I've heard it two ways and I'm not sure which is correct.ne was as if you just saying L E's and the other just L's. So which is it?
I've been saying L' since I thought that was how you say Elle's, I thought that L E's was spelled Ellie's. |

I say it "L's" and have heard most people say it that way. Only a couple, one being Shimelle, have I heard say it "L E's"

I noticed that Shimelle said it that way. The only people I've heard pronounce it the same way weren't in the industry so I didn't think anything of it. Shimelle however, was at CHA and should have heard it pronounced, so it had me wondering. |

I naturally assumed it was "L", like the model's name.
Maybe someone from the studio will see this post and enlighten all of us!

I heard Elle on one of the CHA videos (can't remember whose it was), and she pronounced her name "El-lee". Here's a link to a YouTube video I found where she pronounces her name.
Until I saw that CHA video a couple of weeks ago, I had also always pronounced it "El". |

I believe it was Amy Tan on one of the Paperclipping Roundtable episodes that mentioned that it is pronounced 'L-E' because that is how Elle of Elle's studio pronounces her name. |

I have been wondering too! I always thought of her as "L", but then I noticed that AmyT always says "Ellie" when she talks about her products in the videos! |

OOps, I will still probably call it Ls because my daughter's name is Ellie, so that is L E to me!

I say it just like the letter. My grand neice happens to have this name so I pronounce it as her parents do.
ETA: this is one of the reasons I do not like "creative" spellings or pronunciations. Too confusing.

I had been saying "L's" too.
But then again several years ago I was saying "cry cut" instead of "cricket." |

I've been pronouncing it as "L", oops!
The Elles we know are pronounced that way....kind of like daniELLE, michELLE, gabriELLE, etc..
I typically see eLL-EE written as Ellie, Elly, or Elli.
I also go look for youtube videos when I want to hear how to pronounce something, so I'm glad I'm not the only one. |

I doubt that I've ever said it out loud, but have been pronouncing it in my head as "L" for so long, that it will be extremely hard to switch!
(Not that anyone would know, since it's only in my head.) |
