BOOKMARKS CHALLENGE submitted by Theresa

The object of this challenge is to use the layouts that you've been adding to your Bookmarks. You know that you liked them, but how often do you remember to use them as inspiration to make your own?

Since we're celebrating the birth of the USA here this month, the challenge this month is to take the latest layout you've bookmarked and make it about a birthday. You don't have to totally lift the layout from your Bookmarks, let any part of it inspire you; use it as a sketch or just the colors or the theme, let the layout decide! You'll be amazed what it will do on its own.

A very important part of this challenge is that you should send a message to the Pea that inspired you. It will brighten their day! Also, add a link to their LO in the information section or the comment section. Please be very specific about identifying that you lifted that Pea, we don't want to have any hurt feelings by not giving credit where credit is due.

DIGI CHALLENGE submitted by DEBI Pick one of the "special days" of July as your springboard for a page. Make it humorous, gets you more points. And remember, just because I dabble in digi, doesn't mean you have to. (Paper, hybrid or digi products all welcome)

SKETCH CHALLENGE submitted by TONI

Now don't be saying you don't have any ideas of what to scrap...LOL

Please post all your projects to CS challenges July even if you don't use the listed challenges...there are no scrapping police, only other scrappers to applaud your efforts.

Happy July all!

Great list Debi, would be a fun way to get through the "I'm bored" days of Summer by letting the kids figure out a way to celebrate the unusual.

Looks like rain today here. Need to get Aunt Joyce in to see the Nurse Practitioner that I go to so she can get over this sinus infection that won't go away. She can't get in to see her doctor for a week or more, crazy!

Sending prayers to Tina and her family for her grandfather's funeral.

oh, man, I hit the wrong button and lost my post...

Debi - that's a great list.
I wish I could get some mojo back.

I did walk today, so that's a good thing.

I'm on my way to get something done before we leave to meet the kids.

Have a super-de-duper day.

Chatty Scrappers...............the checkbox is up.

Debi, I had to laugh at some of the July holidays. Around here the 24th is almost as big as the 4th. It's Pioneer Day, the day the Saints came into the Salt Lake Valley. It's celebrated with parades and lots of fireworks! So I guess cousins' day on that same day is great because most people celebrate with extended families.

Toni, I'm sending you some mojo! But as slowly as my mojo is moving, you will probably get it by the end of the week! Have fun with your kids.

Theresa, hope Aunt Joyce can get some help and will soon feel better. What would they do without you? I wish you could send us some of your rain. It is so hot here that fire danger is extremely high. I hope our state fares better this year in that department. We had way too many last year.

Well, I'm off to run a few errands and we hope to see Monsters University today. Monsters, Inc. is DH's favorite movie, so he is even more anxious to see the new one. Sammie (DD's 6 year old) told me I'd
"love, love" it. We got to see all the displays about it when we visited Pixar with DSIL in April.

Have a great day, girls. (and extra hugs to Tina)

Back from the doctor, Joyce has a sinus infection. She got a shot, antibiotics and a nasal spray. Should have her feeling better by tomorrow.

Nylene, have fun at the movie. It looks like it's really funny. I'd also like to see the new one with Sandra Bullock that's out right now but I'm concerned about the possible language since the director is the same one that did Bridesmaids. Guess I'll wait for video. Will be going to see The Lone Ranger with Paula this weekend though. Can't wait for that one.

Going to go do a little scrapping (don't gasp). I have the perfect photo for that sketch.

Hi ladies,

Debi - Thanks so much for posting the thread for me this month. I was so rushed getting the slideshow and photo boards done for my Grandpa's funeral that it would have been really hard for me to fit that in too, I so appreciate you.

We had Grandpa's funeral today, it went well. My sweet hubby led the service and he did a really nice job. He did a good job of handling the issue with my Grandpa being a bit of a stinker throughout life. I've always said that he was Archie Bunker remade, so doing a eulogy that is too sugary sweet wouldn't suit him.

I did the video for the service, it turned out really nicely. I put it on FB if anyone wants to see it.

Mallory leaves for Nicaragua first thing tomorrow morning, so after that, I think I'll be able to settle back into some semblance of normal. I head back to work tomorrow, but it's a short week, so it will be nice to ease back into it a bit.

Nylene - Let us know what you thought of the movie, Grif is wanting to go see it, thought we might do it this coming weekend.

Well, I need to help Mal with her packing. Take care all and hope you are having a nice evening.

Tina

Debbi thanks for all those holidays, fun list.

Tina...Sending you hugs. It's funny about you saying your grandfather was like Archie Bunker, That's what I called Stan, for a long time. God most of come to him in his dreams because he is so much better. glad everything went well.

Nylene...Come to Florida!!! I was looking at the pictures from out meeting, would love to see you and the girls again. Have fun at the movies.

Theresa... Prayers for Aunt Joyce. It's been raining here everyday also. Thankfully it starts in the afternoon.

