I would like to begin project life but I would like to combine the PL layouts in albums with my regular 12x12 layouts so everything would be in chronological order. Does anyone do this? I am having a difficult time figuring it out.

I do (though I use 8.5x11).

I usually document my most important (and I use that term loosely) stories as layouts. All the small stuff gets put in divided pages protectors, stuff like fav photos that don't have a story attached, funny things my kids say, seasonal stuff (like spring flowers), and lots of everyday stuff... basically the stuff I want to remember but don't want to make a layout about.

My personal process is to make the layouts first and fill with the divided page protectors later. I keep story cards with quotes, notes, and stories that I use to fill in my journalling when working on the PL style stuff. I don't keep a set schedule. Just fill in as needed. Sometimes I'll have a divided page protector that covers a week or a month or a season. I just place it in where it feels appropriate. I don't worry too much about exact date when filling, I just file by season and get it as close as possible (though I do try really hard to get it in order if it part of a flow of an overarching story).

Ditto to what Chriss said above. I also do 8 1/2 x 11. Love it!

I have plans to do this! I'm using PL for a month in review. I make sure that I use the front and back of each page for the month, I don't limit my self to a certain number of pages per month. Meaning if I only used 1 page protector the beginning of the month starts on the right page when in the album and the end of the month is on the back and is on the left side of the album. (I hope that makes sense). This way I can add regular layouts behind my PL Los for that month.
I haven't done any 12x12 pages yet because I have another project that is taking my time.

I do. I been using divided pages for almost 6 years now. Before it was called "PL". I usually incorporate that system when I have a ton of photos that I want to include in my story or layout. I am not a PL'r at all, I do have some of the PL cards and I also use regular journaling cards, I cut my own with cardstock and patterened paper. I don't use the PL page protectors, usually I by the WRMK or AC.

Yes, I do. I am doing monthly spread, and in March, we got some extra photos during spring break and one of them is 8x10 and one is 5x7. So, I inserted a regular 12x12 page protector in between the divided pocket pages and will do a two-sided layout for those photos.
