This was in my inbox this morning:

As you know, magazine publishing has been rapidly evolving. More and more information is available online where inspiration is immediate, up-to-date and easy to use and share. For the last several issues, the full version of Paper Crafts magazine has been available to you in digital format with a smaller, companion print version.

I'm delighted to share that, starting in January, Paper Crafts magazine is now going to be published monthly in a digital-only format. This new monthly format means we will be able to bring you the latest trends, advice, techniques and inspiration faster than ever!

We're also changing the name of our magazine to Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking, to reflect the addition of memory-keeping and photo-based features in each issue. You'll continue to enjoy the same paper crafting inspiration you love...with even more in the new monthly Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking.

Although the November/December issue will be the last one in print, subscribers will continue to receive Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine in digital format and will get two issues for every one issue left in each subscription.

And Creating Keepsakes will follow right behind it. That's one of the reasons I'm not renewing CK. The writing is on the wall.

I am really disappointed with this, for a few reasons.

First, I only have access to dial-up at home. This is something else I'll have to try to download to pdf at work & transfer.

Second, I like having actual magazines to take on vacation. I don't like taking my tablet to the beach/poolside.

Third (& the biggest problem), I've tried downloading their digital info that's available with my print subscription & haven't been able to access it. My account is linked, and that's been confirmed, but still can't get the content to download.

ETA: Guess it's a good thing my current sub is done around Feb/March. I won't miss too many of the issues I have coming to me. Also, I just checked my e-mail & haven't received this notification yet.

I kind of figured that was going to happen....CK will definitely be next. Are there any print magazines out there anymore?

CK made the announcement this morning too, so you were all right.

That paper crafts and scrapbooking digital mag will be the only magazine available.

The November/December issue will be the last issue of CK

Makes perfect since to me. ts nearly 2014 we are in a new age of technology, this should be expected. And, clutter freaks me out so housing all those magazines were really getting to me, I gave them all away and I find my inspiration online, here on Two Peas, Pinterest, YouTube and digital magazines. So I totally on board with this. Besides, most of it was advertising and a bunch of repetitive topics.

I have zero interest in a digital version. I have over 1000 unread blogs in Feedly at present and I like to have a physical magazine when I am waiting to pick up my kids. I wonder if we will be able to get money back for subscriptions that end after January or if we will just be compensated as stated in the letter?

Bleh. Not happy

ETA: I'm on the computer 10 hours a day for work; I don't want to read a magazine on a screen. I want to lay it out and reference it whilst scrapbooking.

Change is always there. At first I hated the thought, but then I became more familiar with my tablet, and now I prefer it. I hated reading Northridge magazines (Scrapbook Trends, etc.) on their web viewer, but their new app is a much better experience. I just hope that CK and this new PC&S magazine will put together a GOOD digital experience and not crap.

It makes a HUGE difference in whether readers are willing to adapt and adopt the new technology if the experience is user friendly. If you just throw it out there like an old bone, it's not going to work well, and you will alienate people who are not early adopters, which is the majority of your readership (particularly, I'm willing to bet, in the crafting segment).

Anyway -- I'm sad about CK (lots of history there) but not that surprised. We knew it was coming. And I'm hoping for good things from the new one. I might resubscribe.

I doubt I'll subscribe. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I like magazines printed on PAPER. So much easier to read and take in my studio to sit next to me. I'm very disappointed because PC was the only magazine I bought regularly.

Scrapbook and Cards Today will continue with it's paper magazine.

Scrapbook & Cards Open Letter

And I'm not sure about Canadian Scrapbooker but I haven't heard they're planning on changing so maybe a little while longer? I sure hope neither do as I agree with you ladies. I spend enough time on the computer...would like a paper copy in hands

I'm not happy about this. I still have about a year left on my sub. I'm all for technology, but sometimes I need to give my eyes a rest from the computer and I like to browse through my paper magazines.
