There was a thread about a 14 hour crop and how much you would take with you. A few of you mentioned that if it was an entire weekend crop, you would pack differently. Well....I am heading out for a Friday-Sunday crop and wanted to know how you would pack differently-mainly because I do not want to feel embarrassed. Please let me know how you would pack!!

If I am driving, I'll bring a cropper hopper full of paper, 2 magazine holders with thickers & stickers, one of those rubbermaid 3 drawer things for buttons, stamp stuff and some tools plus my jar of tools that I keep handy, plus a trimmer, mat and ATG gun.

If I am flying, I consolidate all that to 2 of those 12x12 iris cases with papers, lettering, & embellishments plus the minimum tools I can get away with.

There are some scrappers with stacked shelves and carts. A lot of people bring their die cut machine, laptops, etc. There's really no such thing as too much unless there's no chance of you using something. If you forget something, you can always add it later.

I don't think you could possibly be embarrassed. If your willing to carry it most of us won't bat an eye.

I personally prefer to prepare ahead of time and take only page kits (not premade but my own). And a basic tool kit. And most of my friends are willing to share. (Although there was a post about not wanting to share.) if I reach for something and don't have it I jot it down and fix it when I get home. Or ask my friends!!!

For my last weekend crop I brought photos for one event, a cruise. Ahead of time, I pulled all the paper I wanted to use with the themes of the cruise and matched it to solid card for background. It was a 7 day cruise, on Disney, over Christmas so I had a bunch of themes to match! I would try to stick to one event if possible, it makes it easier!

I brought page protectors, paper clips for completed layouts, sticky notes, double the amount of adhesive I thought I would need, a journaling pen, a regular pen for notes, my 12" cutter, my small cutter for photos, adhesive pen, corner rounder, scissors, my sketch books and a few other essentials.

i did not bring any embellishments, I did all this at home and it saved a lot of space and time. I flew OT this crop so space was limited!

I would pack less snacks and no jammies for a 14 hour crop. Seriously, I limit myself to a shoulder bag + Cameo for a 12 hour crop and one rolling tote + Cameo for a weekend crop.

For a two day crop I would pack a few more page kits and/or a few more packs of photis. If by chance I actually finished everything I kitted, I'd use the leftovers to scrap the extra photos. (But that has never ever happened. )

Don't worry about being embarrassed on how you pack. I have seen ladies who packed so much stuff!! You probably won't be the person who brought the most stuff.

Thanks for the replies. I have a crate with my monthly kits and a wheeled container with everything else. I am going to try to make it work with these two things.

Also--I am driving. No flying involved. I could not imagine flying.

I think the 1st step is to think about how fast you actually scrapbook. I used to have all these lofty ambitions of getting SO MUCH scrapped so I would pack much more than I actually ever needed to. Step 2 is to preplan. I hate the whole packing, hauling, unpacking process so I really try to plan and scale down my stuff.

For a weekend I add...
-an ott light,
-those white walmart kitchen shelves that stack so I can have more room to spread out (even if it is vertical space),
-a small fan (crop room temps vary, lots of bodies = hot crop room),
-comfy jacket (in case I'm cold),
-extra extension cords as more people will bring things that plug in,
-tervis tumbler (or other sweat proof/spill proof cup)
-my own cricut mat, blade, and any carts I may need (my cricut if one is not available)
-cushion/pillow for my back (crop chairs can be uncomfortable)
-fuzzy socks for late night cropping

I also always bring a small snack/tv table and once I see my space if there is room I set it up next to me or behind me for my cricut, etc.

The last weekend crop I went to I picked a theme that I would be working on. I decided to work on my oldest son's baby book. I took the 3-up album with his first year pictures, a rolling crate with all of my baby boy paper in it, my two sketch notebooks, my tool kit, my circuit and cartridges, my computer and printer and a container with my favorite punches. This crop was for Wednesday to Sunday.

We all share our tools with each other and have a blast. I get so much done at this crop because I have limited myself to a certain range of supplies and I feed off of the creative energy in the room. I wish I could do something like this more often.

One of my girlfriends always leaves extra stuff in her car: the just in case things. Usually sharing or borrowing isn't an issue and I can't remember very many times when she needed to pull something from the trunk.

I travel lighter since I take my own premade kits and they are jam-packed. There isn't too much extra I need to take since I usually spend more time socializing than scrapping. I never get as much done as I intended to and have to work hard to overcome my tendency to overpack.

