The post about opening a store got my friend and I talking. We would rather open some sort of retreat space. She envisions a store front, near lodging and we would only be responsible for the retreat space and not the lodging. What do the peas say?

To me a "retreat space" is all inclusive of lodging, meals, and space to scrap. No need to leave the premises unless I want to leave. That is just based on other retreats I've gone on.

Moving my supplied into my hotel room, then moving them across the street or down the street (walking?) and hauling them back (rain? snow? 110 degree sun? ) doesn't sound appealing. Hauling them up to my hotel room, then later down the elevators into a hotel conference room sounds more appealing to me.

eta: For those who like to scrap late at night a stand alone commercial space may not feel safe after dark as they walk/drive back to a variety of hotels in the area.

Is there something in the area that would draw scrappers in as tourists? Other than just a room to scrap in?

Sounds like a great idea but I think it does need to be "all inclusive". I know when I get to serious scrapping, I don't even like to stop to eat hardly!

There is a scrap retreat place in Lancaster County, PA called cozycrophouse.com if you want to look it up and see what they offer.

One of my friends has a crop space, not retreat. They have crops on the Friday nights, Saturdays & Sundays and provide a few basics.
