I have kept scrapbooks of one form or fashion all my life. I've got several in my cedar chest, purchased from Hallmark and almost everything put in there with tape or rubber cement! Egad. I have a box in my night stand with greeting cards, little cards you get with your flowers, ticket stubs, and a notebook full of inspirational e-mails and such. But they're scattered everywhere. I love the Smash book concept, but I've resisted because you can't add pages.

Well, today, me and my 40% off coupon went to Michaels. I found a large Recollections journal kit that has all of these great cardstock pages and some embellishments and best of all, it's a 3 ring binder style!! Oh, the possibilities! I got a pack of Recollections "essentials distressed" cardstock to go along with it!! And now I've got to sit through 2 1/2 more hours of work and an hour of dance class before I can dig in!!

Starting a new project just makes me happy. (So does finishing an old one!!)

Nice!
I found that Recollections Brand, 12x12, months ago for 5.99 on clearance. Then, I found another one that I believe was marked wrong, but she gave me the exact same one for .79!!! It has pink binding on the edge...it's very girly. I intended to kind of use it for my goddaughter, but I might just use one for me! I also started SMASHing, and I just put whatever, but I haven't been keeping up with it.

Good for you!

I definitely feel you on this Metaldancer. I recently made my own Smashbook from cardstock, binder rings, and a hole puncher. It's been incredibly nice to give my miscellaneous ephemera and memories a home of their own!

I am clicking the pretend like button. I am doing my first modern Smash book too. I am so excited about it. I use to do Smash books before they were Smash many years ago. I loved it.

You made me smile with your Hallmark scrapbook memory. I loved going to Hallmark and picking out my Scrapbooks. I would buy my rubber cement with excitement. I know some of the girls are fainting about this rubber cement thing, lol.

You know it's still kind of weird to me buying scrapbooks at craft stores. I keep thinking I need to buy them at Hallmark.

I really like those Recollections binders. I like Smashbooks, too, but the 3-ring binder style is a lot more freeing, like you said, You can swap in your own papers more easily. I bought an adorable smaller binder a couple of months ago (it's got a flowered, almost calico-looking spine) that I plan to put some of my childhood photos in. Very 1970s!

Have fun with your new scrapbook!