Waiving hi to everyone else.

Diana, you don't know how much I'd love to come to Florida again! It was so nice to meet you and your girls and mom. Maybe someday...(sigh).

Tina, my dad was the epitome of Archie Bunker too. He really mellowed in his older years and the great-grands only knew him as a kind man. That was not the case as I was growing up. We siblings were all scared of him.
It was nice to see the softening in him. I think much of it was when he began attending church and really trying to live a Christ-like life. It's amazing what that will do.

Theresa and Tina, the movie was great. It started a bit slowly, but picked up and had such a great story to it. I really want to own it when it comes out in DVD. It fits perfectly into the Monsters, Inc. movie. Some really good lessons in it. We stayed to the very end looking for DSIL's name in the credits, but found out he didn't work in this one at all. But by staying we saw the last cute joke. So........don't leave the theater til the bitter end. We were the only ones left who got to see it. Very cute.

Toni, thank you so much for the sketches this month. I have had a photo on my table for weeks and knew I wanted something above the large photo, but couldn't think of what to use. Then I saw those cute shaped banners on your sketch. Perfect!! Just what I needed. So I came home and scrapped a page! My scanner is having issues. It either scans too dark, like the last 2 I posted, or makes everything so bright, like this one. Can't seem to get it somewhere in between!

Birthday Girl

Be back later. I'm hoping to scrap a bit more tonight and tomorrow before I get ready for Cubs.

Hey girls,

I'm back...didn't get as much accomplished today as I had hoped...sigh.
It took forever at the Sprint store...my goodness it takes a long time to hook you up with another phone. Anyway, I even left after all the financial part was done and left Kevin and Meagan there so I could run a couple of errands. We wound up only getting Kevin a phone as his is broke, and he relies on his for work, etc. We'll get Meagan's on Friday/Saturday. It cost us a wee bit more than we were expecting, so we have to wait for Payday, LOL.

Anyway...

Tina - hugs. I think we all have a member or two like that in our families. Larry's father could definitely fall under the Archie Bunker category. I'm glad Ron did well, and that cannot be an easy thing to do. I hope life settles down a little for you.

Diana - I really, really miss the beach although I really can't lay there very long, I miss the "idea" of being able to go...does that make sense? I think it's because I had always lived near the beach, 'til we moved up here. So it had always been available to me.
Now, not so much... sigh.

Nylene - your page is adorable! Love those bright colors, and am so happy that the sketch worked for you. And, hey, if your mojo even comes at the end of the week, I will be thankful for it I want to scrap, but at the same time, I don't. Here is a link to the Turtle Soup blog in case the other one didn't work. I'm still finding my way around there, LOL. You can definitely get to the forum from there. http://www.turtlesoup.scrappingturtle.com/index

Anyway, I better at least get the dishes put away so I can say I did something other than laundry today

Take care all.

TINA you are welcome, it was no trouble at all and you definitely had more important things on you agenda to attend to than worrying about finding time to post the thread.Sounds like life is going to slow down a bit for you--that'll be good.

And NYLENE look at you, the first to post a page for JULY. Off to a great start.

THERESA glad you took Aunt Joyce in and got some meds to help get rid of that sinus infection. They can be so annoying. Hope she feels better soon.

Waving hi to TONI and hoping you find your mojo. Mine might be hiding with it.

Nice to see you dropping in DIANA. I've never been to Florida, but my kids have...they went a couple years ago with their dad to go to Disneyworld. They get to go to more fun places than I do, that's for sure.

No rain here...hit 92 today which is mighty hot for this neck of the woods which usually doesn't see sunshine for summer til after the 4th. Not this year, we've had tons of hot weather.

Have a great day

Happy Tuesday all.

Been lazy again today but I did make a card to send to my friend Jowanna. She is the one that I went over to do dressing changes for. She's on her way home from the surgeon's office today, got the final pathology report--no cancer! Whoo hoo!

You Cured Yet

Another friend (one of my scrappy friends) had her knee replaced yesterday in Nashville. So I'm making her a card too but I'm copying a design I've already scanned so I won't bore you with it.

I did scrap a page yesterday using one of the sketches but I can't post it yet. Not sure I like it so I may redo it.

Tina, sending you calming prayers so you won't worry too much about Mallory.

Nylene, thanks for the review. I'll still wait for video. It just costs so darn much to go to the theater.

Waving hi to everyone. Think I'll go outside and enjoy the pretty day, it's in the mid 70's now but more rain is coming this evening.

Tina, I hope things went well with getting Mallory off. I have been thinking about you both all day. I'm sure she'll have a trip of a lifetime. Hugs to the nervous mom!

Theresa, Steve and I go to the first shows of the day and since we are Seniors it's $3.50 or $4 for a ticket, depending on whether it's a new release. That's about the only advantage of getting OLD!!

