Someone mentioned in another thread that they had received photos in an order that were of another family.
I have never had this happen, but both my aunt and my mom did, although many years ago. The situation with my mom was about 40 years ago, the one with my aunt about 30.
So, I am just curious....have you ever received the wrong photos or were your photos given to anyone else?
The situation with my mom's photos must have been quite shocking and perhaps upsetting to the family who received hers. My mother's family were some of the type (whether it be regional, ethnic, or religious based, I don't know) who would often take photos of a loved one who has passed away during the viewing. So while my mother got back photos from a child's birthday party, someone else received photos of a stranger in a casket. I hope the adults in the family looked at those first. |

I have!
Last year I picked up a huge order of photos. I generally don't go through them right away but for some reason, I started sorting these within a day or so of picking them up. I had about 80 photos of the cutest little new born baby, they were hospital photos. First, I thought I had accidentally uploaded more photos of my grandson since he had just been born a few moths prior but nope, they were of other people!
It was kinda weird because it was actually at the same hospital my grandson was born at which is two hospitals away from being close to where I live and where the photos were picked up!
I just took them back to the store in case someone came looking for them. Really adorable baby! |

What a coincidence that it would be newborn baby pics at the same hospital that the newborn baby in your life was born.
It was nice of you to return them. |

Yes, I actually received an order of someone else's digital scrapbook pages! It weirded me out to think of someone else getting mine. I did contact the company (scrapbookpictures.com, which has since gone out of business), and they refunded my money and sent me a new batch of prints. They explained to me that the print job had failed because of a misfeed, so when the operator went to reprint the job, he was off by one digit when he typed in the order number and reprinted the one right before mine. So no one actually got my prints, but they easily could have. I suspected it might have happened because they were backlogged during a sale.
As far as your mom's situation, I sure hope that the other recipients didn't have their children with them when they opened them. I can only imagine how that conversation would have gone! |

A few years ago I sent Christmas cards through Shutterfly. I had them mail them out for me as well. I had a friend call me and ask if my Christmas card was a joke. I was so confused it was of a family standing in front of the Eiffel Tower. Needless to say Shutterfly refunded my money and sent out my Chritmas card

jordyn, Wow, that would be weird! I'm glad that no one else received your pages.
wendy, OMGosh! That's so crazy! LOL! I'm glad they took care of the problem for you. That must have really confused people at first. |

Several years ago I had placed a rather large order from Winkflash. Instead of my pictures I got an envelope of pics of a really cute little boy who was probably preschool-aged. It looked like his mom had done a photo shoot of him and had ordered 5x7s and wallet-sized photos to send out.
I sent Winkflash a message telling them I had received the wrong photos. I got my order a few days later. |

I didn't receive anyone else's photos but about 20 years ago when my son was a toddler my film and photos were a part of a mix up. I received a call at home one day from someone at a photo lab and asked my to identify my pictures so they could make sure they got to the right person. This was pretty easy for me because I had just finished up with my roll of film with pictures I had taken of my son at bath time. I had started running the bath water and stepped out of the bathroom to get a clean towel. When I came back he was sitting in the tub wearing his sleeper playing with his cups in the water. It's still one of my favorite pictures take of my kids when they were small!
In the days of film (and when I didn't take so many pictures!) there were always surprises because a picture I snapped 2 months ago was easily forgotten about by the time I got my film and pictures back. And then there was always the fear that my film would get lost once I sent it off. I know digital images can be lost too, and I have lost a few myself, but I feel the digital images are more in my control. If I had backed up my pictures as I know I should I wouldn't have lost the ones I did.

