I can never figure this out. I look at TONS of beautiful scrapbook rooms on different websites and hardly ever see any finished scrapbooks. Where do you store your finished books, or even your books in progress?
I have close to 70 scrapbooks that are complete and in my craft room. I keep re-organizing and purchasing more Expedits, etc. to store them in, but it is starting to get so it is hard to find room for my crafting supplies.
You have to realize my room is only 10 x 15 with a closet along one end. The current reorganization will up the number of "cubes" but at a certain point even that won't be enough.
Please share photos of where you completed albums are kept. It might give me ideas for other areas in my home that I can use.

I have struggled with the same problem. I don't think I have as many as you quite yet, but still enough to be an issue. I don't really like to have them in my scraproom because as you said the limit of space. When we redesigned my scraproom we found we needed something to place at the end of my countertop desk, so I purchased some four cubes for the end and store some albums there, but the rest are on regular bookshelves in the living room. Probably not the best place for them, but for our lifestyle it works. We are hardly ever in the livingroom (hubby and I spend most of our time in our Jack and Jill workspaces), unless we have family or other company over, and that is when I want to share the albums anyway, so they are handy, it works.

I do 12 X 12 scrapbooks and they can be hard to store. Currently, I have them stored in those large cabinets from Walmart, the ones that are like 5 feet with doors. They are wide enough to store the albums in. Wish there was another way to store them though.
Here is a link to the cabinets. They are not pretty but do store a lot. I have two. I have added some vinyl to make them look a bit better.

I do not keep mine in my scrapbook room. They are on an antique bench with bookends in our living room. I don't like people in my scrapbook room, so if I kept them in there they'd never be viewed. My mini albums I have displayed in baskets throughout the house in antique wooden tool boxes.

Big bookcase (16' of shelf space) in our family room. After all, these books are about family! The new WRMK are too deep for the shelves, though, so I added an Expedit 4-cube this year in the same room. We use it for the smaller tv in there, and I'm starting to fill it with WRMK. Fortunately with kids grown I'm collecting albums slower!

|Posted: 2/27/2013 3:25:19 PM|Mine are in my scraproom. They fill up 7 of the 8 cubes in my expedit, so probably 30-35 albums. I've also got a few older albums on a shelf in the closet in that room.
Our current house is pretty small, and we don't really have the space for an expedit or other deep shelving unit anywhere else. Plus, with a 3-year-old (and playdates), I prefer to keep them out of the family room for now. DS is good about flipping through them, but for a while he insisted on constantly pulling the spine-covers off of my postbound albums.
Our next house (hopefully sometime this summer) will be larger, and I'd like to either get a bigger expedit for my scrap area, or one for a family area to display at least some of them.

My 12 x 12 lo's are in D-ring binders in a couple of cubes on my Expedit...I have some of the 12 x 12's in frames displayed throughout the house and change them periodically. I also have one of the Recollections hanging stands with the 12 x 12's in my family room and again, I change out the lo's as my mood fits or the seasons...for instance, I had some Christmas lo's in it during the holidays.
My mini's are in a vintage wooden box in the family room and I also have some displayed on a shabby chic shelf in my quest room for easy viewing.

I store mine on some Ikea bookshelves I bought 12 years ago (no longer available) that have wide shelves that are in my scraproom.
Last time I was at Ikea I was so surprised to see that they are now making Billy bookcases with wide shelves. They are 31 1/2 wide, 15 3/8 deep, and 79 1/2 High. They are only 99.00 and I think from looking at them that they would hold more scrapbooks in less floor space than an Expedit would.
I have 4 of those older Ikea bookshelves in my scraproom and the shelves on them are 13" deep. I use the CM albums that fit just perfectly. I would love to have some of my albums in the living room but we have a huge built in that came with the house with corner shelves and they don't fit.

You probably haven't seen my scraproom (although I did share it on my blog once) but if it were perfectly organized, the only scrapbooks you would see are about five that I consider to be "in progress." They have their very own shelving unit.
Chronological year, vacation and theme with photos from 2005-2012 are stored vertically on a very long shelve in my scrapbook desk.
Chronological year, vacation and theme with photos from 2004 and earlier are stacked on a shelf in the scraproom's built-in closet, and I think some of them are on the floor now too. This is a huge and growing number of scrapbooks, as I must pull the oldest ones out of the scrap desk every time I add new ones.
|Posted: 2/28/2013 8:27:52 AM|I posted this last May on a similar thread. I had 118 scrapbooks then, have a few more now. Since then, I had to move several to a bookshelf in a guest room.

I used to keep mine in the Expedit in my craft room until last year. I was running out of storage space in there, and DH suggested putting them on the Living room bookshelves instead.
I much prefer them in the Living Room - I found when we have had family visiting that they now take the albums down and look through them because they are accessible. And really, while I love making my albums and would probably make them just for me, having people being able to see the photos is important too.

|Posted: 2/28/2013 10:51:38 AM|Mine live in the same space as my crafting stuff - I open them for pretty much every layout, so it would be a pain for my process to have them elsewhere really. I have a 5x5 Expedit and it's about half albums, half supplies.
...but then again, I don't have much space to have them anywhere else at home, so I don't really have a choice!

Mine are on a bookshelf in my living room. However my scrapbook space is also in my living room because I live in an apartment and I don't have a lot of space. The bookshelf only has two shelves on it because I use a wheelchair and I am short and cannot reach anything that is up high. A lot of my baskets of scrapbook supplies also are on this bookshelf so I am not sure what I am going to do once I start scrapbooking more frequently. I have one closet for craft supplies also in the living room but the shelf width is way too narrow to put albums on.

I choose out one album at a time and display it open on the sideboard in my lounge, then I change the open page from time to time and eventually swap out to a different album to display whenever I feel like it. The albums that aren't on display live in my sideboard cube shelves.
I also display currently completed LOs on this same sideboard so that I can enjoy them for a while before going into an album. This also gives me the opportunity to ensure that I'm happy with the final look and if I decide tweaking is in order, I do it then.

I used to keep my finished books in my scrapbook room (bottom row of my 5x5 Expedit) but they were using up valuable storage space so now I put them on the Expedit in the family room.
I thought it might encourage the fam to open them and go through them more, too, but so far it hasn't. However I have lots more room in my room, so that's good!!
Side note: I also figured out that I should store empty albums in the family room because it "reserves" a spot for the book once it's full. We're very short on shelf space here so I need to do that!

Newly completed LOs get stood up on display on the sideboard in my lounge so I can continue to enjoy them and be inspired by my work for a while longer before they go into an album.
I also keep an album out on this same sideboard, opened to a page I like, for similar reasons - I like being able to look at it whenever I pass by. Sometimes it even encourages me to flip through it.
Other albums not currently on display are in the lower shelves of the sideboard and get rotated out periodically for display purposes.

My albums all live in my craft room, although I am begining to run out of space for them so may have to think about storage in there again. I have a very old, and shallow, Billy book case which I may need to replace with an Expedit if the space works (it is between the chimney breast and the window, so will either fit or not!).