I worked so hard this a.m. to get all the rocks ready for 12 boys to make rock collections and only 2 showed up. We had a fun time with just those 2, but I could have spend the morning scrapping. I know it's a holiday this week, but no one let me know they weren't coming. Aaargh! So next week we'll do the same thing and I told the 2 they could come help me or they could stay home. I think they'll come to be my assistants.

I'm going to clean up the Cub mess so we can tie quilts tomorrow. Maybe I'll get my scrap room picked up too.

Wow Nylene, I wish our theaters were that inexpensive. The matinee here is still $7.50 and night movies are $9.25. Last movie (matinee) we went to ended up costing $30 for the two of us for one popcorn, two sodas and two tickets. I can buy the movie now for $20 and rent it for $1. It's crazy. Terrible that the boys didn't call to tell you they weren't coming, that's just rude. Our Scouts only meet during the school year. Too many other things going on during the Summer. Although I did take my Girl Scouts on a trip a few times after school let out.

Well it's almost 1 a.m. and still awake, went to bed a little after 10 but couldn't sleep. Tossed and turned til almost 12 then just gave up and got up. Must have had too much tea to drink. Didn't drink any after 6:30 though so might not be it. My brain goes into overload when I lie down.

Well I am up too, THERESA, and it's nearly 1 a.m. here. Not tired but not motivated to scrap, so may read a bit or review a Japanese tape.

NYLENE we do not get quite the break you do as a senior (our senior prices for early showings are $8.75; regular matinee prices a dollar more, and non-matinee movies are now $11.75...with 3 of us, that's too costly for our budget. I did take the kids to the $1 morning movie for REGALS SUMMER movies (Tues and Wednesday) to see Parental Guidance (PG13) with Billy Crystal and Bette Midler...they grumbled at first as they are into all the sci-fi drama and suspense thrillers, but they actually enjoyed it and I caught them laughing along as we watched. Nice to do a family movie together.

We then came home and made Birthday cards for my mom, all three of us, which I took up to her in the evening while the boys visited with their dad. We had a good evening together.

Now the kids are asleep and I'm still up....hmmm.

Hi Sweet Peas!

Mallory got off to Nicaragua just fine this morning. She had a couple of moments when she was really nervous about it, but she calmed down and was fine when she left.

I'm hoping that she has an amazing experience. She has really grown into being someone who loves kids and doing service for them. I think your prayers are working, we've just really experienced a sense of calm about her trip. I'm going to miss her, but am good with her being there.

Thank you all for the kind words and prayers this week, I hope you all know how much you mean to me.

I signed up for the Gossamer Blue kit club this week, I'm hoping that it will motivate me to get myself scrapping. Having new supplies and pics usually gets me moving.

Hope you all have a nice day!

Hey Ladies! Sorry to have just dropped off the face of the earth like that but I had so much going on! You know the daughter that I told you about that dh had when he was 16 and never met well. I got up the nerve to contact her on Father's Day and she agreed to meet with me and the kids! DH is not a man of many words but he wrote on his facebook status that it was the best gift he'd ever received! One week later she came over to my house with her mom and we met and hit it off right away. There are so many similarities between her and the girls it's crazy. The very next day I was without a babysitter for a soccer game so she volunteered to come and watch the kids and then a few day later she graduated from HS so there was a family bbq at her grandparents house which we were invited to. She still hasn't met DH yet as she is not ready but I feel very close to her already!

Haven't been doing much scrapping....I do have many important events and pics to scrap from the last few weeks now though. I go back to work on Monday as my mat leave is up so I might get scarce again for awhile well I learn to balance everything!

Actually have been busy today. Went to Madisonville to four different stores looking to buy a new gas grill, had a cheaper one that I had seen at the local Wal-Mart so left empty handed and came back here and bought it. Came home and put it together. Randy was helping me put it together to begin with but my sister came over so he left it to us to finish, yeah he's nice like that. Then Michelle and I went over to a cousin's house (not a close cousin, Michelle had never met her before) and bought some gorgeous daylillies. I have never seen so many different varieties in one yard before. I really should have taken my camera. She's been growing them for 16 years she said and adds every year, ordering online to get different varieties. She lets them spread and then divides them and moves them around all over her farm. She sells them for only $3 a big bunch and ended up giving us several more after we bought some. Got pizza for supper and then had to figure out where to plant the flowers. I'm pooped!

Randy is off tomorrow but I think we're just staying home til time for fireworks. Well since my neighbors have been shooting them off all night we may not even go to see the big ones the county is doing who knows. Will be using my new grill, whoo hoo.

Tossa, it sounds like you have had an eventful couple of weeks. Congrats on meeting and enjoying your stepdaughter. I hope she will soon be ready to meet her father. Sounds like a mature young lady. Good luck to all of you.

Theresa, I'm glad you got a new grill. We bought DH a grill years ago, thinking he'd learn to BBQ, but cooking is NOT his bag and he has no patience for it. Even hamburgers were burned to a crisp because he does everything fast and on high heat! It has sat unused for about 25 years. I'd rather cook inside if I have to cook. Hope your barbecue turns out to be fun tomorrow. We have no plans but I hope to scrap.

