Am I the only person who finds reviews that only show the rating really unhelpful? Surely the whole point of a review is to provide some kind of feedback to help others. There are a number of people who just do the rating and don't even take the time to put in a heading, let alone a full review. I just hope they don't get a prize for doing so.

Am I just in a grump today or does this annoy others too?

yes I agree it would be nice to see more comments. I think people just rate it because that puts them in for a drawing.

Well I hope they don't win, as I am sure that is not, what in the UK we would call, 'playing the game'. I tend to mark any I find as 'unhelpful' and any I find with a proper review as 'helpful'. Only seems fair.

I find it irritating as well...... not helpful, not useful, and I don't care if you want the product in the future, that tells me nothing about the product now..... haha, I think you found one of my soap box issues..

Exactly. I always try to write at least a sentence or two. Usually I think about the questions I had before I bought the product (e.g., are these Tiny Attacher staples significantly smaller than normal staples? I can't tell from the photo, is that scalloped edge on a circle sticker a separate sticker or attached?) and talk about those. I love reviews, they can be so helpful! Same for the related projects, when they actually use the product that they link up to!

I try to write atleast a sentence, but sometimes I just don't have anything to say...
If I ordered it, it came exactly as I expected... what would I write? "Exactly what I expected!"... that certainly wouldn't help more than the 5 pea rating! I have NO idea what YOU would expect or what questions YOU would have.
For example, I would have never, ever asked about the size of tiny attacher staples... the name of the thing is TINY attacher, therefore I assume it has TINY staples, so that would have never crossed my mind.

If I give it a lower rating than 4 or 5, THEN I make sure to comment, such as "colors not as they appear" or "doesn't stick", etc.

That's just how I do it and many people probably do it that way as well.

I think the main things to keep in mind when commenting would be things like:
Is the item as described?
Is the colour what I expected/as pictured?
Does it do what it claims to do? Is the tape in the tape runner sticky, or does it not really stick stuff?

If the item comes as you expect, then maybe that is what you should put. 'The item is exactly as described and pictured and does what it claims to do' would be very helpful, five peas with no comment just says that you like it, but I may not like what you like. With anything that you buy sight unseen, other people's feedback is very helpful as they have seen it.

Sorry, I will get off my soapbox now!

I find it annoying too. Have no idea who is winning these things. I haven't seen many 'good' reviews

I try to comment on my purchases as best as possible. For example,I love enamel dots and buy and use them all the time. I have found that the colors in the pictures many times do not even come close to the actual colors when I get them so I have been trying to say that in my reviews. I am not sure how to rate them though ,because I will still buy and use them anyway !!!! I love them!!! How would you want me to rate them. This is an interesting thread!!!

I have always had trouble, every time I do a review, I get an error message...

Me too! I have written reviews a least 10 different times, and NEVER has one posted. I try hard to make them thoughtful and helpful to other Peas that might be shopping - but it is BEYOND frustrating to spend my time writing a review that just gives me an error message and then disappears - poof.every.single.time!

I refuse to waste time writing reviews any longer. I kept trying over months thinking that they might have fixed their system but apparently not. I'm glad to know I"m not the only one who isn't allowed to review.

I'm wondering if some of the ratings-without-reviews are other Peas like us who DO write a review and perhaps the system only records our rating and not the review itself?
