I'm going in June (celebrating my 40th birthday -- gift to myself and doing some soul searching) and so excited! Has anyone gone?

Anything I should know before going?

All About Brave Girls' Camp

Update 6/23/13.

I'm home! It feels so weird to back home and plugged back in to the real world. I had an AMAZING time! We laughed, we cried, we did some soul-searching, we had every whim catered to, we went for walks, and we sang and danced...did I mention the food? OMG. I am sure I gained a ton of weight. And on top of all this...created art...ALL kinds. Not sure how to do something? Someone was always on hand to show you how. I learned a TON about myself...truly, if you have a chance to go or to take any of Melody's online classes, please do so. You really do deserve this gift to yourself. I finally realized, that it IS okay to put my needs first!

I also had the most amazing roommate. I am not sure how they pair us up, be we complimented each other perfectly!

Mini update 6/24/13. I only gained 1.4 pounds. LOL. Not as bad as I thought!

Update: 6/30 Pictures posted on the Brave Girls' site of our week. I sooooo want to go back! June 2013 Camp

I'd love to! I did the online versions going through my divorce. I'd live to go in person but the price started at $599 and now us what $1800 plus airfare etc.... ?
Someday I'd love to, but that darn budget!

I am intrigued and interested in hearing about your experience. Based on what I have read, It wouldn't take much to convince me to go tomorrow if that were an option. It certainly sounds like something I could use. I would probably want a private room though! Please let us know how it goes. It sounds amazing!

I have been twice I wish every woman I know, and all of you here could experience BGC....

You are going to have an Amazing time. Amazing!!! All I can tell you is to let yourself really BE there... It can be hard to unplug, hard to let yourself be taken care of and loved, even hard to feel some emotions that might come up from the lessons and projects. But jump 100% in!

You also might laugh more than usual and have more fun than you expect... And you are going to eat really really well

Feel free to pea mail me if you have any questions!!! And enjoy Brave River Ranch!

Hmmm. Weird, I had thought I posted another reply, I guess I didn't.

Anyone thinking of going, they do have a payment plan. That's what made it doable for me.

@rcarpen. I hear ya about the private room. I considered it. I'm an only child so sharing a room didn't happen to me until I got married. But I figured it will take me out of my comfort zone which is something I need to do.

@freckled pea Look for a pea-mail soon. I am really excited. I signed up for this late (maybe the end of February), but my OLW is brave...I figured with the personal things I am going through right now + a milestone birthday...well I needed to do something for me.

Enjoy it! It's been in my list for a few years now - my goal was my 40th as well but life got in the way and the price kept rising. I did the online versions and they were awesome.
Enjoy this tremendous gift! I have several friends who have gone- it was transforming for them. It will be amazing for you as well!
Can't wait to hear about it!

That's true about stepping outside the comfort zone. I'm usually okay with the roommate thing. However my 5 year old has been very needy this weekend, in a way like never before. I think that was fresh on my mind when I thought about the private room! You're right to take in the whole experience in the way that it was intended. I am so excited for you!

Kristan, I've also been twice. It's truly a life changing experience, which I know sounds trite but is completely true. You will LOVE it. You will be so happy you did this and you will never regret spending the money (heck, I did it TWICE).

There is nothing to be anxious about - you will be surrounded by love and support from the moment you step off the plane. I'm so excited for you! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to pm me at wanda@kuci.org.

I'll say a few little prayers for your safe travel and please say HI to Melody and Kathy!

Wanda

I had never heard of this before I opened this thread, but it sounds amazing! I also turned 40 this year and would have loved to do something like this to mark the occasion. So glad you went and had a good time!

I'm glad that you had such a wonderful time. Did you know anyone else who was going or did you just go by yourself? Was it odd to spend so much time with a group of women who you didn't know before the weekend?

I went by myself, and by some weird coincidence, there were 4 other ladies from my city!

I think it was actually easier to open up to a group of women that knew nothing about my story. We were all there for some reason..it was really therapy through art. I had been seeing a therapist, and I think I got more out of this...then my sessions with her. If you have taken the Soul Restoration class that is on the Brave Girls' site, Camp encompasses some of the lessons Melody teaches there.

Soul Restoration

I really do think this is amazing, and life changing...I want to go again!

Having been twice, I can tell you that you will get something different out of it each time you go. I think my second time, the group of women bonded in an amazing way that holds true (we are all still in touch).

The price is steep, but when you consider all you spend for other things (therapy, shopping to make yourself feel better, exercise equipment you never use but HAVE to have), I think it's worth it to set money aside and just do it. I can honestly say the lessons I learned there, I use every day!

Wanda, I totally agree with you. This was, wow. I am still trying to "come back to earth." It was surreal, and amazing, and beautiful. There were tears, but there were lots of smiles and laughter too!
