I'm frustrated that I don't get enough picture made during the week. (I have a teenager and photo ops are limited enough.) I'm depressed because all I see are this beautiful completed ones. Someone please tell me I'm not alone with this.

Can you ask your teen to email you some of their cell phone photos? If you tell them how important it is to you, maybe they won't balk as much. It's fun to scrap the pictures they take themselves. I love scrapping the ones they take themselves.

Hope they do that for you!

You might think about not following the weekly process as well. It seems like a lot of us put pressure our ourselves to do it weekly and although you might like to, sometimes it just won't work for your circumstances. These are your memories so although PL is set up to be a weekly thing, you don't have to use it that way. I love the idea about asking your daughter for her pics though, that would give you such a fun and different perspective into her world

You are definitely not alone! I don't take enough photos, either. So far this year I have about 4 or 5 weeks that I had no photos - I either left those weeks out or put in a PP and a journaling pocket saying what we did. Other weeks I combined where there were just a few pics. Some of my weeks are photos of one event. And I am totally ok with that. It's a mixed kind of eclectic thing that really reflects my eclectic, random life.

I love the idea of borrowing pics from your children. Also, perhaps challenge yourself to see the ordinary - the view around you every day changes and evolves and while we miss it, the camera lens catches it. Elise Blaha Cripe is a great example of this - she photographs much of the same things, ie her coffee cup, her view out the window, her desk, etc etc. And what she is documenting is not necessarily the coffee cup, but the changes that are occurring around it.

Why do weekly? Too much pressure. Just incorporate what you have and don't stress over getting a picture of everything, everyday, every moment. I don't do PL for that reason alone, but I do incorporate the divided page protectors to my traditional scrapbooking when I want to include more photos. I have a busy 11th grade girl who plays 3 sports, church activities, volunteers alot and she is SICK OF, really.....SICK OF me and my camera and frankly I don't blame her one bit. So I get what I can get and call it a day.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13

I find it sad that people still have this notion that PL is about taking a photo a day. PL is a brand of products to be used as you see fit. Make it work for you. Scrapbooking for most of us is just a hobby. It should be fun.

PL is a brand of products that you can use however you want. Sounds like you are trying to do Project 365/photo a day/week in review. Personally that is too hard for me even as a busy mom to young kids with lots of photo ops. I use PL to do a month in review album. I use what ever photos I have and make as many or as few pages as I need. My photos are chrono by Month but within the month I group them as they make sense together not by date. If it is not working for you change it!

I guess my main problem is being behind and feeling bad about it.

That's why I do it in a monthly format! I could never keep up with it weekly and I don't keep up with it all that well monthly but it's easy to catch up when I'm ready.

I'm 'behind' as well, and don't have a lot of photos to work with. But a PL-style project is something that I really want to use to document the fleeting things of our lives. So I'm working with what I have and focussing on writing down the details - not so much what we do, as the sayings and songs my boys are into. I'm also trying to remember to keep some of the ephemera of our lives.

I think if you are feeling bad about it maybe PL isn't for you, because it should bring enjoyment not frustration or bad feelings. I would go with a monthly layout and use photo prompts, that you can find on pinterest, to fill in for months where you may not have as many photos.

Yes, make PL what you want it to be! Is it about documenting every aspect of your week or capturing the highlights? This is a hobby so feeling guilt is not necessary. Make PL what you want it to be! I am doing a baby album but, not doing every little aspect of the week but the special moments, and the. Taking the time to journal!

I also got really frustrated with the whole process and idea of "PL" and not being able to keep up with picture taking.
My new approach is to just now do how much I want when I feel like it. I'm not calling it anything like "Project Life" or "Project 365" or anything like that. I'm just calling it "putting stuff and photos into pockets"
There's no more rhyme or reason to my spreads, just putting in whatever info feels good at the time.
Last week I just did two 4x6 cards with some journaling I wanted to get written down. I slid those into some pockets and will put the photos that go with the journaling in when I get those printed. No sketching, no pre-planning, no stress!
I do hope you find something that works for you.

I had to create 3,5 months of project life in August and I did it...now I have to create 4 weeks...you can create the weeks if it is possible. Take pictures of your everyday life. All family members has to take some pictures around the week and you can decide with come in your PL. Don't take it too serisously!

I have one completed PL album that contains some of my favorite photos from the past four years- no rhyme or reason whatsoever. I really enjoy it for the pics I like but don't want to take the time to scrap my usual way. I say throw the typical PL rules away, if they don't work for you, and make it your own

Maybe rephrase it to be Project Us......only do a spread when something worthy happens.

That way there are no weeks to feel behind about.

I love the smell of card stock in the morning.....

The Movie poster that is my avatar is very special cause my husband is in it and it won best film at the Canadian Film Festival in 2012. See it......It's super funny.

I just started PL. I am doing one for each of my step children to document the times we have together. 3 of them live with their mother and she is great to facebook me pics to use in their albums. The one 13 year old is now getting into sports so I have pics of him. But there are months I have no photos so I am not gonna stress. I will document what I have and move on.

I use my PL modular pages as an extension to my 'normal' pages. I love taking a million photos whenever we go somewhere, and until I got some PL protectors so many photos weren't being used. Now I can use them all! I make my normal page and add the leftover pics to the PL page.

These are such good ideas and comforting words. I'm going to keep working with PL, just not ON PL, if that makes sense.

Worth repeating!

If your hobby, be it scrapping or anything else, makes you depressed/stressed/sad you're doing it wrong, as they say

Today, I will be colouring outside the lines.

Why switch then? I think PL works for people who were looking to do some type of weekly project or pare down their traditional scrapbooking. If that's not you, then I don't think you need to "switch" from traditional scrapbooking.

And why do you need lots of pictures of your teenage daughter to do the album? Unless she has asked you to make a PL album about her, I would just get whatever pics of her you can get and then focus your camera and energy on other aspects of your life that you want to document.