I finished a page today that I scraplifted from my bookmarks. It's not a birthday page because I just did a b-day page, but it is from my bookmarks. I'll post it tomorrow or the next day.

Happy 4th of July to all the U.S. Chatty Scrappers. Hope everyone has a fun, safe and relaxing day.

Happy 4th of July to all my imaginary friends!

Theresa - bbq'ing or a 'braai' as we call it here is part of our culture and everyone has either a portable one or a built-in fireplace outside. Some, like us, have one inside too! We generally don't do burgers on the grill, more steaks, lamb chops or chicken. Also toasted cheese sarmies, even the veggies. Or a potjie, a stew made in a round cast-iron pot over the coals. I'm glad you got a good deal on the bbq.

Tina - Glad everything went well with the funeral and Malorey's departure. Strength to you. Hope the longing won't be too bad. Will she be able to phone you?

Nylene - well done on the scrapping! Frustrating to go to all that effort for the BS and then have almost no-one show up. On the bright side, now all the prep for next week is done, lol.

Tossa - Sounds as if a potentially very awkward situation is actually going very well. It is great that she is getting to know the kids without too much pressure and that you like both her and her mom. Good luck going back to work. It always takes a few weeks to settle in to the new routine again.

I inaugurated my new hob last night. Made a stew, but it was only Kyle and myself at home, so we didn't end up eating any. We had toast while it was cooking. Hey, at least supper is done for tonight They STILL need to put the doors on the cupboards, but the tops are in and I have water and an oven again. I've decided not to get stressed out. It will be finished when it's finished.

Better get back to work. Enough procrastinating.

Happy 4th of July to all!

Raining right now, looks like it might do it off and on all day. We had fireworks being shot off in the neighborhood last night til after 11:30 p.m. so needless to say I didn't get a lot of sleep last night either. Did manage to stay in the bed til 10 this morning, woke up a couple of times but went back to sleep. Looks like a stay in the house and watch movies kind of day! Awwww, freedom, I like it!

Happy 4th of July, girls.

Tina - Keeping Mal in my thoughts and prayers, and hoping she has a great trip.

Tossa - what a great story. I'm so glad that it is all working out for you, her, and your families.

Theresa - I slept in today, too, as I didn't get a lot of sleep the night before having a cup of coffee at 9 p.m. at work isn't a very good idea, LOL. We are having rain today, too. It's been raining a lot here lately.

Debi - I scrapped yesterday...I'll post it later, or tomorrow. Nothing fancy though...I'm trying to do some of these stash challenges, too, to use up some stash that I've been hoarding, LOL.

Hope you all have a fabulous day.

ok, I'm off to go get ready for work. Time and a half today
and I'm only there 'til 7...and if we're slow it will be 6:30 I'm sure.

too many nights staying up late--I slept in this morning (really slept in-woke at 9:30 a.m.), didn't even hear the boys get up. I must have been tired. Woke up mid-dream ( a really odd HungerGames type dream in a church whose building went on forever and unfamiliar to me so I was lost but still alive in the game; I was a older child yet had a conversation with a woman who was supposed to be my step-mom (my dad only married my mom IRL) who just had a baby and was going through the exhaustion, post-partum blues about going through that with the birth of my twins,) ... let's just say I was disoriented when I awoke. Wonder what brought that on.

Much cooler today...only 60 so far. Despite the holiday, perhaps I should go out and do some yardwork. . . and drag my Xbox addicted sons out with me. LOL

First I need breakfast.

It's been a lazy day at our home. We went to lunch in a neighboring town and then dropped in on DS and family....who were also having a lazy day! It seemed good not to be running from place to place getting ready for something!

Here's the layout I finished. It's a scraplift of Susan Stringfellow. I really enjoy her work and her great sketches.

Evening all. Rain left and we were able to christen the new grill for dinner after all. I went to the movies with Trish. We saw The Heat. It was funny but the language was HORRID. It was worse than I was afraid it would be. Sad when the movie people think that they have to put foul language in movies to make things funny. The stuff I laughed (and I did laugh out loud in several places) didn't involve foul language at all.

TGIF!

Debi- hope the long sleep did you good.

We have a sunny day here though they are predicting rain for tonight. Things are quiet at work for a change. This flu season is horrible. Seems that awful one you had in the US in winter has made its way here. Everybody is coughing for weeks on end.

A friend is coming to dinner tonight and bringing her new boyfriend with her. She's divorced but he is still married. I don't condone the relationship but she is so happy. I have told her she's looking for trouble (he's has affairs before; my DH knows him) but she is sure she is 'the one'. Ugh, I really hope she doesn't get her heart broken.

Please think of me. Help me keep my mouth shut and not come across as negative towards him. I'm feeling very protective of her and don't want to say anything that might compromise my friendship with her, or him, if things do go the way she hopes.

