Hi Peas!

Did anyone else order Kelly Purkey's June and July project kits? Or the last kit?

I missed out on the first kit a few months ago! I hemmed and hawed over it. once i saw the summer colors for June/July, I was in love! I'm anxious to get my goodies.

I pretty much just purchased everything from KP's new release, including the project kit and - I think - all the stamps. Darnit!

I ordered last months. It was good, not sure it's worth $50 though. I'm not ordering the June/July one, but we'll see about the next one

@paperpilekitten - Very cute! Loved your blog post. Thanks for sharing. I hadn't seen the kit. But WOW!!, $50 is a lot of money for that kit though! Can't wait to see what you do with it.

I couldn't resist it, I know the first one didn't get rave reviews, but this one looks too good to pass up!

I ordered it. Loved the stamps.
Also got the bacon love and feed me flair.

I added up all the items and it was $44 before all the cards so I figured it was a decent deal. I don't subscribe to any other kits and I'll get a lot of use out of this one.

Thanks! Yes, you have to be inventive when it comes to excuses to buy scrappy stuff when you already spent your scrap budget for this month.

I heard that the last kit it was not that great of a deal $$ wise. That wouldntnbother me that much if I would have heard that the kit was amazing... I get the SC kit and Citrus Twist (PL) and I'd like to try check this one out too. Debating.

I just got this kit in the mail yesterday, and I'm really disappointed. The photos make it look loaded with good stuff, but what I now realize is that they separated the BG 6x6 paper pack into separate pages to make it look so much more full. My letter stickers are a little off, with a tiny bit of white at the top of all the letters and numbers and the labels are a bit off too. And there's a spelling error! (TWELEVE - as in 2012, but it's 2013, so that's not useful anyway).

Maybe it's technically the price of what you would pay, but I expect more when you get a kit. There are exactly 10 sequins. Really. 10.

Anyway, I think I want to stop getting my SC kit too. This month with no embellishments sort of decides it for me. Someone here brought up the question of how long you could go without buying and just using your stash. This kit makes me feel like that's what I really need to be doing. I have enough.

The stamps are really nice, though. I love stamps and think I will use these ones a lot.

I liked this kit but didn't love the letterpress cards. They were ombre/faded but way too faded. The initial photos from this kit didn't have that dramatic fading. Contact SSS about the typo ... you'll get a $5 credit toward your next order.

It was really tempting but the price was why I decided not to get it, yes it's 2 months worth so it's only $25 per month but it's out of my budget for the moment. I will probably hold off for the August/September kit and try it to see how I like it but since I already sub to Studio Calico (which is actually cheaper), I'll probably pass on doing this regularly.

bab, my letter stickers are fine. You should contact SSS and ask them to send you a new sheet. And a few more sequins while they're at it - I got 17 in my box.

Oh, I'm loving the stamp, too!

I added up the kit contents and they are worth (retail) $46.77 PLUS all the cards. And, for comparison, Elle's Studio are pricing their 6-packs of 3x4 cards at $3.79. There are 24 printed cards in the KP kit, so that makes another $15.16, landing at $61.93.
Then we have 8 plain white and kraft cards (3x4) plus one white double card with a die cut edge. I don't know how to set a price on those, maybe someone could help me out? Finally, 2 birch wood veneer papers worth $3.33. So a total of $65.26 plus those plain cards.

I would call that a good value for a kit. I added up the value for the Happy Little Moments class kits from SC and I don't remember the exact amount, but they were far from the price tags.

Looking up all these prices makes me realize that KP's kit is not overpriced - on the contrary - but the prices on scrapbooking supplies in general have definitely gone up lately. Not pointing any fingers at the stores and resellers because I don't think they have more than a 50% margin which is low, and I'm sure they are struggling. But someone somewhere must be making a good profit?

Take the KP golden sequins as an example. I got 17 in my kit. To determine the value, I looked up the original KP pack of sequins. Turns out that you get 0.5 teaspoon for $1.99. My 17 sequins took up almost 1/8 of a teaspoon measure, so about 20 sequins would be worth about 50 cents?

Let's just say that I'm happy buying my sequins in fairly big containers from my local fabric shop. But now I'm thinking of repacking them in glassine bags and sell on Etsy. lol!

And earlier today I was in search of my favorite rhinestone stickers: Doodlebug's mini jewels. Well, turns out that they aren't so "mini" anymore. You used to get 84 rhinestones for $3.99. Now you get 45 rhinestones for $4.99. I'm not buying.
