Letter from Editor posted on CK-same link as posted below. What are your thoughts?
It reads:

Hi Everyone - I'm listening.

Over the past 72 hours, I've read each and every message that's been posted in response to our announcement that the ClubCK forum is being discontinued.

I've not only read your words, but I've heard you as well. I've absorbed the anger, frustration, sadness, and confusion, and the gratitude, too. Your feelings are completely earned, and each one of you has the right to think and feel the way you do. And on behalf of the entire Creating Keepsakes team, I'd like to say a heartfelt thank you to SnowBunny for her post here on this thread as well as everyone on this thread, and this one too.

I understand the ClubCK forum has been a place where friendships are forged and unconditional support is offered among those who would otherwise be unknown to one another. We're honored to have provided a platform that brought you all together in such a meaningful way.

On that note, I'd like to tackle some of the questions and speculative comments offered in your posts. Several people have wondered if discontinuing the ClubCK forum is a step toward the end of Creating Keepsakes, so that's the first thing I want to clear up.

Creating Keepsakes is here to stay, as are CKC Events. We've certainly implemented changes in the past few years, including our recent shift to publishing our full issue digitally with a reduced-size print issue. In fact, it was because of our savvy online and digital community that we've been able to do this ahead of the curve. Most of you understand that we're running a business within a rapidly evolving market for both publishing and scrapbooking. And many fellow players - from magazines to manufacturers - have folded under the pressure over the past few years. However, we're continuing to keep our legacy of scrapbooking inspiration strong in order to bring Creating Keepsakes to you via multiple channels and formats.

Another commonly expressed sentiment is with regard to where creative sharing can happen if not on the ClubCK forum. Someone also mentioned that it seemed odd for us to dissolve the forum when we're embracing the digital world of publishing. That's the main reason we're keeping the gallery available, because the ability to share your layouts online with one another has always been the heartbeat of the scrapbooking community. We'll continue to feature layouts from the gallery in the Reader Gallery section of our regular issues as well as in posts on the Creating Keepsakes blog.

A few posters noted that we've been focusing our attention on creative sharing options within our social media communities on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and our blog. While we understand that everyone may not be interested in these options, we look forward to seeing you there if you're willing to pop in and say hello. We have a lot of fun in all those places with giveaways, challenges, and overall creativity and hope you'll join us.

Most of all, though, I'm surprised to hear from so many of you who are active in the ClubCK community yet are not actively subscribing to Creating Keepsakes magazine. For this reason, I want to invite everyone to check out our upcoming July/August issue for free in its entirety. We've set up a special link that's simple and requires no login set-up. You'll be able to access everything in the issue exactly as if you had a subscription.

Once you click on the link, all you'll need to do is enter your email address to be automatically directed to the full issue digitally. The link won't be live until the digital issue is released on June 4, but I'm posting it here now so you can bookmark it if you wish: www.creatingkeepsakes.com/augustdigital.

I'll be monitoring this forum until June 15 and will respond to questions, concerns, and comments as needed. You all have my sincerest thanks for the passion, support, and even the constructive criticism you've offered in response to our announcement. We appreciate all of you very much!

Digital Managing Editor CK FORUMS CLOSING
This is the post:
Club CK Forum Participants,

We at Creating Keepsakes are grateful for the readers that are part of Club CK; for the creativity you share, the enthusiasm you have for the hobby, and your dedication to preserving your memories and improving the craft. As we move our focus towards online initiatives, we are evaluating all aspects of our business.

In looking at Club CK and the areas it offers our readers we feel the focus should be on creativity and idea sharing, which is evident by the number of layouts shared daily in the galleries. To make better use of our resources and provide the best online and print offerings we can, we are opting to discontinue the forum portion of Club CK as of June 15, 2013.

In this digital age, the internet is full of forums, many have existed for years and have fully developed communities and we hope that you will find one that meets your needs. Below are a few that we think would be a great place to start your search for an online forum:

Two Peas in a Bucket
Splitcoaststampers.com
Scrapbook.com
ScrapJazz
We are excited about the future and the media options we are planning for you, our readers. We look forward to seeing you around the Creating Keepsakes community.

Stacy Croninger

CK forums have been around a long time. I started with them 14 years ago. Interesting, huh? Thoughts?

I sure hope they are going to keep their commitment to CKU this year. I was looking forward to going.

They've cut the # of pages in their magazine. They added digital pages. They've had problems with the speed of their site. I don't have any clue about CKC. Good Luck!

The last issue was only 66 pages--I'm not hopeful. And I WON'T be renewing my subscription. (I know as soon as I do, they'll announce they're shutting the magazine down!)

I'm not renewing my subscription either. I got burned with Scrapbooks Etc. and got stuck with Better Homes and Gardens for almost a year, even though I told them that I wanted a refund. I'm not doing that again. I'll buy it one issue at a time if I really want it that badly.

This last episode I think is the first one in ages that I have put down without buying in years and years (once I found it - some magazines I don't find and would have bought). If I want online content I can get it for free. I will miss the forums though.

