Happy Tuesday! Today is all about splashes of color, or not. LOL!

Here is your challenge/prompt for today!

Create a project using at LEAST FOUR different colors (not just different shades but totally different COLORS) and NO neutrals. The only thing that can have neutral in it is your pictures if you are using them.

Make sure to link up in the challenge gallery, check out Stefanyb123's free sil files, and leave some praise/love for the others!

Question for chatting for today: What do you find the HARDEST to work with in relation to embellishments in your creations?

Good morning Crystal. For me, making embellishment clusters is hard. I love how they look on other people's layouts. But I just can't seem to get them right on my own.

Wow Crystal this challenge has me stumped, but I will make an attempt.

I agree that embellishment clusters always seem to look better on other people's layout than my own. Also when I want the embellishment to have dimension and it comes out flat regardless of pop dots.

This challenge is going to be hard for me too as I ALWAYS start with kraft, cream or white cardstock LOL!

Embellishement clusters are rough on me too, I am not a big embellisher but I WANT to be LOL!

That IS a challenge! I think I will be doing good to scrap anything. My dd doesnt like it when Mommy scraps because she has to sit in a swing or bouncer. We are making progress though! She finally found a show she likes enough to sit and watch!

I am embellishment challenged. I rarely do more than stickers or diecuts lol

Ooh, I like today's challenge. I'm with everyone else. I love clusters but I could never seem to put together anything that I was happy with. I've been working on them a lot lately though with Glitter Girl's help.

I also have a hard time with ribbon. I love the look on cards but I can't do bows or anything fancy to save my life. If I'm scraplifting a card and it has a bow on it, I usually just use a flat strip of ribbon and be done with it.

Oooohhhh...this challenge is screaming Halloween page to me! I'm excited to give it a try!

As for embellishments I have a hard time stamping. I love how it looks when other people do it but always feel it looks kind of juvenile when I try it! Case in point:

This is going to be a toughie for me...I ALWAYS use white somewhere on my page!

Question for chatting for today: What do you find the HARDEST to work with in relation to embellishments in your creations?

Sometimes I have a hard time finding ROOM on my layouts for embellishments. My layouts are pretty photo heavy; I rarely do single photo or one page layouts. I also always but a title on my page so after all those photos and title sometimes there is little room left for the pretties! I have even been known to remove a photo in order to make space for a embellishment cluster and/or journaling.

I am one of those who has continued to use colors even though so many "new" trendy layouts seem to have kraft or white or another neutral as the background color. Someone even posted about considering getting rid of her colored cardstock. Not me- I still use it a lot.

Now I need to play catch up since I was away the weekend and had to work yesterday. I am determined to make the 31 LOADs!

For the chatting question answer: The hardest thing I find to work with are embellishments that don't have anything to do with the photos. I see packs with vintage farm stuff, old fashioned sewing dummies, old fans, telephones, etc. I just can't bring myself to use embellishment images that have nothing at all to do with the photos. Several times I have not bought a collection pack because of the stickers or printed chipboard images.

I have this same issue...when owls were all the rage I simply could not bring myself to use them more than once or twice because I HAVE to tie the embellishment in to the page in some way, even if it's through a corny title like "you're a hoot" (about my daughter's sense of humor).

Here's a link to my project from yesterday, in case you guys aren't likely to go back to the old thread:

I agree about liking and trying to theme match the embellies to the layouts. I keep telling myself "basics" when I shop so I don't end up with items that don't work into my usual topics.

I like my colors to blend/match on the page, so some embellishments never find a home as they are the wrong color.

And my other embellishment issue is organizing them so I can find them easier so they can be tried on a page. I moved most of the embellies to color organization and that is helping.

ohh do you LIKE color organization? I do that with my paper but for some reason doing it with my embellishments didn't work for me, they are done by type, strange huh?

I sort my cardstock by color but I have a hard time sorting PP. I tend to organize my embellishments by theme (birthday, baby, Christmas' etc) then everything else is a free for all! Lol...My craft room seems to be a constant work in progress!

I have a hard time spraying mist on my LO's. I love the look of others LO's but when I look at mine, they wrinkle and just seem yucky to me. I would love some input from people who have success with spraying. Maybe I am using the wrong type of sprays. There are so amny types out there.

Late getting to the party today!! I finished yesterday's layout, but still need to upload. Haven't gotten to todays yet... hopefully I will have a little scrapping time tonight.

As far as pages, I find the last 20% of the page the toughest... the part where you add the final details. I have a hard time leaving the page alone, and finding the place where it's just right.

OK..here's today's LO. I love to use color on my pages, I actually find it harder to build a page on plain white cardstock. Anyway, I created this LO of Halloween last year. I used an old CTMH kit called Hooligans and went old school with 3D stickers. Super easy today because I've developed a headache, but it's another day done and another LO I can load into my album so it's all good!!! I wish I had stuff to add splatter to this page though! I think it would really have finished it off!!

I'm being a forum hog! lol but I also shared another LO today on another thread I thought I'd share with you guys too! They were talking about the nautical themes that are coming out and asking whether or not people like them and whether or not they are just for beach/cruise/coastal pics. I shared this LO that I made for Eli's album documenting his birth story. I was trying to show that you can really use the nautical theme for any topic, you just have to think out of the box a little! I, personally love the theme and hope it sticks around for a while!

Kimberly: your layout is not showing up; I am getting a server error message.

Yay! for Crystal's little boy.

I made a layout today but totally ignored the prompt; I'm not posting it because I basically scraplifted myself from yesterday so the layout looks very similar.

Looking forward to tomorrow!

thank you, Marilyn, I think that happened when I was adding the journaling. Seems ok now.

As far as difficulty with embellishments, I think they are ALL tricky for me to work with. I have stopped buying embellishment packs, buttons, brads, etc. b/c I found that I only use pp and cardstock. If I want a shape, I usually cut it out of pp b/c I enjoy fussy cutting

Okay I'm too behind on these threads! I need to post my Day SIX challenge, and the conversation here is all about seven! LOL.

I think I'll upload my Six and Seven on this thread and start catching up by at least chatting with you all in the morning. I'm probably gonna be the thread killer on this one.

Here is my Day Six, I didn't do the sketch, I worked on a NSD challenge for Two Peas here, Focus on the Photo:...

This page is a lift from a Jana Eubank page.

Thanks for looking.

Since this was easy- neon is "in" now and I had photos from my dd's the last day of classes celebration. Her sorority all wore neon pink with neon yellow lettering. No neutrals. I also cut some sunglasses with my new Cameo, and the title letters AND used some stickers that had been hanging around.

Now 7 done for the 31 May Challenge.

Thanks Crystal, for organizing this! Great motivator. I am a little behind, but I have the rest of the day to myself to catch up- only 5 more to go to 12.