Wow, Michelle, not sure how I'd handle that situation either. Well, yes, I think I wouldn't let them come because there is no way I'd stay silent. Good luck to you!

Tonight is my monthly crop so I have to get stuff together today for that. Had told my friend Kay I'd come stay with her today if she needed me to (she had knee replaced Monday) but she didn't call. Now I hope she doesn't because I've had all week to gather stuff and haven't done it.

High in the 70's today with more rain possible tonight. I could get used to these temperatures.

MICHELLE that is a tricky situation. I'd be hard pressed to condone the relationship til he was divorced (I hope he's at least separated) and knowing his history of infidelity (maybe why he's having marital issues in the first place) I'd be concerned for my friend, but LOVE is blind. All you can do is be there to support her in whatever decision she makes and whatever consequences follow and hope for the best.

THERESA glad you got to BBQ. I sure miss having a BBQ when I could smell all the outdoor cooking last night. Hope you made something good.

Well I finally made it outside and worked FIVE hours. I dug and pulled out 4 ft high weeds(My son Owen helped -unwillingly, with that(had to put up with his complaints the whole time-LOL), whacked down 2 ft high grass, pulled out tons of holly starts, clipped low riding walnut tree branches, sawed off a bigger branch from the walnut tree (my son Noah helped with that),trimmed back ivy, cut out invading blackberry bushes...it's "literally" a jungle back there, and actually mowed the weeds referred to as my back lawn so we can actually walk out into the yard now. I was bushed, no pun intended, and I still have a ton left to do but it's an attack of one layer of stuff at a time.

I then showered, changed clothes, hobbled 2 miles to watch the fireworks display and walked back (wasn't hurting then, thankfully)...arriving home at 11:35 p.m. and happy to climb in bed.

the weather was upper 60's-lower 70's all day so good for working outside but a little chilly for me at night sitting in the park with 1000's of other people.

Got a good night's sleep, no strange dreams and now with just a little stiffness in my shoulders, I'm ready to start a new day. Wonder if I should attempt to fix my mom's faucet....hmmm.

Hope your 4th was a good one.

Had fun at my crop tonight. Taught Lila (my new scrapper) how to make an explosion box and taught a couple others how to do embossing with a heat gun. Even got a page done myself with the exception of the title (left what I wanted to use here). I'll get it scanned and uploaded sometime over the weekend. Still haven't scanned the one I did for the sketch challenge either.

Storming outside tonight so looks like God wants to do his own fireworks. He was kind enough to let me get home between the downpours and the lightning storm. Got all the stuff carried in just as it started to rain again.

Going to go try and get some sleep. Going to Owensboro tomorrow to meet my friend Paula. We're going to see The Lone Ranger.

So much for sleeping in today, awake at 7. Guess that's better than the 5:30 that I used to wake up at though. Just my luck I'll finally get better sleep times and I'll get a new job that has to get me up early again. Oh well, I have to get a new job sooner or later, preferably sooner. Randy still keeps buying the wrong lottery numbers.

Paula's Dad was sick so didn't go to the movies with her after all. Did go to Owensboro though. Took Austin and Michelle. They have Curious George stuff on the Kohl's Care and I had to have it! Came back and went to the first Saturday on the Square (free concerts) but it got rained out. Sad about that too because it was an awesome band (Eagles music) and we were really enjoying it. Anticipating a severe storm, already see lots of lightning in the distance.

Where is everyone else?

Hi- lindy here!
It's been quite a while. I've had surgery this week and all looks good. Biopsy is clear!
I was having tummy trouble after the last attempt at a biopsy, but this time I'm better.
I'm ready to move past all of the events that happened since Feb12th.

Still enjoying our darling grandson! He turned 3 on June 23rd! He lights up our life!

Glad to catch up and maybe soon get to a class at the LSS .

Hi LINDY.

THERESA I'm here but I've nothing of interest to share. Been quite unproductive, especially in scrapping, this month. Caught up doing other stuff or nothing at all.

Weather cooling down a bit, which is nice for most folks. Much easier to sleep at night when the temperature drops in the evening.

Sorry your concert got rained out. Dang it anyway.

Morning all!

Lindy- good to see you again. Sounds as if you have had lots of issues but things are settling down again. Glad the biopsy is clear. That must easy your mind a lot.

Debi - WOW! That is a huge amount of work. Glad you didn't pay for it later. I'm sure, with your weather, everything grows as if it is being paid, lol. My lawn is also in need of a trim, but now, even in winter, when things are normally lush, it's no more than 5" high. Two feet! Yikes!

Theresa - What was The Lone Ranger movie like? I hadn't heard they had one out. Worth seeing?

