I am still in Canada working our summer business but I keep dreaming of heading south in December for 4 months in Port Charlotte Florida....

Any Florida Peas out there from SW Florida? Or elsewhere with info on crops and meets? Good stores to visit?

Want to just say hello?

I love the smell of card stock in the morning.....

The Movie poster that is my avatar is very special cause my husband is in it and it won best film at the Canadian Film Festival in 2012. See it......It's super funny.

Hi from Miami!!!

We don't have any stores in Miami. There are a couple of good stores in the Orlando area. A lot of them have closed down. There are a few crops/retreats throughout the state.

Hello from Orlando area!

Here's some crop info.... http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Sunshine_Scrappers_FL/info

See our photos page of our group. I just posted our crop dates for the rest of the year as well as dates though June 2014. See October 2013 and April 2014 2 day crop's. The 2 day crops are $20 and include Saturday dinner (22 hours).

Our monthly regular crops are $6 for 12 hours.

See our website above for details on how our crops works, where, when, etc. Our free yahoo website has changed their format and we are getting used to it. So bare with us.

Waving from the Sunshine State!

SE Florida here, near West Palm Beach.

Like the rest of Florida, it's been unbearably hot and humid. We've been very lucky regarding storms.

I'm ready for our winter!

@FLCindy I am familiar with that store, but it is a little far for me. The closest one to Miami is Paper Niche, in Davie. They have Friday, Saturday, and 3 day crops.

Sunshine Scrappers Crops

Scrapbooking has been described as the "quilting bee" of the 21st Century. "The gathering of friends to achieve a common goal."

~Is membership limited? NO, all are welcome!

~Where do the Sunshine Scrappers crop/meet?

St. Alban's Cathedral
3348 State Road 426 (Aloma Ave.)
Oviedo, FL  32765

**We are NOT church related.
**We rent the facility and sign a yearly contract (August-July).

~What are the hours of the crops? 10:00am-10:00pm-unless otherwise noted Come anytime...

~When do you crop/meet? We meet the second Saturday of every month. So you always know the date of the next monthly crop. The second Saturday of the month avoids all the major holidays...Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc. *NOTE: the church has the right to reschedule our crops.

~Do you pay a fee? YES, $6.00 for ONLY the crops you attend. The small blue check-in table is located by the door when you enter the crop room (Kimsey Hall). Please write your name in the notebook as paid and place the money in the moneybag. *This is a honor system.

~Where does my money go? The money pays for the use of the church Kimsey Hall (our non-profit rental $75.00 a month *normal rental fee is $350.00). We also purchase disposable supplies to run the crops. This would include paper plates, paper towels, dish and hand soap, napkins, plastic ware, tablecloths, prizes, etc. (just to name a few). Your money goes to St. Alban’s or directly back to YOU.

~What are the RULES? We have two rules...
1) No consultants, Website Owners and LSS Owners can sell at crops or on our website. You are more than welcome to share your catalogs, business cards, and ideas but exchanging of money is not permitted. All Consultants, Website Owners & LSS Owners are welcome. **If you ONLY want to promote your business at a SS crop or on our website you have found the wrong group. Please respect our members.
**2) Please, NO children under 16 yrs. (if you have teenagers who would like to attend-use your own judgment-we have adult (G-rated) conversations) Most of us look forward to this “time away”.

~How do I sign up if I'm attending a crop? We have a section (DATABASE) on the left of the screen. We delete after each crop to sign up again for the next month. Knowing who's coming helps us in setting up the tables and how much space we need. **We DO NOT reserve seats for you. It’s FIRST come, FIRST “seated”. We suggest if you have 2 or more friends coming and would like to sit together to get to the crop as soon as it opens.

~What do I bring to the crops?
Dining/POTLUCK-please bring your food right into the kitchen after noon-12:00p. (The church Flower Lady is working on the arrangements until 12p). Pam H. is our dinner coordinator. She will pick a DINNER theme. So when you sign up under DATABASE to attend the crop please also add a food item to go with the meal theme. See Pam H.‘s “comments” under DATABASE CROP SIGN UP for theme food details. This helps keep the dinners “fresh and fun”. **If you have anything perishable please bring a cooler with ice until we can access the refrigerator.
Please, provide your favorite beverage *NON alcoholic* for the day along with a covered cup/mug. We DO NOT provide lunch OR DRINKS (no cups or mugs either)-ONLY pot luck DINNER.
**The kitchen is equipped with 2 ovens, a microwave, sink and refrigerator. It also has a section set up for crock pots. We have a bag of ice in the freezer. Our group provides our own kitchen tools, plates, coffee, ice, dish soap etc. **PLEASE DO NOT use the church supplies in the kitchen cabinets. We can use pot holders. Thank you.
Bring your scrapbooking supplies. **See: “SUGGESTIONS: How to pack for a SS Crop”? under FILES. We have a few tips on bringing a few extras to help make your crop time more comfy.
5) And as always, bring a friend or two or three... all are welcome.

~This is my first crop with the group...what do I do? Come and have fun. You'll receive a warm welcome but most of all you'll meet new friends. Please feel free to walk around the crop room/Kimsey Hall and introduce yourself and share ideas. Our rectangular tables are set up in “pods”. Pods are 2 8 ft tables put together to make a square then one on the end-allowing 6 people sharing a “pod”. So all will get a 4ft. space! St. Alban’s provides us with Wi-Fi. The radio will be playing to provide “background noise”.

Closing: Our doors are locked at 10p no earlier no later. Please help us out with clean up by packing up by 9:30p so we can move tables, chairs back, trash out to dumpster, and room vacuumed at 9:45p.

*Monthly Newsletter: Our monthly newsletter is posted under FILES after each crop to always keep you informed on current and future crop events. As soon as we know of changes (crop dates or times, etc.) we will inform you on the message board and or on the monthly newsletter. Our Garage Sale rules and requirements are here as well.

**St. Alban’s:
We may park in the grassy area and the paved area. NO parking in the loading and unloading Courtyard. The door to Kimsey Hall (our crop room) is behind the Jesus Statue in the courtyard.

*Please keep in mind we are renters so be careful when driving up and out of the courtyard to load and unload as not to damage any of the landscape.

Thank you for your help.

~This is a non-profit group-each of us volunteers our time in planning, organizing, setting up tables, taking out trash, shop for supplies, cleaning the room and kitchen, etc. We are open to your thoughts, ideas, suggestions and help. Remember this is YOUR group.

Our motto!
**Making FRIENDS, while making MEMORIES!**

See you at the next crop!

I used to belong to the Sunshine Scrappers a decade ago before I moved to South Florida. I loved the crops! Where else can you go to a crop for a low cost and make friends.
If you're hesitant, sign up and go. You'll have a great time!

Oohh Cindy I think I will be able to go to the expo! Yay! There is a scrapbook event this weekend in Deerfield beach I am going to try to pop in on....I think it is a garage sale/crop/event. There was a local store called Cherry Blossom down the street from me that had garage sales every couple months but they became an online only store. Well now they rent out a space a few times a year to have a garage sale/crop...I didn't sign up for the crop but I am going to go shop!

I am going to stop by the garage sale tomorrow though even though I didn't sign up for any crops I can always shop! I get emails from them from time to time so I can let you know next time they mention any.

For those in the Jacksonville/ Orange Park area there is an lss garage sale at Pictures in Time (near Fleming Island). What did everyone think of CK? It was much smaller than last year which was much smaller than the year before. The convention landscape has definitely changed. There also were fewer people walking around then in the two years prior. I still had a great time and picked up some goodies but I seriously doubt that they will continue with the convention here.
