Yes I did.
I finally got rid of almost all of my scraps.
I have a file folder for each colour of scrap paper.
I felt guilty of using my full sized papers because I had so many scraps.

So my goal was to get rid of my scraps and move on. Some of the scraps were probably 15 yrs old, lol.

Well I did it !!!!
I mailed them away to a friend that wanted them..I feel so free

Has anyone else done this?

I did, I cleaned out a stack that ended up about 8 inches high of nothing but scraps! I didn't have anyone to give them to so I put them in the recycle bin. I felt absolutly free afterwards. I still have scraps but I have found that I am keeping a better handle on them now and not just saving everything to save it! I am also using my scraps for project life this hopefully by the end of this year I will have very few scraps!

I'm in the middle of cleaning out my 12 x 12s and scraps. I think I'm going to donate them to my kid's art teacher (?) have to ask her if she could even use them.

Yep, I got rid of all my scraps a few months ago too! Some were at least 12 years old & were probably 15 pounds worth of scraps. It was so freeing!!!

I've been scrapbooking a lot since then & have aquired quite a bit of new scraps, but I am using the scraps up pretty fast, before I go for a new piece of paper.

I wish a pea would come to my house when I wasn't home and just dispose of my scraps! I have tried and tried to clean them out... but I am a horder apparently.
I feel love and my heart beats for each and every little piece.

I know there are some scraps older than dirt (or at least 10 years old) in my files.
The only good thing is the are the most organized thing in my scrap room! AND I do use them every day.

I have done this a couple of times. It is a wonderful feeling. This time I am trying to do a better job of checking the scrap folder first before cutting something else up. Maybe I won't have to dump them all a third time.

I just got rid of at least half if not more of my scrap pp. I had two full 12x12 containers full. It was a trip down memory lane - some of the scraps were from when I firsts started scrapping in the mid to late 90's. I got rid of all the itty bitty ones and the ones I didn't like anymore.

If I can't use them for my Quickutz die which is small then they get thrown in the recycle bin.

I have all my scraps in a bag and ready to send to DS's school. His teacher said she would happily take them, and I'm so happy to be giving them away. I agree with you, it is very freeing

I love that feeling of getting rid of the unwanted scraps. I periodically go through all my scraps and throw out anything that I now think is too small or I no longer like or just don't think I'll ever use again. I usually start with my scrap pile when working on lo's to help keep them under control.

I go threw my scraps on a pretty regular basis and I usually look through them before I make a layout to see if anything will work!

WHAT??!! I love my scraps!! But I actually use them a good bit so I would miss them if they were gone.

That being said, I have throw out a good bit of stuff that I just wasn't feeling anymore. And I haven't missed it yet.

I used to keep all my scraps but realized I rarely used them and the space they were taking up wasn't worth it. Before we moved last summer I gave all my scraps to my youngest DD's teacher, and now I just don't collect them--I give my scraps immediately to my daughters who cut them up and they end up in the recycle bin within a week--free at last!!

I used a ton of mine in a spellbinder tag I am going to use on my Christmas cards next December. It made my accordion file of scraps MUCH thinner!
I have been known to give my scraps to newbie scrappers to encourage them to scrapbook. Kinda like planting seed. LOL

I don't keep any "scraps" since I read a post from desdichaedo a few years back. Here is a link to her blog: Kathryn Scraps.

In short, as soon as my pages are done, if there is a cardstock piece 12" long, I trim it to 1" wide strips for making edging or lace with punches and store those together.

I cut big enough scraps into card bases [5.5"x8.5" or 4.25"x11"] which I store right away.

Anything left gets cut down to 4.5"x6.5" photo mats. These store so easily vertically - all one size - grouped by color. I use these pieces for most of the cutting I need in the Big Shot, and keep them right beside my table. This is most of the scraps.

Everything else (and all PP scraps) goes to girl scouts or recycling. And it feels great to give it away.

Thanks Kathryn!

I use my scraps all the time... especially with my Cameo. I would waste a lot of paper if I threw them away.

i just sent of a large Priority mail box stuffed full of scraps and excess paper to a fellow pea and my scrap stash is getting huge again. i started another box and can probably fill that up in a few weeks. this, without making a noticable dent in my paper pile.

I ruthlessly edit my cardstock scraps every few months. If they are too small, they become tags, die cuts, donations or trash.

I've never regretted getting rid of a single piece.

I haven't been keeping most of my scraps unless I don't have any of the paper I used left or unless I really, really loved the paper. My little one loves to scrapbook with me, so I share.

My favorite layouts are born of my scraps! I don't think I could ever do away with them.

But it would be interesting if I did give them away? Maybe go on a freeze and not rummage through them when creating a layout. See what I get!

Well not only did I have my scraps, but also my SIL's as she scrapbooks here and stores her stuff here as we'll.
Before donating my scraps I had made 2card sets of 12 with only my scraps. Can you believe I didn't make a dent in them.
I was one to get heart puplpatations just thinking of getting rid of my scraps, lol.
But then again I felt guilty cutting into a full 12x12 piece of paper with so many scraps.
So I made some cards, then went through my stash of scraps and kept the bigger and nicer pieces and donated the rest. Like the old papers that would kind of fray when cut with the trimmer.

Here are my scrap cards if you want to check them out.

I am giving mine (an entire drawer) to my nieces preschool teacher to use for crafts. I tend to only use a paper once in an album so all my layouts are different. I was saving them for cards, but always find myself using other stuff. i figure the kids will hopefully enjoy it.

I just tossed a ton today when I cleaned up my room.

I kept them for two weeks thinking I'd make cards from them. I made one card and the mojo just wasn't flowing with those colors . So in the trash they went. Felt great!

I went through mine about 2 months ago for the first time in over 8 years and gave what I didn't keep to my DD and the rest went in the trash. But my container is full again so I need to go through it all again.

I quit keeping scraps about 8 months ago and it is so freeing! I was not using them at all and it seemed so strange to hold on to them. Now I throw them all in a box and then let friends and my kids take what they want before donating or recycling the rest. I really helps me keep my space a lot more organized! Plus, then I have space for all the new releases!!

it feels great to finally do it, doesn't it??

I got rid of (recycled) all the tiny ones I had sorted / organized by color... I only kept large scraps all mixed up in a 12x12 Iris container-- I'm going to try to go for my scraps first, and I've decided that once it get full, it's time to go thru and purge again.

I don't seem to have nearly as many pattern paper scraps as I do cardstock. I have my sorted by color in drawers so I usually look there first before I grab a new piece. I always check scraps first when I make a journaling box or tag.

I have great intentions for making cards with my patterned scraps and sometimes I do but often they aren't big enough to save!

I have contemplated it many, many times. I have too many and keep thinking I should just get rid of them all, but can't bring myself to do it, as it feels wasteful. At least yours are going to good use!

OK, I think you've inspired me. I am going to ask my DD's pre school teacher if she wants them. If not, I will contact one other school. After that, recycle bin.

It's time. 7 years worth and I *never* use them.

I have been doing a decent amount of layering so I don't think I could cut all of mine to one size. I do make them rectangular by cutting a straight edge if I was punching it die cutting.

@Tracie - that is SO pretty though! It makes me itch to make cards. Love that pretty stack
