I have heard this on a few TV shows and now it is showing up on scrapbook papers.

Is it similiar to 'Oh darn" or maybe "Oh no" or ???

Clue in the clueless please

ETA My original question was "what the heck does "Oh snap" mean??
Guess that was too long for the space available

I take it to mean "Oh yeah!" Like, "I knew that!"
Not sure if that is correct! Just MHO!

Check out Urban Dictionary - you'll find out everything you need to know (and more!) about slang/current words and phrases.

I take it to mean, "Oh, darn." An alternative to dropping the "F bomb"!

The one or two times I've actually said "oh, snap!", I used it to mean "crazy!" or "wow!".

IRL - When someone's teasing someone else & they land a zinger - 3rd person says "oh snap" to mean - that's a good one!
In my albums - I mean something about the photos - like I got your picture or picture-worthy event.

Ok, I went over to the Urban Dictionary and it appears it means all of the above and maybe anything else 'YOU' want it to mean:laugh

Thanks for all your answers. It is fun seeing how others use it.

People say "oh,snap!" Instead of saying "oh, Sh**" lol atleast my generation does (I'm 28) or for wow & crazy like that one pea mentioned above! I'm assuming with all the sb company's using it.. It's meaning would be wow or crazy but I really think they use is as a photo/camera reference like oh,snap I just took that awesome photo! Or using a sticker with the words oh,snap on a photo of something or someone that was unexpected!

That's how I use it and how I have heard it used.

Usually it is similar to "oh darn" or "oh crap" or "oh no!" - it was made popular from the TV show "My Name Is Earl" - that was kind of one of the character's (Joy) catch-phrase.

That is how I have always heard it.

Never heard it as a substitute for a cuss word.

I think it means more like "gotcha" or "burn."

The only time I heard it was out of the mouth of a 20-year-old, and she was trying to politely say "Oh, d ---" because I was telling her she needed to redo a project.

Its a catch all phrase, depending on the circumstances, it could mean any of the above posted. Most of the time I've heard it used, it was for a reaction of surprise, or instead of saying 'oh crap' or whatever.

In scrapbooking its like 'oh snap' using the phrase as a spin off/twist for the 'snap' of a camera.

Ha ha! I've been saying "Oh snap!" since grade school and I'm almost 44. I always use it to mean" No way!" usually followed by "You can't be serious!"
