Okay, I just had my last photos developed by Costco. They have never been that good but I stuck with them when went out of business.

I picked up my latest order and the white border is all brownish. This is typical and I have to have them reprint them every time. I make a comment about it when I pick them up each time and no one has ever said anything to me. Today, the manager (who I've dealt with before) tells me that I have auto-correct turned on when I check out and that their machines 'spread' the color so that it bleeds from the photo to the white border and 'drains' it from the actual photo. So my photos are washed out and dark and I have brown borders instead of white.

So I went home, re-did the order and unchecked the auto correct. I picked the reprints up and its the same thing. And there are lines running down the white border part.

I need these photos printed and I'm looking for a place to get matte photos printed. Not glossy. Is there anyplace that has a matte option? I'm looking at places like Walgreens, CVS etc.

I just got off the phone with CVS and they don't have that option anymore. So I'm guessing that I'm stuck ordering them online from now on just to get the matte option. Or is there a place that has matte and I can pick them up tonight or tomorrow morning? I have a 3 day crop I'm going too and I've been dealing with this for over a week now. I'm kicking myself for not ordering from a website sooner but I didn't think I would get them in time.

Sadly I'm desperate enough to actually go to Walmart right now.

Walmart here has matte too -- the one hour printed using their big machine are better IMHO than the ones that come right out of the machine more quickly.

Do you have any local photo developers? They are usually more expensive, but better quality. This place charges 29 cents/print and offers matte.

I was going to say the same thing. Find a different photo printer. These big box stores never do very well with the printing. The machines never get cleaned or whatever like they should. For an online place, MPIX I think it is called isn't too bad. They have matte finish. I have used them. They are a bit pricier. But you get what you pay for. I turned off the auto correct right away with them too. I like them. I also do use Shutterfly.. but not sure they print in matte finish.

If you do the Walgreens one hour photo and you have the option to choose the real digital size (4" by 5.3", or some size like that, assuming that you Arn't using a DSLR and get actual 4x6 size) then they're matte.

The actual 4x6 photo option for the one hour is glossy.

At least this is what I have found at our Walgreens where I get my pics printed all the time.