My dilemma Friday night wasn't a problem after all. The 'boyfriend' decided he wasn't ready to meet her friends so didn't come with. Just makes me more suspicious of his motivations... And, Debi, no, he isn't separated yet either

I got to move into some of the cupboards in my kitchen yesterday I had to wash every one out first, but, as I told Kyle, it is like a kid playing with a new toy. I really enjoyed it. They are aiming to finish by Wednesday, but I'm not holding my breath. They still need to fit some doors, tile and put the island together. It is amazing how big the space now looks.

Have a good Monday everyone.

Good Morning Peas,

Happy Monday! I thought I'd run by to catch up a bit before I head out to work. I had a nice, mellow weekend, which was happy. I spent most of Saturday organizing my scrap room and actually making some goodies. I've been running so much lately that my hubby decided to throw me a crop at home, so Olivia and I spent most of the day playing crafts together and dh even went to get Thai food and brought it home for my "crop". It was super sweet of him and I was actually able to feel a little creative, which was nice. I'll try to scan my projects tonight so that I can post them. Olivia was sewing all day, she made a couple of bags and ID holders with her sorority letters on them, they turned out super cute.

Lindy - It's nice to see you back with us! I hope that you are able to find time to do some scrapping.

Theresa - Your crop sounds fun! I wish that I had people to scrap with, but most of the people I know that used to do it have stopped. It's really nice of you to teach newbies to scrap and to make fun projects. One of these days, I need to learn to emboss.

I did play with my cameo this weekend, I listened to a tutorial on some of it and am learning to download stuff from the internet so that I can cut it out.

Anywho, well I need to run. I have to assemble the agenda for my first meeting of the day. Hope you all have a really nice day!

Tina

Happy Monday all.

Michele, hurray for a new kitchen. Can't wait to see photos. We didn't get to see The Lone Ranger after all so I can't tell you if it was good or not. Paula's Dad got sick so she cancelled. We're going to go Thursday or Friday. It's got Johnny Depp starring as Tonto and Paula and I love his warped humor. He's from Owensboro so we try and support his stuff.

Did finally watch Despicable Me (original) last night. Austin shared his DVD with us and Randy and I both enjoyed it. Even watched the extra info on the movie. It was a real heart warmer.

Tina, that was so sweet of your DH to give you a crop at home day. A lot of my local friends have stopped scrapping too. It's getting harder to find supplies in stores too so I think the phase is weaning down. Finding and teaching new people is the only hope of keeping it alive.

Lindy, happy for the good report.

Debi, if I waited to just post when I had something interesting, I'd never post, LOL!

Have to do some chores today and go check on Joyce. Hope you all have a good day.

hello girls -

Day off so checking in. spent yesterday doing some cleaning and scrapping. Finally it looks like the rain has cleared, even if it's
just for a day or so. it's been raining like crazy lately here.
Summer is more than half way over...ugh. Goes by way too fast.

Lindy - sorry to hear so much raining down on you. I'm glad the biopsy
came out good though. Hugs, girl.

Theresa/Tina - I don't think it's gone away as we still get a lot of people into J's...but I noticed that a lot of people are trying to use up their stash. And some people seem to be gravitating toward more complex artsy stuff...which is too much for me. Although some scrappers have gotten heavily into stenciling (and stenciling everything). I do think that people don't have as much money to spend on a lot of stuff though still. I don't have anyone here to scrap with either. I went to the LSS a couple of times, but it's really far away for me. And I always work Saturdays.

Michelle - Hugs...I hope your friend doesn't get too hurt by the situation, but sometimes they have to learn for themselves. You can only be there for her as her friend.

Tina - your DH is so super sweet. And how wonderful that you get to spend that time with Olivia.

Well, Kevin is moving back in for a while. Apparently his roommates got into a terrible fight (they're brother/sister). So she's moving home (she's pregnant), and she was moving out anyway at some point soon.
The BF is moving to her parents with her (that shocked me!) And the brother is moving in with the grandparents. Kevin's a little depressed about it, but I told him it will only be temporary, and he can save some more money and find either someone else to move in with, or wait 'til they get their S..t together again.
Luckily I had cleaned up his room, but I'll run the vacuum through it again and dust a smidgeon...maybe throw some of the crap that he hoards away LOL.

Anyway, I've wasted enough time today...need to get moving.

Toni, has your J's cut the size of the scrapbooking section down? The one in Evansville is less than 1/2 the size it was last year. Same with HL and M's. Less and less stuff is being stocked.

Got the yard mowed before it got too hot and even sat out on the patio for a bit. Jackson wanted me to read Life of Pi so I've started it. It is really good. He said it was better than the movie, which I didn't see. Still working on laundry and still have to go check on Joyce.

MICHELLE I can't wait to see your new kitchen--I'm sure you can't either, LOL. Please post a before and after shot when you can. How exciting. I have grand plans for mine, but alas, I doubt they will ever occur due to lack of finances. So I will use it as it is and be happy.

