I got my ATG in the mail a couple days ago and I just used it for the first time on a layout. The adhesive lays down just fine, but sometimes when I pull the ATG away from the paper, the adhesive stretches and makes little strings that I then have to pick off so they don't make lumps when I put the paper down. I think it might just help to practice more, but in the meantime, does anyone have any tips they'd like to share for using an ATG? Anything you wish someone had told you when you started using yours?

Yes, you need to release the trigger before pulling it off your project.
There's probably youtube videos with more tips, but I never had an issue adjusting to mine.
Keep the instructions for loading the tape handy. At first, I wasn't going through it fast enough to be able to remember each time without the instructions. Also, if you refill it just before you use the last bit and everything is still intact, you can study how it runs through the dispenser. If I let it go completely to the end and the paper comes detached, I have to think harder about how to thread the new roll so it is put on properly.

Welcome to the Club!!! Once you go ATG you'll never go back. I find it just takes some practice and then you get used to it and you'll love it!

If you do it consciously for a time or two, you will be surprised at how instinctive it becomes.
Welcome to the ATG club. Enjoy your new gun!

My tip is to tell you, you do NOT need to use as much adhesive anymore! The other thing, gently lay down the item, do NOT press down UNTIL you are sure it is where it needs to be! My DH uses my PINK ATG too but I warned him that he'd better put it back in the craft room on it's designated shelf! That and my Dahle Cut Cat trimmer that he is always borrowing also.
