I truly hate shoe shopping. Please can I go buy clothes? - anything - a dress, jeans, a bathing suit. Anything but trying to fit my feet. It is awful.

I have a moderately high arch and plantar fasciitis pain in my left foot only. The podiatrist tells me to wear a little bit of heel and not get shoes that are too structured, i.e. not too much arch support. The orthopedist tells me that I should have no heel and good supportive walking shoes for my back. It is so frustrating!

I have tennis shoes that work based on the podiatrist recommendation but I can't order new ones because they have, of course, discontinued my style in the last year. This happened the last time I found ones that fit. I even had to change brands.

There are few shoe stores in my area and even fewer that have anything at all in a wide size.

There are 3 pairs of shoes boxed up and ready to return - mostly sandals. Three other pairs have already been bought and returned this year.

I have to buy shoes in the spring because if I wait I'll never find anything in my size. However, my feet always swell in the summer. I have a nice pair of Birks I wore for several months that suddenly started hurting my feet middle of last summer and I can't wear them anymore. Same thing happened the summer before with expensive sandals I'd worn for 2 years.

If you have picky feet, have you found a walking sandal you love? Any shoe buying recommendations?

I have always had difficulty buying shoes, different problem than yours, pretty much the opposite as a matter of fact. It's a trial and error and of course you find something and it's gone.
The sandals I've found I can wear most often are Clarks and SAS and no they aren't pretty.

SAS clarks

I have narrow flat feet. I've always had a hard time.
Clarks and SAS are the best for me in a sandal keen
my walking shoes are keens, best I've found in years. The sandals aren't pretty but they are comfortable

I have size 12 narrow feet. I also can't wear heels. I don't have alot of choices. I dread shoe shopping.

I have a very tiny foot and heel problems. It was very hard for me to find shoes UNTIL I found Alegrias. Oh my! LOVE them. I think I have almost 20 pair now--sandals and all sorts of cute, super comfortable stuff!

Edited to add that some styles do come in a wide also.

Earth shoes! I have a high arch as well, and they work great.

I shop my shoes and clothes all from this store shopfromshop.com. They have comfatable flat shoes for my size. Although i am not picky in buying shoes, i prefer get it done with the same dealer.

Opposite...my feet are no stress for me! It's the rest of me I'd like to fix

I have a friend with similar trouble. She swears by Clark's...for sandals, have you true Keens? Another choice might be Danskos.

my feet are really small, so i fit into kids shoes, but they are wide, so the width on kid shoes, usually means that they hurt my feet...

plus, i have a bad back, and cant wear any heels, and most kid shoes dont have the support needed

hate shoe shopping!

although whilst in america on holiday, i found a pair of sandal/jogger type of shoe, in kids section, they fit perfectly, look pretty good with most outfits, they are black, and they are so comfy, i only wish i bought several pairs now

oh well

Try New Balance. They have okay looking dress shoes and sandals as well as great walking/tennis shoes. I am a teacher and my feet KILL me...I went to a local New Balance shoe store and now I am able to work all day with minimal fatigue to my feet. Good luck...I feel your pain.

I also hate shoe shopping. I have a wide foot and narrow heel and high arch.

I order from Zappos. I pick a bunch of styles and try them all on at home and can send back all the ones that don't fit for free. So much easier than going store to store.

For sandals I like Clarks, Born, 9 West and Lands End. My favorite sandals for lots of walking are Merrells. Great support.

I have a size 11, extra wide, flat foot, so I definatly feel your pain!
Most shoes that are "wide" are not wide enough.

I love, love, love shoes but can't ever find any I can wear for more than a couple hours, except my asics (which, of course, are not appropriate for all situations)

Believe it or not, the best walking sandal I found was at WalMart. I think the brand is Earth Spirit or something like that. Super comfy, and I have foot problems.

For walking shoes, the Cobbie Cuddlers from K-Mart have also been very comfortable. They say that you can try the shoes, and if they aren't the most comfortable shoe you've ever owned, to return them (or at least they did when I bought them). I ended up buying a second pair eventually. They really are wonderful shoes! Not the prettiest, necessarily, but comfortable.

For me the answer was skechers......I know....weird but true.

I got the tone-up sandals and their delite sneakers. Cured my planters and I can wear the Tone-ups (not shape-ups) all day even shopping.

Once I found what worked for me, I bought 4 pairs of each.

I love the smell of card stock in the morning.....
