Green is my favorite color and I really miss it. I miss seeing pink & green, blue/green, even purple and green. I know I'm in the minority, but I've been trying for months to figure out why new CHA releases just don't appeal to me anymore. I use to check out EVERY CHA release and I don't do it anymore, haven't for a couple of years. I think I've found the reason...the current trends, specifically colors and graphics just don't appeal to me! I'm missing pretty paper and embellies. I do get my fix from Scrapbook Generation as they usually do a MME line every month and that's about my most favorite paperline out there right now!

On that note and while I'm being whiney...I'm so tired of (don't slap me!)....speech bubbles, typewriters, ampersands, question marks, frame and camera background papers, handwritten graphics (I don't know what else to call them, but I think you know what I mean!), color combos that have every color under the sun in them...really! I'm sorry, but not every color goes well with every color! When is the "pretty" stuff going to be back in???LOL!!!

After saying all that, I do realize that what's out there is hot and probably a lot more practical to scrap with. But, for me, I can see myself looking back at my pages 5 years from now and saying to myself...what was I thinking??? It's kind of like using the deco scissors that many have mentioned they use to use. I missed that era, but in all honesty, I don't believe I would have ever cut up my pics or patterned paper with deco scissors unless to use just a small touch to a piece of paper.

Ok, off my soapbox!

I kind of agree with you on some of the color combos that are popular right now. I am a more simple scrapper and so many of the styles right now are not my style. I love to watch the different girls make their pages but I just cant do it myself. green is also my fav color and I have to agree that there is not much out there and even the pantone color of the year ...emerald... is not my fav shade. Oh well...I guess I will have to scrape my stash!!!!

This actually just occurred to me today. For some reason, I decided that I wanted green on the page, and I had such a hard time finding any kind of green in my stash. I thought it was just me, but it seems there really isn't much green at all in the recent lines.

I've always loved blue a green. I love olive green. But I think I was ready for other color combos. I'm embracing the mint green and the aqua which are variations of those color. I never was a fan of emerald green and it's Patone's color pick of the year.

Well I have to admit that I haven't really paid to much attention to this years lines...yet. That being said, I was reading a post about paper earlier today and went on a mission to see what I do have. I went through every piece of paper that I own and sorted predominantly by color since that's how I scrap. Some are sorted by theme...stripes, floral, vacation etc.

I was surprised by what I did and didn't have but quickly realized I have plenty of each color...no worries there. Since I am taking a road trip shortly to Ikea to buy more Expedits I figured this was as good of a time as any to see if I really need any more paper right now and to organize my goodies by the way I stash.

What I figured out is that my purchases do need to be more specific to my photos. I know what kinds of pic themes are dominant in my photos so unless it is specific to the themes in my pics I will be passing on paper purchases unless it is really cute. When all else fails buy cardstock. It always works with photos.

I'm with you! This is why I often don't care for new releases.

Depends what you consider "pretty," but Anna Griffin is alive and well on HSN, if you like elegant kind of pretty. Martha Stewart's border punches all create "pretty".

Oh, if you want pink and green, those are the new Christmas colors.

These cycles ebb and flow. A several years ago I hated every paper on the market, and it was about 2 years before I started seeing papers I was willing to buy again. I'm sure your 'pretty' papers will cycle back through again.

Not sure if you saw them but there is a lot of green in the new Webster's Pags collections and a lot of those papers are pretty versatile. I can not wait to get them in my hands - they were my favorite releases of the year.

I'm not a big fan of green but I was having the same type of lamentations back at the start of January when browsing the lines and the CHA releases. I personally need bold, bright, clear colours and it seems a lot of the current lines are going darker. Even EP, my go-to company, wasn't inspiring me (except for the Scoot line but unlikely to buy that one). And I don't have a large enough paper stash to 'ride it out'. Luckily, I've been seeing more lines in the pipes that suit my style better so I just need to be patient.

I am not fond of the new lines either, to me they all look pretty much the same, I am an a very theme styled scrapper and I tend to use bold and saturated colors, and the new lines just don't catch my eye. I have always been more of a cardstock scrapper so the new lines don't really effect me because you can always get green, pink, and every other color imaginable in cardstock. I have turned to DCWV for my pattern paper as the bolder colors and the prints on these appeal to my eye better.

