Hi all, I am going to be moving my craft space to an area that is a bit more visible (our mudroom) to convert our office to a bedroom. I have a small child and need scrap storage solutions that can be enclosed as little hands will pull everything out of open areas. I have looked at the expedit but not sure I want to purchase individual drawers for it. I have an old dresser that I use right now but it doesn't seem to be the right piece for it's new space.

I need your ideas!
Thanks.

I bought some unfinished kitchen pantries from Lowes and stained/painted them myself. You can add hardware to lock them if you want.

I just got two of the Expedit (4x4 size) units and have some with drawers. Love them, but unlike revirdsuba's pictures (the link for Doors and Baskets), my Cropper Hopper paper storage does NOT fit. I've heard that it's only the newer CH boxes that do, although some folks have cut theirs down. Not sure I want to bother as I have about seven of them and they're thick and tough plastic.

I went to Ikea and got the Hemnes secretary desk with add on hutch to give me desk and storage that could be completely closed up. I needed storage and desk space that could be closed up and appear tidy when visitors come. Here is a link:

Secretary and hutch from Ikea

I wanted the Scrapbox but couldn't afford either that much money or that much space devoted to scrapping storage. This was an acceptable alternative.

I absolutely love it, and it looks nice, too!

Scrap 'n Cube has drawers, doors, slats, anything you want to make it. Best $$ I have ever spent and my top scrappy purchase! I have moved it 3x and it still looks brand new. It will last longer than my lifetime.

Barney when searching for best craft unit I came up with best craft organizer, is this it? I love these as well as the scrap and cube...a big investment but glad to hear they hold up well! I don't think the secretary desk would be nearly big enough, the desk or the storage space but I could find some add ons for it! Thanks, I would love to see more!

I love my Ikea Billy bookcases with doors, they are not deep enough for albums and cropper hopper paper files ( I use Jetmax for that) but they hold tons of stuff and look super sleek and unintrusive. I got the white Billy's with white glass door. Even my family likes them, which is good as my scrap room is the open plan dining room : )

I have (and love) the IKEA Besta units with doors. Customizable and adjustable shelves that can accommodate the old Cropper Hopper paper holders and my WRMK Scrapbooks. Note: the scrapbooks need to be placed on a shelf without doors.

I'm still a huge fan of the white Crop n' Style cubes. I have a ton of them and have reconfigured my room numerous times with them - SO versatile. Much sturdier than JetMax so these get my vote.

I have two cabinets similar to this one from Walmart. It may not be pretty but it is deep enough to store my 12 by 12 albums and paper pads, and a lot more. The handle is pretty high up so little hands should not be able to reach it. You can also put something on the handle so it can't be pulled open easily, something like a ruler stuck in the handle would probably work.

I also have decorated mine with vinyl to make it look better.
