Hey Peas!

I have a bunch of cool Instagram piccies I want to print via Persnickety Prints and I was wondering which sizes and papers you recommend. I did some research and have been seeing different things. Is the Pearl paper worth it? I used to use Ilford Pearl paper when I printed at home, and loved that. I NEVER print photos on glossy, so I know I wouldn't choose that option, but how is the matte paper or the art paper versus the pearl?

Should I print 3x3 or 4x4? I will probably add in the odd 4x3 Polaroid just to try them out, but again what paper do you like best? Anyone have any finished LOs with these 3x3 or 4x4 pics on them? Do you ever use the full bleed option on the photo paper how are those?

Any additional advice or ideas appreciated as well!

I recommend not printing with Persnickety. Its not user friendly to decide sizes. I'm not sure it tells you if images are going to be blurry like other websites, but it should.

Ive printed 3X3 instagram on other websites and the quality is fine.

I know some people don't seem to like Persnickety, however:

-I am in Australia and they ship here for a flat fee which is great
-a lot of people do seem to like them
-I have actually started filling a cart and didn't find their site to be so bad

Do you have other sites in mind that DO ship to Australia? I can't even find a decent REGULAR photo printer here...sigh

It depends on your needs, really. I like the 4x4 metallic glossy for most of my Instagram's because I think the filters pop more, but if you don't use filters much or don't care, 4x4 matte or 3x3 look nice too. I've tried the Polaroid for 3x3 to make it 4x3 and I think those are really fun, but not an "all the time" thing. I've been very happy with all my Persnickety orders, other than wishing they'd have free shipping sales occasionally. But the print quality has been great.

ETA I'm not a huge fan of the matte, pearl 4x4 or 5x5 prints, but again, you could try it out to compare!

Also, you probably don't want to go any smaller than 3x3, since then you'll just have more of a white border around the picture.

imPEAria, I've never tried the Pearl option (and I hate glossy too), but I have had the 3x4 Polaroid print and 3x3 prints from Persnickety. (I always get the white border on the 3x3's cause that's just my preference) Since you asked, here's some layouts I've done recently that use them

Sunday Brunch - uses 3x3 prints
Photobooth Fun - uses 3x3 prints
Seine Side in Paris - uses 3x4 Polaroid print

Hope that helps ya! I get irked with their website sometimes, but I've had great quality prints so far, and super fast shipping. Definitely a fan!

Okay, wait, I'm such a dingbat. The white border is the ONLY option for 3x3, so I guess it's not just a preference

Thanks, listgirls review was the only one I found comparing paper types when I did research. I just wondered if there were any others for a different perspective. Thanks!

I absolutely LOVE the pearl paper at Persnickety. I think it is worth the extra $. It's my favorite for square phone prints.

The paper is different from the Ilford pearl paper which I use to print at home too. It is more like a heavy cardstock with a very subtle shimmer/sheen to it than the weight of traditional photo paper. It's really beautiful in person.

I have two layouts that use the 3x3 square matte pearl cardstock photos in my gallery.

I did round the corners of the photos at home just to balance out all the straight lines on my pages.

Lisa L,

such cute LOs thank you so much for sharing them with us. You remind me of Margot Thomas of That Girl! fame...

I bit the bullet and ordered a selection of: 3x3, Persnickety Polaroids, and 4x4 all on matte. I also ordered some of my better instagrams on 4x4 Pearl (to see if it was worth the price) and a few random photos to be printed as regular photographic prints. The FREEDOM4 code worked for me even though I had a mix of prints in my bag and even though it was for an International order which I think is fabulous! When I order prints in Australia and ave them shipped to me it costs at least $8-15 to have them shipped anyway, and the quality is so so...I am hoping when my order comes I will be in . I will update when they arrive for anyone interested. Thanks everyone who helped me decide.

ETA: They did let me know if I had added low resolution photos to my cart, and suggested they be printed at smaller sizes (or not at all). It also warned me if my photos needed cropping and gave me 3 options to do that including manually cropping them! (I like that)!

Oh Caspad, sorry i didn't see your LOs when I posted last time (I wonder why) they are beautiful! I especially like the second one. Thank you for sharing them with us.

I also just thought i would post that less than 9 hours after placing my Persnickety order I was sent an email saying my prints were on their way to me! WOW...that is amazingly quick. If the print quality is there I will have found my new photo lab.

I love their 3x3 prints! I haven't tried the 4x4s but have gotten a couple of 2x2s and their printed on the same size cardstock as the 3x3s, so have a really wide border which looks pretty cool.

ETA: a ton of my more recent layouts in the gallery use their 3x3s. I'm on the IPhone app so can't easily link up.
