I want to get a group of my friends to help me make some cards to send, but have a question.

Is the need still there? What do the experienced peas say.

I am very excited about doing this for our troops and have visited the website too. So i feel I would be ok in doing this,,,thanks for anyfeed back..Linda

Yes they still have a need for cards. Just be sure to follow all the guidelines about the cards like no glitter and having the stamp on the back. There are lots of great videos on YouTube which help a lot. I'm working on some right now to donate.

Definitely OWH is on the grow! We've just hot our 2,000,00th card!

Please make some
Cards and send them!

Absolutely no glitter -it is the biggest no no! Glitter that flakes off on uniforms can make our heroes visible to night vision goggles! Don't want THAT to happen!

Yes! For details on where to ship and other dos and don't check their website. They can always use basic themed cards (thinking of you, miss you) and AnyHero cards (cards you make for and write to a hero). They are also on Facebook.

I made 300 cards when my DD was deployed to Afghanistan a couple years ago. I never sent stamps. They were able to mail them without stamps. I thought that was really great!

Operation Write Home is still going strong. There is still a need! Don't forget to send envelopes with your cards. They have tons of videos, resources, tutorials and such available to access.

Also, you'll need to stamp or write Operation Write Home on the back of your cards. I used my involvement with creating cards for OWH as an excuse to buy stamp sets that supported OWH.

All the companies that make the stamp sets are either wood mount or cling (deeply etched rubber on both) or photopolymer, so they aren't those cheap dollar bin clear/rubber stamps that are a hassle to use. You can request a free rubber stamp from OWH that has no cling on it or if you make a purchase from Stampers Best if you mention it in the notes, they'll include it for free (so OWH doesn't have to pay for shipping the stamp to you). There are also some self-inking stamps you can buy (no proceeds donated, but for some it is a hassle, especially for non-stampers) or you can print off labels. Be sure to check out their guidelines. They totally rock!

Check out my blog featuring my papercrafting journey.

The stamp being referred to is not a postage stamp but a stamp that says OWH . You can also print a label instead. OWH has a pdf for the labels

This is such an amazing idea! I've never heard of it. I've heard of adopt a soldier. There's been times where my hubby has been deployed and his buddies haven't gotten packages or mail.
