I am new to scarping and don't have many supplies yet, I watch videos online. but when I go in to stores I can't find the products used. Where are some stores you would recommend going for cute patterned paper and stamps.

If you don't have a local scrapbook store, do you have a Michael's or Hobby Lobby or JoAnns? I do most of my paper shopping online. If you look in the gallery on this website and like the layout, a lot of people post the products they used for it and you can buy them here.
|Posted: 7/7/2013 2:11:49 PM|Thanks, I've tried Joannes and got some from them. My Joannes didn't have a huge selection of papers. I'll have to see if I have a Hobby Lobby near me. Thanks
I'm just a pea:)

You can find a lot of stuff not found in big box stores here
Pea-ceful and Hap-pea
|Posted: 7/7/2013 2:26:42 PM|TJ Maxx, Marshall's and Ross have some great stuff as well. It's hit or miss, but you can get some good supplies there.
Or you could come and shop in my basement

Right here @ twopeas! Has the BEST and BIGGEST selection of sb supplies you can find! I buy everything from here. I don't have a LSS near me only a Michael's and they are getting better at getting newer things in but twopeas is still the best, they also offer free shipping with a $50 purchase and everything you see in the shop is pretty much true to what you get in person. I know sometimes its better to wanna look at the products in hand first but unfortunately with this hobby we don't always have that option (which completely sucks) unless you have an archivers near you because they seem to be the only "big box" store that carries the same stuff that twopeas does!

I was having the same problem. I would watch the videos here and on youtube. I wanted to use the product that I saw on the videos. I went to the big box stores, but they didn't have the product I was looking for,I couldn't find things that I thought were similar.
I started shopping online to find the products that I wanted. My lss did not carry the brands I wanted( I wished that they did, because I like to actually see the product irl).
Once I had the products in my hot little hands, I was then able to add products from my local stores.
I would place an order for the products that you like from the videos that you watch. Not all the products, maybe just papers and an embellishment pack or two( maybe labels, I can't find them anywhere around me, I have to order those online). Play with your purchases, and then when you go back to your local stores, you will have a feel of what you are looking for.

If you have a limited budget you can pick up some paper pads at winners and home sense too
|Posted: 7/7/2013 4:58:24 PM|I would recommend Two Peas. Great products, quick shipping, good customer service. Not to mention that if you are watching videos here most of the product in the videos is available right here.

Do you have Tuesday Morning in your area. That's also a hit or miss but worth it to check it out.

|Posted: 7/9/2013 4:43:51 PM|ok this doesn't really answer your question about what to look for but I had to just give my 2 cents about on-line/small business shopping vs. big store shopping. I have become a bit passionate about supporting on-line/small business stores...
i live 2 hours away from any major "craft store" ie Michaels/Hobby Lobby. We used to have a LSS, but no longer The big stores are just boring. They don't have any of the items you will see in the CHA summer sneak peaks or on websites/blogs, everything feels "touched", i.e. bent corners, open packets and "last season" (More like 2 years ago season.
I have come to love 2 peas and other on-line stores for the following:
1. i can shop 24/7 (my wishlist is always on-going) I may not get to physically touch the item, but neither does the 100 other people. (And 95% of the time the colors/pictures are spot on. You get what you see.)
2. They have customer loyalty programs, i.e. (discounts/specials on items I truly WANT and will use.)
3. THE FREE CLASSES and INEXPENSIVE WORKSHOPS!!! I LOVE that you can get video inspiration/instruction 24/7, showing me what to do with all these lovely supplies! (Michael's does not offer this (maybe on the 3rd Sat of every 3rd month...ha ha)
4. I LOVE getting a package in the mail (the anticipation of waiting, tracking it on line and then the arrival! It's like Christmas Morning) (And sometimes you even get a little "happy" (extra) in your package)
5. And look when you are least expecting it: A Store wide sale!!! (p.S. I used to be hung up on shipping costs, but most brick and mortar stores must increase their inventory prices to accommodate their shipping costs.
( HAving said all this...I truly wish we had a local scrapbooking store (a BOUTIQUE with helpful smiling crafty people, if you will) but unfortunately there are just not enough of us scrappers where I live to support one.) So THANK YOU TWO PEAS for offering everything I am looking for in a boutique LSS on line!!!!

If you don't have a local scrapbook store I would shop online. There's a big selection at your finger tips. I personally don't like shopping for patterned paper at Michael's or Joann's. You won't be able to find a good assortment of manufacturers as you will online or at a scrapbook store.