I miss the old paper combos so I shop my stash and have been misting like crazy. The Dylusions sprays are bright and colorful: I love them! Last year, I made Christmas sugar cookies in hot pink and lime green. I love unusual color combos and get bored with today's color palettes. It keeps me from buying lots of new releases, so it's a good thing, right? My personal color palette is stuck in 2005 and I'm OK with that.

As far as speech bubbles and ampersands go, there's always something that appears "hot" and then becomes a marker of a particular point in time. During the time I grew up, it was beaded curtains, earth shoes, and everything was harvest gold and avocado. My mom re-did her kitchen in burnt orange and it was so "outside the box" for 1978. Although the trends can be silly or repetitive, it's good for guessing the historical date years after the fact.

I always wonder if the shabby chic walnut-stained and torn papers will look sloppy in the decades to come. I can hear my kids saying "Wait? It looked like this intentionally?! You did this on purpose?!" Just like when they wear brand-new destroyed jeans and I say "You paid good money for those rips and tears?!"

I think the speech bubbles will look dated even though everybody's using them now to look trendy and edgy. I also have a sneaking suspicion that when our kids are cleaning out our houses decades from now after we're gone, they're going to wonder why all the PL documentation needed to be done. Pictures of food and laundry baskets? Self-portraits taken from the driver's seat of the car? It think it will seem silly but it will take awhile before everyone sees it that way.

I go to a university whose main color is green, so I'm hoping that Pantone's Emerald comes out in lots of collections at CHA Summer. I, too, wish that green figured more prominently into the lines, since it's my favorite color, but you can still see hints of it. And I'm loving the mint green and navy combo that's so popular in the lines right now.

AT's Yes Please has some green, 3 of the 4 BG lines from CHA-W have green in their palette, there's a little green in some of the new EP lines, JBS's Modern Mercantile has quite a bit of green, Jillibean Soup's Chilled Cucumber Soup is green and aqua, the new SC lines all contain a shade of green, a couple of the WRMK lines feature green, and OA's Travel girl has a pretty green with aqua in their color palette. I do wish it would steal the show again, and not just have the supporting role.

Yes! I noticed it's a hard to find a good navy blue. I don't care for most of the trends right now.

I like a lot of the new graphic styles and color combos that are out, but I'm sure at some point we'll go through trends I don't care for again. Hey, think of this as an opportunity to put aside the money you would spend so when new stuff you do like comes out you can buy ALL of it!

My stash of green 12 by 12 is over 2 inches thick. You need green. Come sit by me!!!

And that camera background. Send some my way. I don't have one single piece. And of course I have to take the requisite camera in the mirror picture. I've been on hiatus for about 4 years. Obviously...

I need purple! There is no purple to be found. My DH is a huge Vikings fan and my DD is going to go to a school with purple and white as the school colors. Could someone come out with a few purple papers please.

To the pea that was looking for navy, I am finding it here and there. There are a few navy papers in the Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm and the new Glitz designs.

I agree with the lack of green.

OMG, I think you've just perfectly summed up PL through my eyes, except that it won't be my children scratching their heads but auctioneers at an estate sale. Just bizarre concept for such a huge amount of work, IMO.

No kids here, so can't speak for that, but I completed a PL album last year and have already flipped through it a few times and found some pictures/memories in my journaling that I didn't even remember. I just love it, and my boyfriend does as well. My journaling from that book was in-the-moment, fresh at the time - something my traditional layouts lack. To me, even just looking at the completed project a few times so far and having that snapshot of our lives last year was worth it. I can only imagine what it will be like several years down the road when things are very different.

I also would LOVE to have seen this type of album from my grandmother or great-grandmother. What I wouldn't give to see what their everyday lives looked like, their musings, and what they found interesting or important at that time. I don't think everyone will think it's silly.

Liz,

Once again, we are in agreement. I love green. I am not even looking at the new CHA releases, I do not like the current color combos and prints, and I have not for quite a few years. I get more excited looking at my stash and trying to use all the papers there that I still like (even though they are outdated). I still have all those kits from years ago to use....Now that I am down to one job and only part-time at that, I have to use what I have. I have TIME to use those old kits and papers now too!
