Everyone knows about the 6 degrees of separation theory, right? That you're only a few relationships away from a famous person? Maybe your hairstylist's cousin's babysitter grew up with Bon Jovi or something?

I realized the other day that I actually have a couple that are pretty interesting and I thought it could be fun to hear yours.

1. President Obama. I was an admin at a law firm many years ago. Don Verrilli, Jr. was a partner at that law firm. He is now the Solicitor General of the US. So, just a few degrees away from the President.

2. The Voice judges: I went to middle and high school with the Madden brothers (Joel and Benji); we were in the same class. Joel Madden was Shakira's team advisor on this season of the Voice. So, Blake, Adam, Shakira, and Usher and I are practically BFFs, right?

Those are my best ones -- what about you?

There was a serial killer in Texas who would only surrender himself to a specific Texas Ranger. That Ranger lived next door to my sister. How's that for a morbid one?

I worked with a woman who went to high school with Patrick Swayze.

A woman I know has a best friend who is a personal assistant to Steven Spielberg.

Can't wait to see what everybody else posts.

I am my Pastors assistant and their son was in a Tyler Perry movie and was discovered by Gayle King and Tyler. A few weeks ago, my Pastors went to a movie premiere party at Tyler's house! Also, a lady I worked with last week knows Oprah Winfrey.

Boy that sounded braggy. ha-ha!!!!

Oh wait! One of our friends has produced Justin Bieber recently! He is the most humble unassuming guy too. He produced the entire soundtrack for the movie, The Lorax (Dr. Suess) and has won many grammys. He's brilliant.

I don't know if those really count as six degrees though in the traditional sense. I love to know successful people. It inspires me to be more successful.

I'm gonna talk about French people, so you probably will not recognize their names but :

- I went to High school with Guillaume Depardieu (maybe you know the father, Gerard).

- my husband gave math lessons to one of the personal assistant of Carla Bruni (wife of the last French president)when she was younger.

My former art history professor is cousins with Sharon Stone

My former English professor dated a girl who either dated or went to high school (or both, I can't remember) with Brad Pitt

A former college friend was George Lucas' bank teller once

They were filming a movie across the street from where DH works and he had to stop his car so Charlize Theron could jaywalk across the street, DH swears she smiled at him. Does that count?

Fun thread!!! I'm only associated with anyone famous thru a past job. Years ago, when I worked in Customer Service at JCrew... I had to work the Christmas Eve daytime shift and ended up taking an order from Ricki Lake's Assistant who was placing an order for Ricki Lake in the tune of around $2600. There were several other such orders that even included talking to actual famous person as they were placing an order for themselves. The one order that will forever stand in my mind was when my friend (who was seated next to me) was taking an order and I happened to glance at her screen (I was between calls) and realized that she was taking an order for a very, very famous person whom I adore. He was ordering a couple of items for his daughter but he was using his regular name instead of his stage name. My friend didn't have a clue who she was talking because she didn't recognize the real name. By the time, she'd finished the call I was about to shriek!!! I was so excited that I had to put my phone on break so I could explain to her that she'd just completed an order from Jon Bon Jovi!!!! I'm sure it's a good thing that I didn't get the call because I seriously don't know if I could have held my composure during it, lol!

I've met Rhonda Anderson, founder of Creative Memories, as well as Ali Edwards, and Becky Higgins and Heidi Swapp were the teachers on a cruise I was on. I met Ted Neeley, the actor who played Jesus in the "Jesus Christ Superstar", when he was performing in a traveling production of the show. I've also met lots of Canadian politicians and performers/artists through my journalism work.

My parents have met Prince Andrew, his ex Sarah Ferguson, and Prince Charles through my dad's architectural work. DH also likes to tell the story of driving out of a hotel loading zone and nearly hitting the car that Prince Charles was travelling in. (Thank goodness it was "nearly"!)

DH's friend from Bible quizzing days (a guy named Paul Ens) was the webmaster for the Star Wars movies -- he had a fan website that was better than Lucasfilm's official site, so they hired him and moved him and his family to San Francisco (from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) to run the official website. He was featured in "People" magazine on their "IT List".

My dad's best friend from high school (still friends to this day, and they are in the 70s) is a doctor, and he worked in Zaire (now the Congo) with Glenn Close's father.

I think that's it....

My dad used to play cards with Donna Reed's brother (she is from a town 9 miles from where I grew up in Iowa).

My husband worked for NASA in the mid-90's and had to go to Houston for work. He was lucky enough to ride on the "Vomit Comet" with one of the projects he was working on and even luckier than puking your guts out in zero G's, he got to puke with Kevin Bacon, Tom Hanks, Bill Pullman & Gary Sinese. They were there for research for the movie Apollo 13. He even has Kevin Bacon's autograph on a barf bag.

My dad was friends with Don Coscarelli and Kate Coscarelli when we lived in California. I have apparently swum in her pool, although I would have been too young to remember it or care about it. From that connection, I can pretty much get to anyone in Hollywood in just a couple steps.

My sister was in line in front of Demi and Scout skiing in Sun Valley. And she met President George H W Bush, while in office.

Hmmm, I will play. DH's cousin's(my favorite) husband's daddy was married to Sandra Bullock's grandmother. She did a fabulous catering spread for the family after the funeral and poppa talks about all the visits he had with Sandra and Jessie James. He said Jessie was very considerate of his diklike of tattoos and would wear long sleeves when they were there.

My mom was a legal secretary for a man who had previously been on a government detail "spying" on MLK. MLK went to the same seminary my mother's aunt was a secretary at, and my dad used to speak to him regularly when he went to pick my aunt up after work.

