I'm listening to an online discussion (on Paperclipping.com) about fitting scrapbooking into your schedule and how much time people spend at it per week.
I'm listening to these professional scrapbookers say they spend about 3 - 6 hours a week at it. I was shocked. Apparently I'm really addicted. Only three hours?? I'd feel so cheated!!
I know not every week is the same but on average how much time do put towards it? (Being online here doesn't count!!!)

Well if you don't count hanging out online discussing scrapping, then I probably spend 3-6 hours too. And that includes editing pics. I would be embarrassed to post how much time I spend online. |

How many hours do you spend scrapbooking? You didn't say!
I've never kept track, but I would guess probably 20-30?! Wow. That seems like a lot when I think of it like that!

3-6 hours a week or a day?
I don't scrap at home every week but when I do it will be for 4-5 hours. Maybe a little more.
But then balance by weekend crops where I'll scrap 25+ hours or those 10-12 hour day crops.

Maybe an hour? I can pea easily while the kids watch a show or paint etc. But going to the basement to scrap, where my husband works from home, doesn't happen often.

I typically only scrap on weekends & would guess 4-6 hrs each day; so 8-12 a week. Sometimes more, sometimes less if something else is going on but this has been my pace for the last couple of months.

Its hard to keep track of some days an hour some nights 3-5. I spend about 15 minutes picking pictures for printing at Walgreens each week. I might spend 5-20 hours per week, which includes putting stuff away and vacuuming all the wee bits pf paper off the floor, now that I round corners, UG |

I digiscrap mainly now and have a slow internet so a lot of time is spent on downloading, unzipping and organizing. I guess that would be one hour a day just doing that. Then scrapping I guess I take 1-2 hours per page (including choosing photos and enhancing them). I am on several CT's so perhaps scrap about 6 layouts per week. So that is looking at 15-20 hours. I think that is a conservative estimate as sometimes it takes me a lot longer to find suitable photos and get them enhanced to match the kits I have to use for the week.
ETA I'm a SAHM with kids all at school so I have the time to spare. Time to get a job I guess!

If I count editing pics (which doesn't take too long with Rad La and printing, probably 1-2 hours. I do project life and that has taken a lot of time out.
Doing layouts, maybe a few hours a month. Eeeks. |

I am another one who can easily surf (and shop ) on my phone or iPad while I am juggling the baby. Actual time in the scrap room is limited, especially because DH isn't deploying this year so we are spending a lot of time together and DS4months is at a needy stage. So... Probably 2-4 broken into 15-20 minutes here and there. The other day I had 45 minutes and it was heaven!

Way more than that! I do have a lot of time on my hands (I am unemployed, possibly retired) so I spend several hours on each layout and try to get both a layout and an art journal page done each day. My art journal pages take a bit less time, because I haven't really delved into the artistic techniques that much yet, they are almost like small scrapbook pages. |

I'm a slow scrapper (which irritates me but I yam what I yam). So if I scrap it tends to take me hours anyway.
I've gone weeks without scrapping or I've spent hours and hours. So really, I don't think I could average it out. |

probably a couple of hours a day during the week. if DH is working alot, i will have the time to craft more. i try not to let too much time pass in between because then i get unmotivated and it's hard to get back into the swing of things. |

I do the majority of my scrapping on Saturdays. I can also usually count on scrapping two weeknights after I get home from work so I'd say between 10 and 12 hours a week. |

I would say that between 3-6 hours a week sounds about right for me. Sometimes I come home from work on Mondays or Wednesdays and scrap after supper and sometimes I get one day on the weekend to scrap for a few hours. Other weeks, of course, that doesn't happen.

My new goal is at least an hour a day or a total of 7 hours a week.
Last week, I probably hit 15 hours! This week, may be more like three or four.
I don't count general crafting or Peaing as my scrap time but I do organization and actual scrapping. I may get some organization time in this week though! |

Two hours a week, maybe.
I don't have a scraproom, I have a corner and I have to drag everything out and put it away when I'm done... If I scrap on the weekend DH thinks he can play computer games at the same time (in the same room) and then all three kids think we are having a family party and then the older two think they need to do an art project, and the 3 year old gets into everything, or climbs on my bed (where my stuff is)... and I usually get tired of the chaos and put everything away.
I actually got more done when the kids were babies and took naps and couldn't walk!

