I am prepping for a possible job loss (husband) and move. I am downsizing everything in my house by around 50% - including my scrap stuff (sigh).
I hate listing and packing and shipping, so I'm going to be dividing it into lots in flat-rate boxes. My question is: would you rather buy things by type (washi, mists, flowers, embossing folders, paper), by theme (girl colors), by manufacturer (OA, BG), or a mixture of things (papers and embellishments together)?
The problem with manufacturer is I have no clue who made most of my washi tapes, since I don't keep packaging and they don't say on them.
Anyway, I'd love your input before I start gathering and listing everything! |

I would do a combination of all 3 of your ideas. If you have a certain line from a company I would keep that together. Also you could put your own "theme" kits together using a variety of companies. With your leftover that you don't know where to put it do some misc packages.
Hope everything works out for you it's no fun to lose your job or to move. But look on the bright side it's always is a good idea to purge your supplies once in a while.

Sorry to read about the possible job loss.
I would probably purchase things based on type of embellie rather than manufacturer or theme. But that is because that is how my things are organized. |

I would do it by type of product, only because I don't use all types of products and if you were to combine together there might be much in the box I would not use. (side note, I might be very interested in those embossing folders)
Hate that you are having to sell off your stuff,

Another vote for kit type boxes here, but that's just how I roll. I would rather get a box full of everything I need for a layout than just a box of washi, or a box of flowers, etc.
I am very sorry to hear about the job loss as well. (((Hugs))) and prayers for you. |

Sorry to hear about your husband.Your family will be in my thoughts.
I too am looking to get rid of some of my supplies but not for the same reason. I was thinking about lot in themes this way they can make a page cause that is what I would want but I also see why others said the same product. I would say try both do a few in themes and others in same product and see sales more.

Sorry to hear about your husbands possible job loss. I will keep you in my thoughts. I know how tough that is firsthand.
I am a mix when buying from others. I really like when there are groupings of the same line - papers, embellies, etc.
I like the stamps to be NOT with a line. I might already have the paper, but need the stamps, etc.
So, if it were me listing, I would list as much as you can in lots that go together, and then the emb folders, stamps, inks, etc items that can be used for anything to be sep.
Are you going to post your items here or on another site? I don't want to miss it!

Thanks for the well wishes and input! Yes, I was planning on listing it here. I don't like listing on auction sites.
This could be a good thing - by paring down to just what I REALLY love, scrapbooking should be that much more fun - right?

Absolutely! I notice that any time I pare something down to just what I love, I enjoy myself more. I also feel like I have better options available to me - even though there's less stuff, I like a higher percentage of it. I think you'll really be inspired afterward!
I'm sorry to read about your situation - it's a tough one. We've been dealing with a similar one (job loss + move) for over a year now, so I feel for you!

I'm also sorry to hear that you might have to face your husband's job loss
Personally, I would want to see things sorted by type -- washi, mists, wood veneers, etc. HOWEVER, if you have a full line of things, like OA Woodland, I would probably put paper, embellishments, etc in one box.

I would rather buy either by line or theme or color. If you don't know the washi manufacturer you could say "plus washi that coordinates" or "plus extras like x y and z that coordinate". I do use most supply types though and don't do much they is theme-y or girly so if I bought a washi box with Halloween and Christmas and bows, I wouldn't use those.
If things don't sell you could always re mix and try again though!

I'm really sorry about the job loss. Keeping your family in my thoughts.
I think maybe a mix would be good - I personally sort my stash by manufacturer (and then line within each manu) because that's the way I remember things, so that's how I would like to see it sorted. But with the washi and other items that you don't know the manu, you could throw all like items into one lot. |

Thanks everyone! I decided that for items I have a bunch of from the same manufacturer, I'll sort that way, and then what's left by type/theme. I just collected a giant box of OA stuff - and it barely made a dent! Phew! |

I'm really sorry you have to do this. I really hope it doesn't get as bad as you're anticipating but it's good you are preparing.
I think making up kits and possible add ons would be fun! There are several sites which challenge you to make up a kit from your stash. I love playing along and putting together these sorts of kits. |

If you have all or nearly all the items in a product line, I would group that.
Then if you have several items by a seasonal theme (Halloween), I would group them.
For the remainder, I would sort and list them by type of item first (washi, mists, flowers, embossing folders, paper, etc.).
