|Posted: 5/16/2013 8:47:20 PM|has white powdery stuff all over the back... it's almost like the paper has started to break down. When I tried to take the piece off, it just rips apart from the adhesive.
It is stored in an iris box with all the paper and diecuts... nothing else is doing this, so I know it's not where it is stored.
Has anybody else had any problems with chipboard doing this???
|Posted: 5/17/2013 4:46:57 AM|Not the powdery stuff, and not Maggie Holmes, but I have had problems separating the sticker from the backing paper before... I have no idea what causes it...
Only way I was able to separate them without doing too much damage or pulling off all the back of the sticker was to start at the edge of the sheet, and with a pin try to separate the backing from the sticker... I would try to get the pin into the 'adhesive' layer/space... If it went into the chipboard at all, that's where things would separate... Once I got a good section of the backing paper up, I gently pulled it all off and put the stickers on other backing paper that had space on it... For one or two of the large stickers I didn't have any other backing paper around so I chose to stick those to kraft paper (to try and match the chipboard colour), and the cut them out... They weren't 'stickers' anymore, but at least they weren't damaged...

I had a problem with my Maggie Holmes chipboard as well. I couldn't punch out the pieces without the back tearing. I had to take my scissors and score the backing then push the chipboard piece from the front to the back. It mostly worked. I also had to be very careful pulling off the backing, it was so sticky that it would pull the back of the chipboard with it if I wasn't careful enough.

I guess I'm going to try to pull off the back and make them not stickers anymore, which is fine... I just hope they don't disinegrate any more after I put them on a page. So weird!

I've had this happen with other chipboard letters and yes I just rip the adhesive off and they've worked fine. No further breakdown in my albums so hope you have the same experience!