Only once did I receive someone else's photos...I had uploaded some photos to Sam's CLub photo as I knew I would be out that way later in the day. When I picked them up they handed me two envelopes (not unusual, I often get one order in two envelopes), I paid and went to car. In the car I started digging through my photos. Got to the second envelope and it is of a family I didn't know (graduation photos.) Actually a different race as well, first clue. I looked at the envelope outside and it definitely had my name including middle initial. Then I was stunned....the address was NOT mine, it was the woman who had stolen my identity a few years back! She uses my full name, my ss# one digit changed, and my birthdate with different year. It took me over a year to get her OFF my credit reports and I still have to check twice a year and have her removed periodically. I was told by the police it is a common practice, when someone has a similar name they can be 'blended' with your credit history. Then when THEY figure it out (usually trying to get credit and see their own report) they manage to USE your good credit on purpose by using your information to their advantage (using close BD and SS, which aren't usually verified, only picture ID.) Their default rate was horrific! And they continued to get credit/loans because of my GOOD credit. LOL, it was kind of neat to put a face finally to the name of my alter ego.....

I think it happened to my Mom before, but not me. Developed photos used to be out in the open for the customer to find their pictures. One of my friends used to spy on her boyfriend by looking at his pictures before he picked them up. Not really sure what she was looking for!

Oh my gosh!! That's craziness! What the heck are the chances that would happen...that you would wind up seeing her in "your" photos?!
What a mess with having to constantly recheck your credit, though. Ugh! Kind of makes you want to shred her pictures a bit. |

I didn't but someone else received my pics once.
During the transition period from film to digi, I was taking less photos with film.
There were some photos that I knew I had taken, but they didn't show up in any of my orders.
2 years later, the place where I dropped off film (by that time, I wasn't using film at all, so I never checked in there) called and said that I had a roll to pick up.
Turns out it had been sent to someone else, and it had (for some strange reason) taken 2 years to find it's way back to the store! I can't recall what photos were on the roll, but I do remember being very happy to get them back. |

One time Walgreen's did give me the wrong photos. Nothing wrong with them, they just weren't mine. They were able to reprint the ones I should have received. |

I've never had it happen, but I was kind of surprised how many mixes up have happened. When I opened this thread, I didn't think that many people would have had problems. I guess it makes sense with so many photos taken and developed now that there are mistakes. |

Yes, I received my order along with someone else's order. I felt badly, because it was an online order and I wasn't totally sure how to rectify the situation. I'm sure the other person probably contacted the company though.
The pictures were just a bunch of family shots. |

Yep. It was at Walgreen's. I downloaded my photos, went down later on and continued to my sister's house. Opened the envelope and there was someone's wedding photos! Thankfully I wasn't too far from the store and took them back quickly and the other family had not yet picked up their envelope with my photos.
On a slight hijack - dh stops for stuff that is in the roadway. One time, he picked up a video camera. He brought it home (think VHS - long time ago) and popped the tape in our player. I hid my eyes cause you never know what could be on there. It was a birthday party. Dh actually knew the people in the video! He was able to contact them and return the camera. Someone had put the camera on top of their car while buckling the baby in the carseat and then they drove off forgetting about the camera and that is how dh found it. |

Yes - although I have no idea where mine went! It was with sbpics.com a few years ago, I had ordered a ton of vacation photos so wasn't surprised to see a good sized box in the mail. I opened it find pictures of Melvin. Lots and lots and LOTS of pictures of Melvin (I know it was Melvin because he had a name tag on!). Apparently Melvin and his VERY camera-happy wife went on a seniors cruise to Alaska, and apparently Melvin either isn't fond of cruises or isn't fond of his wife, because in this giant box of pictures of Melvin, Melvin never smiled once. I loved it.

I did one time when I lived in Colorado, AND the other pictures HAD been taken in Colorado. The pictures were processed at that place in, I think Washington State. Luckily for me, they sent me the correct NEGATIVES and correct CD with pictures.
You know, I don't remember what I did, if I sent the negatives back or asked for a refund on the picture processing. I think my order was all pictures I took to put on my website just before I got my first digital camera and the CD was all I really really needed. Fortunately, that was the only time SO far. |

Holy cow! from what I have read over the years I am surprised they even printed those pics.
Now this thread has become a warning to everyone.....print any nude hottub pics from your own printer. |
