The reviews look good and mention of "improved interface" have me intrigued.

I loved PSE5 and used it regularly. 9 and I never meshed and I can't say that I'd miss it.

Opinions on 11?

Also, is $72(ish) a pretty good price?

I'm not sure about 9, but I used 8 before I upgraded to CS6. I liked 8 a lot compared to the older ones, but I also have more experience with the full versions since that is what I used when I was in school for photography. I would say the upgrade is worth it. Have you tried downloading the trial version to see?

Somewhere I read or heard (I do a lot of that -- can't remember where I pick these things up ), Jessica Sprague maybe?, that upgrading from the earliest PSE version all the way through to PSE10 was like going from a Toyota to a Honda -- not a huge amount of difference, but upgrading to PSE11 would be like upgrading to a Lamborghini -- huge learning curve. But since I've only upgraded from PSE6 to PSE8 to PSE10, I can't tell you for sure.

Also, I took a PSE class from Patty Debowski at My Creative Classroom, and she cautioned us about downloading trial versions of PSE. She said that if you use the catalog in the trial version and decide you don't want it, you can't convert a catalog backwards to an older version. Just a note of caution.

I love PSE11! Installing actions/brushes is so easy. I really like it a lot more than my previous version! Get the trial period and test it out!

Aaaaah! You guys are making me think I need this. I upgraded from 5 to 9 only because 5 didn't support my camera's RAW files, and I just bought lightroom for photo editing, but the prospect of driving a Lamborghini is a bit tempting.

The ease of installing actions made the upgrade worth it for me.

From what I've heard the best thing about PSE11 is the ease of installing actions. If that's not something that is important to you, stick with PSE9.

Can you elaborate on what you all mean about ease of installing actions? I bought PSE 11 in Dec. I haven't installed it yet. Thanks,

The best thing about 11 is the ease of installing actions/styles like others have said.

Actions are usually (but not always) made for quick photo editing (check out the Two Peas store for examples, but there are often ones available for free around the web. You can also get actions to enable re-sizing, sharpening and so on which are useful for when uploading pages (photos of paper pages as well as digital pages) to galleries.

Styles are things like getting an acrylic or glitter look to be added to digital elements (for digital scrapbookers).

The interface is VERY different from previous versions.

There are other 'improvements' in terms of cataloging, sharing online, merging photos and so on (which I don't use at all).

I was working on 5 until last year, upgraded to 9 (gift from DH when we got the laptop), bought 10 for the text to path function (which I actually never got around to uploading on my laptop) and then 11 on a Black Friday deal for 32GBP PURELY because I wanted the ease of using actions/styles AND because the cost was affordable.

You need to determine how you use the programme to see if the new features are worth buying the upgrade. I would also wait for a better deal to come along. However remember that Adobe tends to issue an upgrade every Autumn so at some point it would be worth waiting to see what the improvements are being made in the next version!

Just got 11 & its amazing! So much easier to use & navigate then the older versions! But f you already own 9 you might be able to just update to 11 from adobe.com for like 1/2 the price I would say then it would be worth it! Either way I love pse 11 and I'm so glad i got it! it's easy for me to learn! Also you should try the free 30 day trial to see if you like it first!

I can't wait to try it! I already bought it but have a new computer coming, so I'm waiting for that to install it. I use PSE 6 right now. I have photoshop cs4 but I like using pse for a lot of things. It loads a lot more quickly.