Interesting the "BF" didn't come. Why is your GF setting herself up for hurt by dating a married man? And how would she feel if she was the one married to him and he was off dating someone else? He's likely to repeat his bad ways, and we women, can be so pig-headed thinking "we will change them, because they love us". BTDT and well it wasn't pretty. Hope she comes around and finds a more suitable and available man to date, but glad you had time with her alone. Probably was much more comfortable for both of you.

THERESA how was the Lone Ranger Movie...(oops see you haven't been yet). I see it didn't get very good reviews, but I find my enjoyment of a movie often isn't tied to whether the reviewers liked it or not. Taking the boys to go see AFTER EARTH on Wednesday. I didn't realize Johnny Depp was from Owensboro--a little bit of celebrity with your city, how fun. I may be the odd man out, but I didn't care for the original Despicable Me...although the new one looks cute. How is Aunt Joyce? We haven't heard much about her lately. As for interesting, my life isn't, but some days when I barely make it off the couch in my room, there just isn't much to post about. LOL I wanted to see the movie Life of Pi and haven't, maybe I should read the book instead too.

TINA I wish I had IRL people to scrap with too...even if I do digi. Sometimes it's nice to have someone to pass the time with. Glad you and Olivia got time to craft and that your dh is so supportive. How nice for you.

TONI it will be nice for you to have KEVIN home but he may be antsy to get out to have his independence quickly. Too bad the roommate thing didn't work out, but it's hard to find people you can live with. Hope he can find someone else more compatiable and reliable soon. Meanwhile, enjoy his being around more.

alright girls, if I don't leave now I'll be going to my meeting with bed hair and in my nightie...hmmm probably not appropriate, but here in Seattle, you can get away with a lot. LOL...I'll check back later.

Here's my bookmarks challenge...it's a lift of Diana's page, and it's attached...it was my last entry love her page.
And I made it into a birthday page just for Theresa

Party Time

Theresa - I'm at one of the huge JoAnns, and our scrapping area is about 7 aisles...so it's pretty big. In fact, they're redoing a lot
of it as a lot has been on clearance. I can't wait to see what they get in.

ok, gotta go and finish getting dinner going...but heck, it's just me at the moment, so I've been enjoying myself, although I did shampoo Kevin's rug earlier, LOL. He'll be surprised.

See ya tomorrow.
I work a middle of the day shift tomorrow so that will be a nice change.

Hi, Chatty Scrappers.

We just came back from Idaho for DH's 50th year class reunion. Their class has lost 43 members and they released balloons for each of those. The first to die was in Vietnam. During the banquet they had a wonderful choir sing a song that included the songs representing each of the armed services. The class members were to stand as they played the song representing which military branch they served. I was amazed. Very few of the men had not served in some branch of the military. Of course Vietnam was going strong as they graduated. Add that to all the more recent conflicts and it's understandable. It was very inspiring to see those men stand.

We had such a great time, visiting with old friends. Many of his classmates married kids in my class so we got to see a few more. I was just one year behind him so I knew all those students too.

Today we started the girls hand stitching on their quilts. On Wed. we will get the lace sewn on the edge of the other 2 quilts and teach them the hand stitching. Between that time I have to set my kitchen table up with rocks for Cub Scout rock collections. My poor table serves us well every week!

Toni, sorry about Kevin's friends finking out on him. Hope he finds something soon so he can feel independent.

Tina, what have you heard from Mal? I'm sure you are enjoying Olivia this summer. I loved having kids home from college.

Theresa, I would like to read the Life of Pi too. I didn't see the movie. I think I'll put that on my reading list. Say hi to Aunt Joyce.

Michelle, such fun filling those new cupboards. Can't wait til you are all finished and settled. Won't that feel good.

Debi, your 5 hours of work makes me tired. I'm glad you are getting some things done, but don't overdo or you'll pay for it. Haven't seen any pages from you lately. We need to boost your scrapping mojo.

I need to go do some cleaning. I left my house in a bit of a mess when we went to Idaho. Serves me right for not cleaning it up before I left.
Have a nice week, everyone.

Evening. Didn't go to Joyce's after all, I haven't felt good for the last two days so I ended up calling her and taking a nap myself. She is over the sinus infection but hasn't felt good for two days, just tired and not feeling good overall. Thinking it may be the weather that has us both down. Randy's Dad's wife got a new printer so we had to go over there this evening and hook it up, then show her how to use it. Home now watching TV. I will go to see Joyce tomorrow, need to clean her and Charlie's ears out with Debrox and don't want to wait any longer before neither one can hear anything.

Toni, the J's I go to in Evansville, Indiana is a Super J's and it used to have a huge section, one whole corner, four aisles one way and about 7 on the other, now it has maybe 5 total.

Clarification on Johnny Depp, he is from Owensboro. I don't live there, used to work there and go there all the time to shop, just an hour away. Paula was born and raised there. Still I count him as a local.

Nylene, glad you had such a good time at the reunion and I don't guess I have to remind you to take photos of the girls sewing.