I'm fascinated by how close we really are to such historic people and events.

I was going to school at Illinois State University while Sean Hayes was there. I was even taking a class in the music/theatre building at that time.

In my first career, my boss at the lab's brother was married to Cindy Crawford's sister.

My DD is friends with Mary McDowell's (Dances with Wolves and Battlestar Galactica) niece.

This a funny one. Many years ago my mom was in the hospitality management program at the local community college. Her class helped out at the pre-Super bowl party - this was in the 80s, the first Super Bowl in Tampa. Some of them were taking a break and this guy came and sat down with them. She said he had lots of hair and was dressed crazy, but he was actually very polite and funny. She had no idea who it was. Turned out it was David Lee Roth!

I also went to high school with Octavia Spencer (The Help). She was 2 yrs ahead of me.

My BIL, for whatever reason, is buddies with several famous people including Jenny McCarthy and Carson Kressley. And several professional hockey players... He got to go to a team celebration in Vegas and drink out of the Stanley Cup one year.

Parker Posey is from my hometown. Her father owns one of our local car dealerships. She was the crazy girlfriend in You've Got Mail.

I met Vince Neil at an after party after a horrible motley crue concert. I wasnt a fan, my now ex-husband was. I was getting an autograph and Vince decided to feel me up in the process. I was too shocked to respond as I am at least half a foot taller than him and he had on more makeup and hair product than I have ever worn. But I totally had famous hands on my boobs. When I was a kid I was in a fourth of July parade with a couple wrestlers. Jimmy snooka and Ricky Hunter and I have pictures with them.

I once worked with one of Donnie and Marie Osmunds Cousins when I worked at Perfect Look. There was a New Store Open and there was Stylists from all around ORegon that came and worked for the grand opening week. I actually got the station right next to her. We spent the whole 12 days together. We had to work the week before to help set everything up and then we worked the opening together.

I live down the road from Patrick Duffy's ranch

When my husband was a baby Jimmy Dean carried him on to an airplane for his mom.

When I was in high school my sister won tickets to a Conway Twitty concert and took my mom and they went back stage and met him and then got to ride in his limo with him. I have pictures of the three of them standing in front of the limo.

I went to the same high school with one of the lady pro bowlers Stephanie Nation and I bowled with her in a pro/am bowling tournament a few years ago. and My Daughter's high school bowling team got to bowl with her the same year. We have pictures with her.

Happy scrapping

My dh's Sunday school teacher in 4th grade was Mrs. Carlson, who is the mother of Gretchen Carlson, former Miss America and a current Fox News host. DH also attended high school with Gretchen, but as he is two years older (and a geek) they never ran in the same circles.

My dad was 2nd cousin to Hubert Humphrey, Vice President of the United States in the 60s. I guess that makes me 2nd cousin once removed? Dad was very proud of this association, and that he shared the same initials (HHH) with the vice-president.

Hubby & I arranged for an early check-in (friday lunchtime) at a hotel connected to a Casino / Conference centre / Movie theatre complex. (We always have a "Couple break" when I attend a residential Scrapping event in a nice location).

I arrived ahead of Hubby so was shown up to the suite, the Concierge explained the facilities, our bags were in & I had just closed the door on all the staff when the doorbell rang.... Not Hubby, not the Staff, It was Clint Eastwood! He had just checked out of our suite, had left his cellphone charger behind the bar- the premiere of his movie "Invictus" had been held at the Movie Complex the night before.

Not sure this qualifies, and as this is on the GS board I will own up to being a rotten scrapper: I was too starstruck to ask for a picture!

My hubby's best friend is former WWE wrestler and now actor Robert Maillet. For those who don't know him, he played the 7 foot tall thug that wrestled with Robert Downey Jr in the first Sherlock Holmes movie. He also appears as the Uber Immotal in 300 with Gerard Butler. He also was in a movie with Antonio Banderras and is also in the upcoming Del Torro movie Pacific Rim starring Charlie Hunnam from Sons of Anarchy...so just by knowing him, we have moved up the chain of who we are degrees from. The best part, a producer on one of his films asked my hubby to act in one. That was cool.

Just for the record, Robert is the nicest guy on the planet. Look for him this Summer in Pacific Rim. He is also in Mortal Instruments City of Bones.....which to me is awesome cause he met Lily Collins and she has worked with Karl Urban.....my fav so that makes me 3 degrees from KARL URBAN.....faints.....

I love the smell of card stock in the morning.....

The Movie poster that is my avatar is very special cause my husband is in it and it won best film at the Canadian Film Festival in 2012. See it......It's super funny.

Lots of Canadian Content here.

My mom is close friends with Farley Mowat and his wife Clare.

My dad worked in the bar when and where Stompin Tom acquired the "Stompin" part of his name

I worked in a tuxedo rental shop during university and I was totally reamed out by Mike Duffy who was a journalist at the time for not having a shirt big enough for his fat neck. If you have been watching the news lately I am loving the what goes around comes around and karmas a bitch that appears to be happening to him.

At the same shope I also fitted Brian Mulroney, Ben Mulroney, Luc Robitaille, Stefan Richer, Glenn Healy, Claude Lemiuex John Manley and lots of Ambassadors and high ranking politicos for tuxedos or morning suits. All of them very nice except for Mike Duffy and Elizabeth Manley who thought their celebrity entitled them to special treatment above and beyond what every customer got

Please ignore the typos..I do know how to spell, I DON"T know how to type

The closest I have is my aunt and uncle went to high school with David Hasselhoff. Yes, THE Hoff. Jealous?
