I finished my Disney album tonight except I still have to make the title page.
I was just looking through my pictures on a CD to make sure I used all the ones that I really loved.
In all the pics I took - I only have ONE blurry one of my daughter in the hotel.
At that time, we didn't have the Disney channel and she LOVED watching Hannah Montana in the room.
And all I got was one lousy, blurry picture.

I could kick myself!
I also talk in my album about the snacks we love but I didn't really get any pics of them.

So I'm making a list of "not to miss" pics for our third trip, next year!

- in the room
- at the pool (I got none. Wow)
- gift shops
- snacks
- each one of our meals

One thing I'm not concerned about is getting pics on the actual rides because 1) they're rarely good and 2) you can actually find printable pics of all the rides online. I am talking about the indoor, dark ones. Of course I have to get that Dumbo shot!!

So what are some not to miss pics on your Disney list?

Yeah pics of the kids in the hotel room jumping on the beds is something I forgot. One day it would be nice to look back at them just being kids.

Have a great day!

Hmmm.... I never took any pics of them getting their pins for their lanyards and that was a pretty significant thing for them at 10 and 7. They were all about the trading. Wish I took more pics on the actual rides but at some point you have to put down the camera and be in the moment. I have one great shot of them walking on the boulevard away from the park on our last day which will be my final page. Glad I took it even though their faces were sad and tired it still tells the story.

Definitely the pins and lanyard trading, esp w/characters.
I WISH I'd taken more pics on the rides. Splash Mountain had a funny story for us and for some reason we did not purchase the pics (I think I was too traumatized after the ride, lol).
I also thought I had a pic of my Dad w/Goofy (his favorite character) and I didn't.
I felt that I had too many of the animals in Animal Kingdom and they did not really come out very well.
I got pics of DH and the kids watching a parade, but not of the parade itself.

Just more pictures with me in them. There is so much rushing around, it's hard to get everyone to stop and pose for a nice picture.

The pictures in front of the castle are littered with so many people in the background that I end up not liking it at all. There are places on the side of the castle that are better.

Have you ever listened to the Capturing Magic podcast? It is all about taking photos at Disney. It is done by Steph who also does The Digi Show podcast.

She also has an app to help capture all your photos. I think it reminds you when you're in the park.

Definitely have to 2nd the comment about not enough pics with me in it. I realized while putting together an album about my late father that he was always the photographer so not many photos of him. At the time you think no big deal, I don't like getting my pic taken anyways but it takes on a whole new significance for your children later in life especially once you're gone. Luckily my DH grabs the camera from me once in awhile and reminds me to get in there.

In the 10 years we have been, I think I have taken at least 4,000 pictures. I love them all (but I didn't scrap more than 250 per trip).

Around year #4 I was thinking that I had too many of the kids and DH in the same position at Rainforest Cafe, Pirates, etc...but in 2008 I took another set of photos of them standing in the same location and made a 2 page LO of "then and now" and I love it. Same place, different years to see the growth in them.

I have a picture of the feet of strangers on the bus-- everyone was exhausted riding back to the resort, I put my camera near the ground and snapped (without flash of course). It's a favorite because it helps tell the story of riding Disney transportation, exhaustion, shopping bags, going back to swim and recharge, etc.

I don't regret NOT getting a picture, because I am always thinking what do I want to remember, or what makes this "quintessential Disney". And I take the picture.

My family and I went to walt disney world in February of 2012 and we took photopass pictures in front of all of the parks centerpieces (cinderella castle, tree of life, the epcot ball and the sorcerers hat). Well we went back in December of 2012 and took pictures in front of all of them again except for the sorcerer's hat in hollywood studios! I always like to start out each park section with those photopass photos, so I was really kicking myself!!!

For those with older kids, with their own phones, why not encourage the kids to take some photos. That way there will probably be photos of everyone and you may get to glimpse the Magic Kingdom through you child's eyes.

Another thought, if you are worried about your kids losing their phone, or if they don't have one, why not get them each one of those disposable cameras.

On my last trip to Disney I took a picture of our shadows on the ground with our Mickey ears. It turned out great and was my last page in the album. I was able to journal directly onto the photo which was neat. I will always now remember to take that shot (cause of course I am going to Disney again in Feb for the Princess Half Marathon).

More pictures with people in them (including me). But some of my favorites are the little things - Hidden Mickeys, signs, store windows. I like taking pictures of the light fixtur
es and the carpeting. Weird I know, but there is so much detail in there that can easily get overlooked.

My camera doesn't take very good night photos so I am always sad that I don't have many photos after dark, especially this trip when after dark, we rode Matterhorn with my dad (grandpa). I will probably just scrapbook the memory using a photo I find online of Harold (my favorite Yeti! =P)

For those of you wanting ride photos, try looking at the threads on Micechat.com http://micechat.com/forums/disneyland-resort/152377-daily-disneyland-photo-sharing-thread.html is just one of the threads from Disneyland that shares pictures but there are several others.

Love love love WDW and go frequently and have thousands of photos. There are always shots I wish I had taken. I wish I had more of my 1st trip with my kids. Camera malfunction! Anyway, it's hard to capture every moment when you are trying to "live" the moment.

Sometimes "that" moment seems more important after you get home and start to reflect on the trip. I try not to always worry about every little Kodak while there and just enjoy. Much easier done when you go as often as I do.

DIS boards have some great Disney photography threads if anyone wants ideas though!

I'll have to try this. This also reminded me that I never got mickey ears before! I will definitely get them next year when we return and try a shadow photo. TFS!

Definitely more pictures with people in them. On our last trip I have great ride pictures, but then none of us at/in/with the ride. Makes it more fun to scrap when I have people pictures.

I agree! I really love the pics with my family more than just scenery but my daughter gets tired of smiling for me.

I love the shadow picture idea!!

I'd like to get more photos with the characters - but alas, my family doesn't want to....