I had a 2 year renewal that ended in Jan of this year and was glad to let it go as it just wasn't good anymore. Seemed after Tracey Whites sudden departure and the Sale of CK Media things we NOT the same and it was a thinner magazine that cost more

So sad. I started with them when I first started scrapbooking.

Then they changed the board, then I actually went to "the veggie site" they talked about so often. Then I never went back.

Two Peas has always been so much more aesthetically appealing for me.

I wondered if something was going on. I needed to change my password and wasn't able to do so.

I have to say I will miss the reviews of the CKC classes -- but those have become less and less. I was able to meet up with some great people at a CKC as a result of posting on their forum.

Sadly, I feel this magazine has made little or no improvement in years. When my sub runs out I will not be renewing. I'm sure there are many hardworking people there. Scrapbooking magazines are falling by the wayside due to the internet. So much out there to teach and inspire.

Clearly things are not going well for CK. The writing is on the wall. Without the CK forum and their going mostly digital there will be much less publicity for them. I can't imagine very many people will go to their site just to post layouts and not have interaction with others. I don't think it is a smart move on their part, but that is their problem.

This is too bad. How about asking what can we do to help it continue? I keep seeing people complaining about the magazine & when it closes shop, everyone will say "that's too bad, another scrapbooking magazine closed" I wonder what it would take to keep it going?

I'm thinking that subscriptions are the thing that would keep them going. And to get subscribers to continue, they obviously have to improve the content. And to improve the content, they probably need money. Which they would get from advertisers. Who only buy magazines with big subscriber bases. Downward spiral.

Doesn't surprise me, and I predict the print magazine is the next to go. At the Birmingham CKC there was no booth set up for magazine sales. A Creating Keepsakes event with no Creating Keepsakes magazine sales booth?? Hmmm...

Also they need to listen to the customers, which as we all know, they do not. As long as they are not meeting the customers needs, the customers will not subscribe.

At least you are still getting the magazines! My newsagent told me he was expecting an issue in on the 18th of March and I have not seen a single one ANYWHERE! I'm assuming that Australia has just been cut from the supply, at least here in my state.

Sorry to see it go but I am not surprised. I just came back from CKC Manchester and there was hardly any activity on the boards in the days leading up to and following convention. This was a stark contrast to prior years.

I was just on the forum a couple of days ago, I like it over there and have met some really nice ladies from the convention over there. That's sad, as things go an on-line board can't be that expensive to run, some do it for free, so there's definitely something going on there. I'd be happy to subscribe if they put out the type of magazine that Lisa B. use to. I love all the scraproom and tool high lights. Give the customer what they want and they will happily come back. I wish them good luck.

Thank you for the Update (& the bump). I still love CK: it was my very first Scrappy Magazine! ETA: print may be dying, but there is absolutely no substitute (for me) for a real mag. I spend far too much time on the darn machine/s as it is- I pay visits to my "must see" sites, then I want to unplug.

BTW I read this just after checking in on that "other" customer-service related 5 page thread. What a contrast in approach!

Personally, I don't think they are listening. If they had read the comments at their forum, they would have noticed, understood and acted upon the fact that a LOT of people want only the full print magazine and are not the least bit interested in digital. I predict that a lot of people are not going to subscribe to a digital magazine and that will be CK's loss. I just might be one of them. I have no problem with them providing a digital issue for those who want it. I just think the paper one should be the same content as the digital issue. Who wants just a ridiculous sized pamphlet called CK, a mere portion of the digital magazine? And who wants to be forced to go digital or do without?

I can't imagine being without CK, yet I do not want to spend my computer time reading a magazine. I am not all that tech savvy and I am clueless how to save it in my external hard drive (I save all my issues), nor do I want to waste any of the external hard drive space. I have absolutely not the slightest interest in a digital magazine.

They mentioned that a lot of people aren't subscribing to it. I told them years ago that the reason I was cancelling my subscription and getting it on the news stand was because they refused to mail it in a protective wrapper and if I even received my issues when I did subscribe they were torn, wrinkled, dirty or all of the above. It was almost impossible to get them to replace issues when they didn't arrive so I would just go out and replace them at my own expense. I saw no reason to pay for a subscription, then have to go out and buy all the issues anyway at the news stand. Their customer service was horrible. If they had sent the magazine in a protective wrapper I would most certainly have subscribed and gladly! If I had not loved CK so much I would have let it go entirely, but instead I loyally purchased each issue. I've been it for the long haul, but when it comes down to settling for their digital magazine I just may end up parting ways.

I think CK is only hearing what THEY want to hear, just as they are only doing what THEY want to do, not what the readers want and need.

I have no problem with them having a digital issue. I think that the print issue should be the same content and quality as the digital issue. Other magazines provide both full options so there is no reason CK can't. They just won't is all.

Unfortunately this is the way things are moving. I imagine it won't be long before you can't get any publications in a print format.

So could someone tell me is the digital version better than the paper? I only have the paper version.

Anyone get both?
