This may be a silly question but which brand makes the beat craft mat. I went to M's yesterday and am very shocked at how expensive big mats are (quilting and ms ones)

I have a giant yellow on one side green on the other from Walmart or Joann's (can't remember. It's okay but I got some hot glue on it and it destroyed it. I actually wish I still had my CTMH paper one.

I like the giant Fiskars mats
I bought one with a pretty light blue on one side with lavender on the other side

Since blue is my favorite color, that mat is my preferred one.

Plus, Fiskars has fabulous CS and I know that if anything happens to my mat they will take care of the problem

They have several colors to choose from usually.
I think right now there's one with a really pretty light green in one side and a light yellow on the other side.
They also have their dark green ones all the time and I think a bright blue

Joanne's has them and you can use coupon

I have a big Fiskars (24x36) one I found at Walmart in the sewing section. It was the best price of all the stores in my area, I think it was marked $24, cannot remember now.

I just got a $6 oven liner to lay over my work space. I have a 12" creative memories cutting mat that I've had for at least a decade that I pull out when I need to cut. I haven't (yet) kept a large cutting one on my desk all the time but there's one on amazon that's inexpensive and well rated I have on my wish list. It's 16.99 by Alvin, 18x24 inches.

I have the lime green/yellow mat from Fiskars. It's 24 x 36 and its a great size for me. I do hot glue on it, but my glue gun is a low temp one. I also have a 9 x 12 mat that I use for eyelet setting, HOT gluing, etc.

I like that I can cut on the mat and any spills wipe up. It really protects the table top.

I know JoAnn's has a 50% off coupon out--I think it expires today. I'm not sure about the boy store.

I have the extra large fiskars one that I got in the quilting section at joannes several years ago It covers almost my whole desk. When I say years we are talking like 10 or so.

I use stacks of newsprint/packing paper like they use at Hobby Lobby to wrap your fragile items in. I keep a stack on my art desk. When the piece gets yucky, I wad it up, throw it away, and use a new sheet underneath.

I have the large Fiskars too. I bought mine in the sewing section at Walmart. I've had it a while and it has really held up well. I have the black MM mat, but I like the large size of the Fiskars better.

I had a white/clear one from Joanns that was SERIOUSLY HUGE and was expensive. I think it was made for sewing and pattern cutting. It was rolled when I bought it and I could never get it to lay perfectly flat no matter what I tried... but what's worse is the horrific chemical plastic smell that stunk up the entire room. I finally threw it out. It smelled like cancer waiting to happen

The M store near me still stocks the large Martha Stewart mats... Think they're 24x36 or maybe 48, but they're still around...

I have a 13x13 Martha Stewart one and I like it... I couldn't find a black MM one anywhere near me so I gave that one a try... I like it and it's held up well, I don't work on it unless I'm doing cutting though... I have glass on my desk and that's what I use for messy/painty/splatter-y type stuff...

I have a huge Olfa (?) one for sewing and it's got a bit of a texture to it and is a bit softer... It's an old, old one though so not sure if they're still like that...
