|Posted: 4/22/2013 6:08:56 PM|I have too much paper. I know, shocker - most scrapbookers will understand.
I've decided today to purge my paper. I'm even thinking of getting rid of all my cardstock except black, white and kraft! I almost never reach for a color - I'll use a PP instead usually. (I can put it in my kids' craft stash so it won't be far away should I need a piece...)
I'm getting rid of any paper I don't totally love, or is older and thin, single sided, type paper. There are a VERY few sheets of thin paper I'm hanging on to.
This makes me anxious - what if I NEEEEEED it later? BUT - on the other hand - I have too much! I am really happy to be whittling it down to what I can and will really use. So while a small part of me is anxious letting some of the stuff go (lots of it, I'm perfectly fine letting go!), a bigger part of me is relieved to only keep what I know I love and will use!
Had to share here - hubby won't get it the same way fellow scrappers will!

Yay for you!! I did a huge paper purge a few months ago I was ruthless and I purged a crap load of paper it was huge but it felt so good to get it out of my hair. I went to a craft sale and sold it all dirt cheap and the few pads of paper I have left from the sale I am donating to a school scrap program.

I've done big paper purges a few times and I have never regretted it. Congratulations on making space for the things you really love.

|Posted: 4/23/2013 7:14:47 PM|That's great!! I just did a big purge of everything in my craft room and donated it to our local thrift store. It's nice to see *space* and I've outgrown so many of the things I liked before. Good for you! I totally get it . My husband was like, "oh, good". I was thinking - you have no idea how long that took LOL!

I did a major purge a few months a ago. I ended up giving my daughter(20) 2 of the deep iris paper containers full of paper. She loved going through and picking out the papers she wanted. All the stuff she didn't take I gave to a friend. That alone was enough to fill a few paper containers. I still have 7 of them full. I have been using a lot more of the paper now that I have my cricut

Way to go! I have purged my paper a few times and only once did I have a slight regret. The only thin paper I kept was my beloved Chatterbox I still hoard, and maybe a few odd themed ones here and there. I kept my cardstock in all of its colors. I try to use them to mat photos to get through the stash.

Thanks for all the support!! I'm almost done purging paper and am eyeing some other supplies as well!
Hubby only sees $ wasted. I told him I can hang in to it, but realistically it'll never get used, so why? He gets it, he's just not happy about it.

I am also getting ready to purge most of my single sided thin paper and it's only because I don't use it and the more I look through it, it's getting wrinkled on the edge. I'm spoiled to thick now and the thin seems like it's from the 80's.

Good luck! I'm considering getting rid of my oldest papers too. I don't have too many, maybe a few dozen sheets at most, but I think it is kind of stifling. Having it around makes me feel guilty for using my new stuff because I feel like I should be using the older things first. I don't want any guilt associated with my hobby!

Good for all of you that have lightened your stash burdens. I'm overdue, but I'm not adding to it, at least.
Yes. I can appreciate DH's p.o.v. about $ waste, but the rewards of clearing the deck--even a little--can outweigh the dollars spent.

I feel more productive since I purged. I know what I have and don't waste time digging through paper I will never use. Now I keep a box handy for purging all the time. It is going to a senior center where my SIL is activities director.
As to DH, we have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy about scrapbook supplies!

|Posted: 4/24/2013 11:09:57 AM|I am in the midst of an over haul. One thing I started doing with some of my colored card stock I won't use is using it to stabilize thinner patterned paper! I still have some thin sheets that I love so it work out great!
|Posted: 4/24/2013 11:30:40 AM|I'm thinking of purging some older paper too. I've got a neighbor that does an after school program with kids whom I've donated to before and I'm sure she would love to get some more. Now I just need to make time to dig in and do it.

I have done it and then regretted it. I won't ever do that again. Even if the paper is not super trendy I so could have made birthday cards to all my kid's friends.
