Playing with my new Cameo today and trying my first cuts. Is there a setting I need to place when inserting the cutting mat. My image I have selected to cut is cutting in the area outside the grid lines on the cutting mat. It is almost like the mat is not feeding far enough in? Does that make sense? I am sure it is a setting thing. Quick help would be appreciated!

Make sure you select "load mat" and not "load media". Hope this helps

No. I wouldn't load paper without cutting mat. I think you can load vinyl and some other stuff that may have its own backing but not just cardstock or paper.

Congrats.. I was cutting right away with no problem. I am a new user too.
Someone told me of a fab site. It is not any company or a company site. IT has message boards like this.. there are tons of tips & tutorials, questions, tons of free images, tons more. It is free. It is for the silhouette & cameo. Do a search for silhouette plus zeta boards. You will find everything you need there. I am still downloading all the images. They are silhouette ready. You will find this your new place.
also you can search pinterest for some tutorials & images & tips etc too

Thank you so much dald222! I was disappointed to find that there was not a users forum on the Silhouette site. I will definitely be checking that out. I have already got several of their boards followed on Pinterest. My next question is, I have been just curretly buying my vinyl from Hobby Lobby for my Cricut but would like to venture into doing some things with the vinyl for outdoors - namely labeling our coolers, we camp a lot, and need another good suggestion for buying that type of vinyl online.

I knew my peas would have the answer! I dont post much, lurk a lot, but the information gathered here is always invaluable!!

I haven't even tried to cut anything but paper yet. The latest thing is a 3d piano card that was on the plus site. It is so cool. check it out in the card section of the free images section.
Good luck with your vinyl.

I sent you pea mail about where I purchase vinyl. You will so enjoy all the things you can do with vinyl. I put a welcome sign on my front door in script. I made t-shirts for my daughters brownie troop. Of course there are words on the wall. My friend made an awesome plaque for me using the vinyl as a stencil.

You will have so much fun
