I'm going to be taking a Disney cruise and I want to decorate our door.
I have done this in the past, however, on our last cruise, we saw a lot of people decorated around the round room number on the door. Some had Mickey ears, sailor hats, Goofy's hat, Donald's hat, Pirate hats, etc.
Where do I find any patterns for this, or how can I cut my own out?
Does anyone know what size the circle is? So I can size it correctly.
I love Stitch - so I think his ears would be neat.
Also, where can I find the Disney tags that we can personalize with our own names?
I'm looking for something different for our door, does anyone have any suggestions or neat ideas?
Also, while I have your attention, has anyone participated in the FE exchange? If so, what were your thoughts?
What sort of items did you receive - and what items did you give out?
Did you do the same gift for each room, or change some or all of them?
We just learned about the FE's on our last cruise, and we'd like to experience it at least once. I'm having trouble figuring out what I want to give as a gift. I'm just attempting to get onto the list, so I don't know how many cabins will be participating on my cruise.
THANKS for any help you can give me on any of the many questions above.

Not to cop out here but you should check out the Disboards forum. There is a ton of awesome info there, including info on door decor and FEs, etc. I am assuming you have been there anyway to get a meetup group for the FE exchange, but there are lots and lots of threads with answers to these questions.
Here is a thread with free to use porthole ears and directions for printing them. On my phone so I didn't look for stitch specifically.
As for FEs, I did a "survival kit" and a little decorated jar of pixie dust (glitter and craft sand) with a poem for each room. Then I did a little package for each child - these differed for boy and girl and I had slightly different items for over ten and under ten.
Having said that, I did way too much! Most people gave one small thing per person. The thing I used most was a tote bag with a pocket on the front. DS loved all the activity/coloring sets and used them at dinner each night. We didn't eat much of the candy. I got a set if glass pebble magnets that were really cool and a little jewelry bag that I use every day still!

I decorated my door with ears I just cut myself from a pattern. You can do a google image search to find what you need.
Our door is always covered. I print out Pirate Mickeys and Minnie's and add our names, the dates of the cruise, etc.
As for the badge, I got one from google also. I have one for every Disney cruise we have been on and I put them all on the door.
The Dis board is also awesome! I have never participated in an exchange, mainly because our cruises tend to be last minute bookings and the lists are already out, but I have met a ton of members on the cruises we have bee on and they all really rock!
Don't forget a dry erase board and something to hang off your fish! |

Another way to decorate your door is with coloring book pages. We and the kids colored the pages then I laminated them and put magnets on the back. We had wanted some magnets and our printer wasn't working so I picked up Disney coloring books at the dollar store. They worked great.
For FEs, we received photo frames, coasters, jewelry, sock "cupcakes", rubber ducks, and pirate themed stuff. If you're on Pinterest, there are some ideas on there for FE items. We enjoyed doing the FE. On the larger ships, you'll be doing a lot of walking. Instead of going floor my floor, I wished my daughter and I had done it by forward, mid and aft. Would've cut down on the time we spent walking from one side of the ship to other.
Have fun on your cruise! |
