Ugh! Scrapbook companies: WHAT is so dag-gone difficult about making page protectors that ACTUALLY have 3x4 and 4x6 pockets?!? I mean, can't you have someone test the prototype with...I don't know...ACTUAL PL cards? Yesterday, I used a new page protector and had to trim down EVERY. SINGLE.CARD. This takes away SIGNIFICANTLY from the ease of doing Project Life. I don't spend my heard-earned money for these cards so I can trim them and then re-round the corners!

On a more positive note, I was working with my Citrus Twist kit and the pages just come together SO easily when using those kits! I love them!

Anyone else wanna rant & rave with me?

I love, love, love Citrus Twist's PL kits! Their customer service is top notch, too.

I've finally gotten in a groove and am "sort of" keeping up with PL by paging up the photos and memorabilia and then going back at a later time to do the embellishing. My rant is why cant they make page protectors that securely hold the photos??? I do a fair amount of flipping pages to get the pictures and goodies in the right weeks and I have stuff sliding out of page protectors all the time. ARRRGGHHH!

Ah, that felt good to say out loud to someone other than my kids who look at me like I'm nuts for ranting at a photo album.

And Wendi, I'm with you - I LOVE Citrus Twist kits!

In regards to the pocket sizes. There is no way to make perfect 4x6 and 3x4 pockets with out there being extra on the sides to accommodate the seam to make the 3x4 pockets. This means the pages would be even larger than they already are and the pockets wouldn't quite align. Either the 4x6 pockets need to be bigger to accommodate the extra space needed for the seam between the two 3x4 pockets or the 3x4 pockets need to be smaller to align with the 4x6 pockets. I know BH chose to make the 3x4 pockets slightly smaller. Not sure on the other brands.

I think you need to also keep in mind that "Project Life" is a specific line of products created by Becky Higgins. There are a BUNCH of other pocket pages, some of which are now including "3x4 size" pockets in their pages .... that are NOT "Project Life" products and that may or may not fit "Project Life" cards.

I would rather they just make the pages a little bigger to accomodate the TRUE 3x4 and 4x6 sizes.
And I also realize that 'Project Life' is it's own brand, but I feel like these are standard sizes in the whole 'pocket page movement'. There doesn't even seem to be continuity within one page from one company! Sometimes there is a 'true' 3x4 pocket right next to a 'wonky', slightly smaller 3x4 pocket! It's driving me nuts!

Yeah...ITA on that point, too! I got some pages with three 4x6's and one 6x12 and the opening for the 6x12 is on the side!! It slides out every time I flip the page! Why in the world isn't the opening on the top??

I use the BH page protectors and I use a varity of PL cards, BH, sc, a ton of other brands and every so often ill get a card that doesn't fit right but ever since I started using the BH plastics I feel like they are sized way better then WRMK, echo park and a few other brands I have tried.. Or maybe its just the cards are being made now a bit smaller to fit into the pockets! I know BH cards are supposed to be made a bit smaller as well as the sc monthly kit cards and others! It's always something or the other

I also have the same problem with the items slipping out of the pockets, honestly I'm not sure the company's can do anything about that because its the smooth plastic that causes this to happen along with the heaviness of the cards.. What I do is add a tiny glue dot to each card at the top of my pages works great and you can't even see the dot, you could also staple it. Stitch it, use removable tape, paper clips, etc.

I almost always have to trim down my photos but both my core kit(s) and SC kit have fit without a problem. I will say that I excitedly purchase the Sn@p page protectors (2 4x6) and they weren't 4x6, they were 4x6.5 ... so annoying!

Exactly... I like that the 4x6 are the actual size so that 4x6 photos will always fit as they are, so I don't mind having to trim for the smaller pockets... If the 4x6 were bigger (so the 3x4s were true size), then I think 4x6 photos would look sloppy or be loose and fall out easier...

I'm only weeks into my PL style album (PL but without a set timeline, just as stuff happens), and I'm loving how much I'm getting done... Really like that it's more documentary done creatively rather than something creative that I'd try to force some journaling into (how my LOs felt to me)... My collecting, *cough* hoarding, side also like that there's so many pockets just waiting to hold little things

Melissa Stinson/scrappyjedi has done pocket page comparisons based on the 3x4 issue. You can check her blog post here . At the bottom, it has a link to other posts with comparisons of other brands.