I always bring too much, I'm not good at preplanning. The last crop I went to I brought my large rolling tote, tool tote inside of a thirty one medium sized bag with some other scrapping goodies inside it, a square thirty one bag with pictures and another medium sized thirty one bag with my quickutz. This was the worst prepared I've ever been since what I'd planned to work on fell through at the last minute (photo issues) and I was literally throwing stuff in bags...I didn't even know what pictures I had for the most part, I just grabbed a photo box and some random envelopes. It was a packing disaster!

No matter how much I take to a crop, it's ok, someone ALWAYS brings
more!

Mama nay has EXCELLANT advice. I'd pack that kind of thing too. I usually bring a hat for Sunday too. My hair will look disastrous but I don't want to waste scrap time beautifying.

Isn't there a check off packing list somewhere?

huh- I'm going on a weekend crop in April (Fri - Sunday, so technically 3 days), and I'm taking pretty much everything but the kitchen sink, lol! I'm taking as much as will fit into my Honda Fit hatchback, and that's a LOT!!

I'm taking my Cropper Hopper full of PP, a good selection of stamps and inks, and probably every embellishment I own, which may not be that many- my supplies are all organized in 12x12 Iris boxes and I have one iris box for each category: letter stickers, journaling cards, stickers and chipboard, etc. I'll probably take most of my punches, my mists, and a selection of stencils / masks, too. I'm also taking my laptop, photo printer, and my vintage typewriter. Pretty much the only thing I won't be taking is my sewing machine! (and I could even take that, and leave it in my hotel room... hmmm...)

The main reason that I take sooo much stuff with me is that I canNOT pre-plan or do page kits- I've tried, and it's just not how I scrap. I need to have pretty much everything there as a choice while I'm making the pages.

I still try to pack lightly for a weekend crop, but just bring more page kits than for a one-day crop. I would bring my small rolling tote full of my page kits, the shoulder tote full of extra cardstock/printed papers & my tool tote. So, only 3 totes.

I do not enjoy lugging in tons and tons of stuff to a crop & then having to lug it back out. That isn't enjoyable to me & makes me less productive in the end....but I have gotten the pre-planning down pretty well, so I don't have to do that anymore.

The last 12 hour crop I went to, I watched a group of 6 ladies drag in a giant leather swivel chair each, at least 12 full sized rubbermaid containers total, 2 bookshelves to hold all their crickets/carts/laptops/sewing machine, full sized cooler, 6 mini tables to sit next to them & it took more than an hour for them to carry it all in. Then another hour & 1/2 to pack it all back up & it was just one day...I can't imagine how they do a weekend retreat crop. I was exhausted just watching them.

That me! My friend and I will completely fill her SUV with our stuff for a weekend crop. Loading and unloading all of it sucks.

If I am driving, I take my XXL and a 2nd rolling tote that is about half the size of the XXL (unknown manufacturer). If I am flying, one or two Iris cases depending on the project. I did fly once with the smaller rolling tote but found it a bit too big for the plane isle and too heavy to lift into the overhead bin.

I was shopping @ a lss that was closing & having an all day crop.
A lady showed up w/a 5' tall multi-drawer Craftsman tool cabinet - when she wheeled that sucker into the store crowded w/bargain hunting shoppers & croppers everyone's jaws dropped. That was just her first item - she also had various totes, etc. SHe had drive in a pick up & that thing will FULL. This was an 8 hr crop - can't imagine what she'd take for a week end.

I don't go to crops, butI would be a heavy packer, I imagine, even tho the unloading & loading is a PAIN

Folks on here have some great ideas. I try to pack into several 31 totes when I go in, making 2 trips of scrap stuff at most. If I'm not prepped or sure what I want to work on I will throw stuff in the car but not bring it in. This way I'm not stuck without having something to do, but I don't have to unload it if I don't need to.

I am going to a local weekend crop in April and I am already planning my packing! I tend to pack in kits. I plan a page off a sketch, print the photos, pick a few different paper options and a few embellishment options and pack it all together. Then all my brads, ribbons, and bottoms all come with me in their own little bins.

For a week end crop: I would take
pre-planned kits which usually includes sticker letters & embellishments
tool caddy
Ott light
Cricut E, mats,carts, etc
tote with solid card stock
tote with sticker letters
an extension cord
insulated coffee cup
extra ATG tape
CM circle cutter
and my 12 x 12 paper cutter
sketches binder(although I might leave this at home since I have Pinterest on my phone & check out sketches with that(ditto for my ipod)
and whatever I throw in last minute...

I carry it all in 2 31 bags & a rolling tote.