But the bits I do get to do are really pulling me through this challenging time. Art does save lives!!!

Well, I grab 5 minutes here, 15 minutes there...so I would guess I average about 2-3 hours per week. But, sometimes on the weekends I escape for some "mommy" time, which means I scrap at Starbucks...so on those weeks I get an extra hour in!
I am learning to make really good use of my scrapping time...I used to spend hours and hours on one page, and have changed my process to accomplish more while still loving my pages.
Great question OP! | |

I think a normal week for me would be ten hours you could actually count as scrapping. I wish the other stuff went as fast as the crafting! In my head, I feel like I could sort a blog post or edit and upload a video in under an hour but that is just not reality.
BUT I do have lockdown weeks that balance this out. You know how Facebook goes on lockdown when they are working on a big upgrade and supposedly they don't let their employees leave the building or call home and it's all a bit crazy? A couple times a year when I need to work through big projects, I do that to myself. I could never ever ever do that all the time, but maybe one week, twice a year? That does wonders for my creative process. I am actually a little concerned because the last two or three times I've done that, DH was working from home and now he works from a normal office. Well um... this means I will have to do things like make my own coffee and lunch. When he worked from home, we had an agreement that we would trade because he goes into lockdown with projects too, so we figured it was even that the person on lockdown would not have to do any cooking or housework during that week.
...then again, I am way past the point of us ever sounding like a 'normal' functioning household. Whatever works, right?
Anyway, in a lockdown week, I would probably scrap ten to twelve hours per day, for six or seven days. Which explains why I could never do that more than once or twice a year! That would usually turn out to be forty to fifty pages - perhaps more if I kitted up all the supplies before the start of the week. |

Unfortunately for me it is so random and sporadic. When I get the chance it is anywhere from 2 hours to the day and/or weekend. The only GUARANTEED scrapping time I get is 2 four day retreats a year. They are on the family schedule and everyone knows that I attend unless it is a dire emergency.

Like most of you, I go through phases of more or less scrapping. While I was pregnant, and until DS was about 8 months, I did zero scrapping.
Now that he's older (almost 3!), I'm able to get some in during his nap/quiet time, and often after he's in bed. I would guess around 15 hours/week right now, because I've been making it a priority and that has been my downtime activity of choice.
I stopped watching pretty much any tv a few months ago, and it's amazing the extra time I have in the evenings for crafting, reading, or just catching up on general chores! |

I probably spend no more than an hour a day in my scrapbook room working on a project, so around 6-7 hours a week.
I loose interest & have to walk away often, so normally I will just continue working the next day. |

Sounds like you need a mama break soon!!
I am lucky that I am staying at home with our youngest right now, who is a very sweet and wonderful little toddler. I spend the day with her, but she sleeps for 2-3 hours every day and is content to play beside for a bit on her own each day. So I can steal minutes and even a good hour during her nap. And my DH is happy to just have me scrap scrap scrap all I want. He often makes dinner so I can just scrap and eat and go back to scrapping.
And on days with a sick kid at home or an upcoming holiday/event I really put all scrapping aside.
But other than that, scrapbooking is just what I do. |

Hmmm...I'd say about 15 hours a week (including staring at half completed pages, editing photos, and cleaning up the disaster area). I try to spend a couple of hours a day at my scrap desk. Sometimes it's in fits and starts while I'm watching something on TV, and at every commercial, I'll jump up and move some paper around! But I will spend at least one uninterrupted hour after most of the house is asleep. That's when I'm most productive. |

I just truly started scrapping again this week after taking off 4 years due to a chronic illness. A week ago I helped my only child (DS) move into his dorm room at college.
So...I am healthy, have an empty nest and a heck of a lot of time to make up
Since Monday (needed a week off to get over a nasty cold) I've been scrapping 4 hours each day and LOVING it! I really hope to continue this schedule. I'm a SAHW so that makes it much easier.
