. The mess grows, and grows...then all of a sudden I have more mess than room to scrap and I get frustrated and I CLEAN maniacally.
I love when the room is clean and organized and things are put away so I can find them easily. And someone once told me (OK, it was my mom) that I should always stop working 15 minutes before I was 'out of time' so I could clean up properly. But that just is not me.
Maybe in my next life. |

This is a big problem for me too! I just found a box with a heap of really cool die cuts and stickers in it that I had pulled out for a project and I was so excited. |

I had to clean out today. I sat down to scrapbook today and realized I hardly had room to move! So I cleared out and organized a little bit and THEN scrapbooked. |

My desk stays fairly clean. Of course, that might have to do with the fact that I like to scrap on my bed. |

I clean and organize regularly. I wouldn't say it's immaculate, it just can't be cluttered or I don't feel like I can do anything. |

Messy until I can't stand it. I try to stay organized but even the name "scrap" tends to make you think of lots of small items and they do seem to get out of hand quickly. But I love my scrap room.

My desk tends to collect things as I work on projects until I run out of room and have to clean it all off. But I am trying to be better about putting things away as I finish and so far I've kept it a relatively clean level which has been nice. My cat especially enjoys the extra space on my desk. |

Oh, mine is SO bad right now - I've been scrapping and making cards and buying stuff, and it's all in piles on my desk! |

I finally stopped the world and got off in my scraproom mess today. Totally used about 10 hours to declutter, purge, and reorganize some of my containers and baskets. About 90% done and my shoulders are pooped out!
I normally keep one basket of stuff that's disorganized while I scrap. Then, it goes back where it belongs. But I got behind due to Christmas projects - did you, too?- and had to fix it all today.
I did find some cool new stuff in a bag. Now I am inspired!

I am a very organized person, so it's rare that my room gets really messy or disorganized. But, I have been gone on trips most of the last 4 1/2 months and every time I returned home I just dumped stuff I was working on or had collected or had taken with me. It got to a point where I couldn't stand the "collections" lying all over and I had to clean it out.
Then, as I am prone to do, I tore apart everything. Every container, box, stack, etc. was disassembled and sorted.
I threw out a huge bag of stuff (mostly packaging) and reorganized and labeled everything.
My space feels so much cleaner and "light." I feel a renewed energy in my space and am motivated to create in there again.
It was well worth the effort! The only advice I can give is to just start. I always make these things into a much bigger ordeal than they have to be. Perhaps you are in that same boat?
Good luck! |

I took hours cleaning and organizing my scrap room. I find that it helps my creativity!
I have a question-I have an entire box of items that are still good- I just don't want them anymore-I live in a rural area and I don't want to throw the items away-any suggestions? Thanks for any replies.

I've had good luck selling things on the FSOT board here. You could either sell them as a lot of items or break it up into individual items.

My space isn't too bad. I pick up and clean up after each lo, so it stays pretty neat. This weekend I did purge and reorganize a few areas and find I am more productive. I can't create in chaos, so it's easier to clean as I go. Also, the two cats who love to be in my stuff make it pretty important that I clean up when I am done.

I keep things pretty tidy. I can't get creative when I feel cluttered in my environment. I wish my fiance felt the same way, though. His desk is 90% messy, and he insists on having his desk in the living room so he can watch TV while on his computer. |

I wonder if you could take them to your church? Leave the box with the youth leader, or in the kitchen with a sign that people are welcome to help themselves?
Not sure if this is something you can do at your church, but I've seen it done before. |