Okay, brain isn't focusing enough to do this and watch TV and I'm annoying Randy by asking questions when I miss something so better log off before King and Maxwell starts.

Good morning!

Theresa- The Life of Pi is such a great book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The movie is good too, but I think it is more 'arty'. Beautifully done, but a bit of the story gets lost. My kids also want to go see Despicable Me 2. I saw the trailer in the bank yesterday and it does look cute. I just love the Minions. Let us know about the Lone Ranger when you get there.

My kitchen is finally getting there. They should be finishing the tiling today, then it is just a few finishes that need doing. Oh, and Heinrich needs to do a 'snag list', listing all the little things he isn't happy with That could mean another day of work if I know him. He can be very detail-orientated sometimes.

Tina - Keep that man! Treat him well! He is such a darling.

Nylene - The 50th reunion sounds amazing. It is great that so many were there to share it.

Happy National Sugar Cookie Day! (Thanks, Debi) My boys want to bake cookies tonight, so we will be celebrating here I'll take pics for sure. Just worried about the new oven. It is SO much hotter and faster than my old one. I'm going to burn something, I'm sure.

Going to be a hot one here today, only in the 90's but they are calling for heat index over 100. Going to my cousin that has the Daylillies to pick up a couple of really gorgeous almost black ones that she has had bloom--like I need any more plants, LOL. Getting one for me and one for my sister for $5 each. We looked at daylillies at the store the other day and it would be about $30+ for the plant size she sells. Worth the drive to Belton (still here in the county but out in the country). Anyway, showered and almost ready to leave. That will get me out of the house, to her house, back home, to my sister's, the store and then hopefully to Joyce's before lunch.

Afternoon may just be reserved for a nap but then again, the little air conditioner in the bedroom backed up with water yesterday so it has to be cleaned before it can be used, not to mention getting the water the rest of the way off the carpet. I've already went out and unplugged the hole to let it drain and have a towel hopefully sucking up the water in the carpet. Also still haven't put my scrap stuff back away from the crop and have a couple of layouts to scan so who knows, may just do that.

Anyhoo, hope you have a great day.

Hi ladies, I have been busy at work and getting the room ready for Daniel since I store all the misc. crap in there. Now I'm finally emptying it out and painting it. I feel bad for him in a way Stan is going to be all over him. But he needs it, he has zero motivation don't know what happened to him but he needs to get back into college and get good grades so he can get his scholarship back and get a job. Although I think the job part is looking good at the hospital, we will see.

I went to Naples this weekend with the girls and saw my cousin Maria, she had breast cancer a few years ago and she is doing so well. She also mentioned again all the cards some of you sent her, she still keeps them.

Theresa...It's been so hot here and humid now with this tropical storm around the corner it has rain all day and it will rain all day for the next 5 days fun. Glad you got your BBQ we use our all the time. The Daylillies are beautiful glad you were able to get them that's a great price also.

Michelle...That's a tricky situation, my friend put me in the predicament once and it was horrible. I agree with Debbie that you need to be there for here and try to guide her as best you can. Glad your kitchen is almost done, need to take pictures once its all done.

Nylene...50th class reunion sounds like it was a beautiful evening. the 43 balloons is such a beautiful idea. I wish you lived close I always wanted to learn how to quilt. Can't wait to see you scrapping those photos.

Tina...What have you heard from Malory. Crop day sounds like fund but that Thai food sounds even better.

Toni...Our kid never leave for good. They always come back..LOL!!! That's terrible what the room mate did, I'm sure his bummed. Hope he can find himself something soon, if he wants to be on his own.

k have to go and do some cabinet cleaning, they are filthy. I have the girls "spring" clean a little each day just to make sure they don't get too bored .

Did some scrapping, but I will post them later.

Have a great day

Evening, Aunt Joyce is doing better, not well but better. She even went to Wal-Mart today. I felt better today too so still thinking it's something in the air. Ended up having to go back to Randy's Dad's place to reshow Jan how to use the printer. This time I typed up clear instructions on how to save, copy and paste and print. Hoping that will do the trick.

Grilled me some salmon and Randy some chicken and potatoes for dinner. I found a potato roaster for the grill at W-M. You pierce the potato on the metal tray and it "bakes" on the grill. No instructions on how long to cook them and I ended up not cooking them long enough but they were good and the house didn't get heated up at all. I put some oil and kosher salt on them, mighty tasty. Highly recommend trying it.

Have my other unemployment call in the morning so if you could add a few prayers for me at 9:15 central time, I'd appreciate it.

Diana, bummer about Daniel. My niece threw her scholarship away for a boy! Stupid, stupid, stupid, but what can you do. She still hasn't went back to school, hope Daniel does.

Praised to here. Of course since there have only been a few layouts posted it didn't take long! I sure miss all the praise I used to get on my layouts when we had a lot of peas on here. Now I still get a lot of views but rarely get any comments, makes me sad. I'm such a praise junkie!
