|Posted: 2/20/2013 2:50:16 AM|I have been considering PL for a while now.
It's hard not to with the exposure it receives in the industry.
Every new product line seems to have delightful little 3x4 cards that entice me.
I actually own a kit I never used too so I really have no more excuses.
Except one...the daily or the weekly format does NOT work for me. I'm just too busy.
Recently I was inspired by Briana Johnson when she showed her monthly format here.
Tonight I found Nicole Samuels monthly version and it is delightful.
I've decided I'm definitely going to do it monthly.
In fact - I just sent my January pictures to be printed.
So I'm wondering if there's anyone else who could inspire me with a monthly format.
Anyone here do PL monthly or do you know of a scrapbooker with a blog who does?

I use PL products along with divided protectors to speed up my scrapbooking. I no longer devote the time needed to create traditional pages for all of my photos. That being said....sometimes I'll actually take a photo a day, but most of the time my pages are either a week in review or they cover every 2 weeks or maybe just the month. I add in extra pages when I need to too. Just make it what it needs to be for you!
Scrapbooking this way gives me an easy way to scrap and record that small thing/event that maybe only has 1 or very few photos. My picture taking was getting limited to the big stuff vs. the everyday moments that come up.

I do it monthly. I've got an article up on my blog now. It's much easier for me to do it on a monthly basis.

Until last January I don't think I had scrapped anything since at least before my youngest was born. He'll be five in the summer. I'm just in the midst of a busy season. When I started seeing ProjectbLife everywhere I was so excited to give it a try. I sometimes miss the creative outlet of scrapbooking and I didn't want to miss documenting all of our crazy, busy years. I decided to work on monthly spreads from the beginning for a couple of reasons. I can collect things photos, etc. and it's not a lot of pressure to fill up the page protectors.m the way I look at it, anything I get down is more than I would have done before. We also live in a small house, and I don't have room to store multiple albums for each year for the next 10 to 15 years. The sheer bulk of weekly spreads frightened me.
I'm not caught up, but that's ok. I save my photos by month, have a designated place to drop memorabilia, and I record thoughts on momento, so I can go back and pull things together soon. I love that I can be all creative with it when I have time, and I can easily get everything done if I'm in a pinch. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. I usually do a two page spread each month, but I often add in an inst or two if we have a lot of extra photos. I love how this format has inspired me to capture the moments rather than only working with the best photos. I can focus more on the story.
I also don't have a dedicated scrap space anymore, so I don't keep a lot of supplies around. I can keep most of my PL stuff in one jetmax paper storage cube and one stack and store container from Target. I don't really have room in my budget to spend a lot on scrappy supplies, and beyond the initial investment I can spend as little or as much as I'd like on supplies. Plus, it takes so much longer to use them up doing it monthly. I think it's the perfect balance for my crazy lifestyle right now.

|Posted: 2/20/2013 7:32:17 AM|I do a monthly PL. I have older kidz 17 and 21, so monthly works for me, I do a highlight of the month 4 X 6 jornaling spot and add a few photos and I am done, this seems to be more my speed, less pressure than daily photos and all...

Unfortunately, I don't have any pics/videos to share, but I am on year 4 of PL. The first two years, I did a picture-a-day. The last two years, I have switched over to a monthly format. At the end of each month, I typically do one layout, including inserts if I have extra pictures to include. If we have a special event/vacation/etc, I just add in another layout after my monthly layout. For example, we had a busy month in October, so I have several PL layouts:
- Oct 2012 (for random pics/stories from the month)
- close friend's wedding
- trip to visit family
- baby shower I hosted for best friend
I am finding that this method really allows me to highlight the bigger events during the month, instead of just choosing a few pictures. I stick with BH Design A page protectors as the "base" of my album. Then, I add in other sizes as inserts, whenever needed.

|Posted: 2/20/2013 2:36:42 PM|HI!
PL 2012 was monthly for me!
I did Jan 2013 monthly but think I will go back to weekly formats for the rest of the year. Although it is inevitable that there will be several times of the year when I will go back to the monthly format because life will get busy.
BUT Check out my blog because I just posted my Jan 2013 spreads (which are monthly) and I will be posting PL 2012 spreads as I catch up on those.
I DID NOT keep PL 2012 monthly spreads to a 2 pager I just used as many pocket pages as I needed to tell the stories of the month.

I too am taking the monthly approach. It's alot less stress for me. I just choose something from that month and highlight it. Some months I may have more time to work in a few more pages, but for now I am just enjoying the process and loving that I am recording those everyday moments as I go.

I'm doing weekly currently, but I'm thinking of going back and doing four years in the past, and for those I would do monthly.

I'm into Monthly as well. And I admit that I wish there was more product that related to monthly like there is for weekly. (HINT HINT TWO PEAS!!)
Otherwise, it is just right for me. I do now take more photos of things that strike my fancy but I don't put myself on pressure to take a photo a day. I love journaling the day to day and keep more notes of things I might include when I make the spread. I will make as many pages as it takes to capture what I want to remember. For January and February, two have been perfect. I am expecting March to be more, but we'll see. No matter what I'm having fun!

I decided the end of last month that I was going to do my PL in a once monthly review. We are retired and I really have weeks where not much goes on , where I feel I can fill a two page spread more easily once a month. I take notes and take the photos as life goes on and then I will sit down and decide what I want to include, and if necessary I can do more then 2 pages. So I will be doing my first one the end of March!

I'm doing a monthly format similar to something that Shimelle did in 2010. I do a 12x12 LO for the first page of every month. On it I have a photo of my kids or the 5 of us, and a small calendar with dates filled in of events (birthdays, outings, etc.) I also might have another photo, plus one other thing. For example, on the January page I have a library pocket with a card listing one book each of us read in January. Then I have a divided page protector for the month but there were some extra things I wanted to include so I also used a 6x12 divided page protector. The last section of the January documentation is also a 12x12 LO. For January I did a LO explaining why I was doing this. I have never done PL before and I wanted to explain why I was deciding to scrap a little differently. My kids are 22, 19 and 14 so it might seem like I missed the time to jump on the PL boat, but there is still so much to document. Even technology! Imagine what we have now that will be obsolete in 15 years. Anyway...
I have a box that I just dump things in for the month and then do the whole month at one sitting. I really like how it's working for me. I'm trying to use some of the same things throughout the LOs and the page protectors (like the same washi for January) but I'm not being anal about it.
|Posted: 3/22/2013 8:15:33 AM|I do two weeks at a time. So not monthly but only twice a month. It's been working great for me. You can see my PL here if your interested.

Another monthly PLer here! I don't use a specific "format" I just let the pictures I take dictate which protectors I use. I find that I like Design G A LOT!!! I like that it has both vertical and horizontal slots that can be perfect for one event. I try to print pictures 2x a month around the middle and end or after a significant event.
I do try to pick one product line to use for each year-the very first year I did PL in 2011 I used the Amber kit and did a POTD; 2012 I used the Simple Stories year.o.graphy line and this year I'm using the Snap products.
I also wish there were some more "monthly" themed cards.
