I did it. I just cancelled my subscription to the PL kit from SC. I love the cards and such but I am doing much more regular scrapping and doing PL monthly so I am using my scraps as journaling cards, etc. Is anyone else either regretting subbing or thinking of taking their name off the waiting list? I figured I could spend the same amount of money in the store and get exactly what I want.

Hey there - I was on the fence about putting my name on the waiting list for SC PL. Can I ask how much the monthly kit was/is?

Thanks!

No. I definitely love my sub and have plenty of stash to make my own as well. I just like the convenience of it all, plus I really like SC's style, but I think it's whatever works for each person. I'm sure whomever gets your spot is grateful!

I subscribe and do love it but I could see being frustrated if I hadn't gotten Jan. and Feb. There are a lot of kinks they are still working out. But I love the stamps!

I have used almost everything in the January kit--I like the colors and designs, and I am a big stamper, so I enjoy the stamp set too.

That being said--I was really disappointed in the quality of the cards--the weight of the cards is nice, however they don't fit the page protectors--I have had to trim and re-round almost every 3x4 card. SC has supposedly teamed up with BH to do these kits--why can't they get the cards to fit her page protectors? I think that is a huge mistake on SC's end.

I think for the amount of money the kit is, to have to re-work the cards is rediculous! I have used a number of Ali Edward's journaling cards and have never had a single problem with them fitting any of my page protectors. I will give my subscription 6 months, but I hope I see an improvement in quality.

I don't quite buy the argument that SC is still "working out the kinks" of the PL subscription--this should have been worked out before they accepted payment for their kits.

OMG, yes!! I was working with the January kit this weekend and ALL the cards are the wrong size. Are you kidding me!? $25 (with shipping) per month and I have to trim and round every card before I can use it?? I don't think so. This is ridiculous! If I get February's kit this week and find the same or any other "kinks" I'll be livid (and cancelling).

laurieak I agree with you. While I love the kit, I'm not impressed with the shabby-not-chic corners. I hope this months kit is without issues, or I will be writing them an email. As it's their first month I'm going to cut them slack but no second chances here.

I have considered canceling as I like to have more matching paper etc and I am not willing to
buy another kit to get it. I am not thrilled with getting the date specific things in the middle of the month.(I know they are working on this but) I I do like the stamps and the embellies but am going to compare it with the CT PL kit I get this month and decide.

I heard on the SC boards that the Feb. 4x6 cards might be too small for some page protectors. I haven't gotten my kit yet so I don't know first-hand. I really like SC so I will stick with them.

I still can't believe people are paying $100+ on eBay for this kit and then have the cards not fit.

I had been on the waiting list since December 27 thinking it would be just a month till I got on. I just couldn't sign on for something that I hadn't seen so didn't sign up when it was first offered. This club is a six month commitment and if I was going to spend $120 on PL stuff , I had to see it first . After the January kits came out, I started hearing and seeing those wonky-cornered cards ( i heatd they sent new cards that were worse than the old cards to make amends) and IMO the sparse kits ,I wasn't so sure. Then right before the February reveal I got an email telling me I would be wait-listed ANOTHER month and that's when I checked out Citrus Twist kits, read great things about them here and saw how much you get in that PL kit. I emailed them, got an immediate reply ( this was February 1) and told that I was on the wait list and could sign up officially on February 26. That was good enough for me so I cancelled with SC. Tiffany, the new CS person sent me an email telling me :
"Thank you for contacting me about our Project Life kit subscriptions!!! That is a very popular kit. I understand that you would like to be removed from the waiting list. We have been overwhelmed with the positive response to this kit and have created every possible subscription that we could for the January and February with the supplies we could get our hands on. Everyone is very excited about it. We are working very hard to make as many subscriptions as we can. As of Friday we had activated everyone who signed up on the waiting list before December 24th. We are committed to getting everyone a kit. We hope that we will be able to make subscriptions for everyone on the waiting list by March’s kit. When you are activated for a subscription you will receive an email to let you know. Once our kits sell out they are not restocked but just to assure you it is not necessary to have the previous kits to start your Project Life album each kit can be used independent of the others and they all work great together too"
This bothered me more with its sticky-sweet tone and didn't make me feel better because this s so typical of SC- running out of everything and making you beg for more. The tone to me was also very condescending. I was also told that I would be charged $15 for removing my name from a wait list and I had agreed to it when I signed up. I wrote her back that no I wasn't aware of the charge but not surprised and how ridiculous it was to charge anyone to get off that list since they obviously could sell my kit if it ever appeared. I told her to take my name off and also remove my name from the monthly kit club as well. I was pretty mad .
Tiffany then emailed me an apology and said she would waive my fee and remove my name which I appreciated but I won't be doing business with them anymore.

You get charged for being take OFF the SC waitlist - when THEY are the ones continually postponing things yet another month?

The whole thing is crazy! They KNOW from the start how many kits they've printed up, and should only be selling that amount. Period.

Sorry, so many of you guys are having such a difficult time with them! I'd be pretty frustrated wanting to do project life and missing the first months of the year with no end in sight.

Tiffany's response has me cracking up. All I hear from the email is "SC's PL is VERY POPULAR". SC always has a reason why things aren't right, so how can you possibly be mad at them when it's clearly not their fault? Like, they didn't ask to be so popular, right, so why are you blaming them? (insert eyeroll here).

I don't know about you but I stopped using the word popular about a year after I graduated high school and it's certainly not reason enough to shell out for a 6-month sub of products that need altering, recornering, and just don't fit. I thought PL is the same standard size, not custom sized. All A2 envelopes are a standard size so why do SC's products not fit the standard PL size? SC should make it right the first time or don't bother to make it at all. But of course, it's not their fault, right? (said in my best Valley Girl voice) You just don't understand how burdensome it is to be so. . . POPULAR.

I am always so conflicted with all the SC drama. I just signed up for the waiting list for SC PL kit in January. I've really wanted the last 2 kits and had wished I had signed up earlier.

@zoeybug - wow, they charged you to be removed from the wait list? I'm glad they *waived* it for you. I guess that prevents people from signing up willy nilly and then canceling but sounds a bit extreme. Glad I didn't sign-up while I was on the fence.

I was on the waiting list for the January kit but I was able to buy most of it from someone else. I did experience some of the 3X4 cards not fitting but trimming down one edge a little bit and rerounding two corners, to me, didn't seem to be that big of a deal.
I do get being upset about it because you expect things to be a certain way, especially when you're paying for something and it's in such high demand. The couple cards from my February kit I have used I didn't have any problems with them so that kink appears to have been fixed. I hope the same is true for your cards.

They're not selling kits that they don't have. There's a wait list to start receiving the PL kit. What I don't know if anyone else noticed is that you're charged a dollar on the credit card you give them for your monthly subscription fee; I think this is where the $15 cancellation fee comes into play because you're "technically" in their subscription system though you're not receiving the kit.

When I didn't make the cut for February I debated cancelling. I'm glad I didn't though, I've been making my own cards and I haven't had time to do it in two weeks. It will be SO much easier to just slide in pre-made cards.

S/O cards not fitting...the cards from Persnickety don't fit either. I ordered a ton of 3x4, and I even selected 3x4 Project Life instead of just the 3x4 option in case something was a little off between the two, and they didn't fit. I had to trim them all.

So even though I'm not getting a kit yet, they're charging me a dollar?? I mean...it's a dollar, it doesn't really matter. But they NEVER told me this, and my bank automatically shuts down my bank card when that small charge stuff happens. If that happens they will have one angry lady on their hands.
