Do you make your cards to use them or just as mini art projects?

I make mine to give away, I tend to use my scraps and stamps, and then older product/product I'm not too bothered about scrapping with so that I won't feel "attached" to it when it comes to giving it away. I try to scan or take a photo of cards I make so I at least have some memory of them

I make mine to give away, I always keep a stash put away for last minute needs. Which reminds me, I have to get my nieces birthday card sent out . |

A while back I started putting a basket of cards (current holidays and various occasions) in the teacher's lounge at my son's school, for teachers and staff people to pick up. Not to toot my own horn, but they seem to really appreciate it. |

I make mine to give away as well.
One of these years, I want to build up my stash of cards so I don't always have to rush to create one when an occasion needs it.

A little of both for me. But none go unused...if I don't send them out, I give them to someone who will (other family members, friends, etc). |

I don't know why but I have a hard time giving mine away. Maybe it's because I know the love I put into them and I feel like people don't appreciate them. I am very choosy about who I do give them to, if I give them at all but I like having them as a little box of something I've accomplished. I can look at the designs and go, "You made this!" I need to sell a bunch of them. I think I have about 100 I'm hanging on to!

Use most definitely! But I'm not the type to make up a card from a LO scrap (like the seeing double video series recommends) - that's just not how my inspiration works so cards are made for purpose when I need them.

I also make cards to give away. I try to keep about 20 cards, mostly birthday, made at all times so I'm prepared. If I make one I really like, I will make a duplicate to keep for my portfolio. |

To give away. I make cards for all occasions. One time I was sick and couldn't make my younger sister her card. She was dissapointed but understood I wasn't up to it!
I also make cards for my husband to use. He works in stage theatre and needs thank you cards for cast and crew. He recently said he was looking for generic thank you cards for other people he needs to do them for. I said I could make him some. And then he said to make some male like ones with Tim Holtz stuff That's what I got for complaining that our son was using a bunch of my Tim Holtz paper for his scrapbooking project for school. Though he did say I should print out some coupons and replenish my stash this week. Good answer or else I would still be grumpling! |

I am with Tracie on this one. I have a hard time parting with them. The thought of them possibly ending up in the garbage... I don't know. So, I am very choosy about who I send them too. I too have built up a collection of them. I don't have as many as Tracie, but I do have a bunch. I love looking at them.

I usually make and give away. I do have a few I have saved though!
I love giving them as gift packs too. I have gotten great compliments when given that way. It feels good to use up my supplies and use the massive amount of stamps I've accumulated.
Love the idea of making them for a teachers lounge!

I usually only make a card when I need one. I have been doing a lot of the 2P's Stamp board challenges, but I have two dd's at college so I often send them cards. I ALWAYS take a photo of my card (mostly to upload to a challenge), and I find I get just as much enjoyment looking at the photo as I do looking at the card- maybe even more because I shared that card with someone else. (my dd's put them up in their rooms and tell me that they get lots of comments from friends on the cards.) |

SDeven, that's really sweet of you, esp. since teachers are (IMO) vastly underpaid for the important work they do, & greeting cards are so pricey. |

I have to admit I am like Tracie.
I make cards with the purpose of giving them away, but I enjoy making them so much I have a lot on hand.
If I do make a card specifically for someone, then of course they get that card.
Sad thing is..I do take a photo of every card I make and put it on my blog or YouTube, and I still end up keeping them, lol.
My goal this year is to send out more cards...even if it is a Just Because card. Wish me luck

My cards get given away, thats why I make them
I make them for myself to use (Christmas, birthdays, sympathy, etc.) but I also make cards for our 4-H club. I make probably 30-40 a year for our county leaders club, our teen club and our local dog 4-H club. Most of them are thank you cards for people that have volunteered their time or given us donations. But I've also made get well cards and Christmas cards for trainers and volunteers.

I make lots of cards. I give them away individually as well as making up a box of cards to give as a gift. Like Tracie, I hate to let some of them go, mostly because I want to recreate it, but feel like I won't remember it. So, I keep those until I make it again or take a pic if it is simple to see what I did!

I make cards for me to use to give away for events birthdays, etc., and I give to my sis and a friend from church to use for their card needs.
If I really love a card I create I will try duplicate it so I can use it and save for inspiration. Or if I am being lazy, I will just keep it.
I am going to an all day crop tomorrow and just making cards. My stash needs replenishing |

I usually only make cards for someone specific or an occasion, or I love to make note cards to give as gifts. So I actually do not have many on hand. I think I need to do some challenges to buil up a bit of a stash for those times when I need a card in a hurry.

I keep a few on hand for events and celebrations, but most of them go to Operation Write Home. I enjoy making cards, but the amount that I was making far exceeded the amount that I was using. Now I feel like they are going to people who need something like this. I pray over every card, that the Lord will bless and protect both the Sender and the Receiver of every card that I make. Just a little extra blessing to go along with them! |

I am SO bad about this. I do send them or give them in person to really special people in my life...people that I know won't just toss them the minute that they get them.
But other than that...I am SUCH a hoarder. I think it is because I don't really scrapbook right now. They are my one proof that I actually do create A LOT with all my stuff that takes up an entire room. Ha!
I would love to find a local place to sell some of them...I don't really want to go the Etsy route. Way too much shipping- blech. |

I definitely give mine away. I like to have a good stash of Thank You cards on hand, and it's nice to have some birthday cards and generic (no sentiment) cards at the ready, as well.
What I need to build is a stash of birthday cards for my kids to give... and Bar Mitzvah cards... and...
I rarely make duplicates of a card, for fear I'll send the same one to someone twice! Sometimes I'll make the same design, but with different papers and sentiments.
