are a lot of these "new" collections starting to all blend together? Maybe I've spent too much time online at the 2Peas store - but everything is starting to look kind of similar. For example, I like the new Simple Stories "summer" collection - but I feel like I've seen it before. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE buying stamps - but I haven't had the urge to buy anything new in a while because they're all starting to look the same too.

Is it just me? Be honest, I can take it. Maybe it's just me.

I DO think it's not quite as easy to tell which line is which anymore. I remember a time when that was REALLY easy.

I didn't think about that. You're right. So many of these companies are becoming sister companies too. Like American Crafts owns - AC, Pebbles, Crate Paper and they make Studio Calico. Did these companies used to exist on their own?? Like Crate Paper?? Was that bought out by AC?

I agree that some are blending together. Then also, MME comes out with lines that I wouldn't think are theirs as it seems so much "cleaner" than their typical. It's confusing me!!

We had this conversation at my LSS the other day and we were saying how a lot of the designers will also go to different companies and then they bring out some of the similar designs.

I had never thought about that....

I wonder if that's what happened at Fancy Pants. This is the first time I've ever purchased one of their lines, but I couldn't get enough of Trend Setter.

I agree with you ,that alot of the lines out right now are very similar and I also feel that way about so many popular scrapbookers LO's. Alot of them tend to look alike. Thankfully my favorite scrapbookers are staying true to their styles. Someone askes about crate paper and yes it is now under ACs as well.

I see what you're saying, because a lot of them have similar colors, but the words and themes differ enough that one line doesn't appeal to me but another does. Did that make sense?

I've seen this a lot over the years. A design or color becomes popular then most of the companies come out with their version, which looks a lot like everyone else's version. I don't like it when there isn't much else available. I remember having to wait out the doodle fad before I found anything I wanted to buy.

Yes! The only company I've seen stay consistent with a certain look is Doodlebug. Even Echo Parks primary colors have become muted.

I think some of this is just the natural ebb and flow of current trends.

Think about all the "trendy" things we see in scrapbooking (or in fashion and home decor for that matter).

I remember the first time I saw a wood grain paper - now it seems like MOST lines have their version of "woodgrain". Then there are mason jars, cameras, doilies, teal-is-the-new-blue, distress EVERYTHING,birds/cages, owls, mushrooms and....you can keep going backwards and seeing scrapping trends. One line does it, other designers/companies see it's popularity and jump on the bandwagon... so lots of lines start feeling similar.

American Crafts also produces Dear Lizzy and Amy Tangerine, right?

I agree with you! not sure which company started out with navy and now it's all over the place, just like mint green. Don't get me started on arrows and chevrons.

On this note ya know what bugs me? When companies reuse the same pattern in entire lines just changing the colors. Basic Grey always seemed like that to me. Change smaller details and colors but the bones remain the same.
