I really, really do. I've been looking online for inspiration (here and everywhere!) and it seems like so many of the new layouts people create, while beautiful, are just not something I would do (aka not my style).

Who are your favorite simple scrappers? Do any of them post here? If so, I would love to see them!

ETA: if there were other threads recently about this same subject, please link them here!

Me too!!!!!!! I agree with you 100%.

Here are a few scrappers I like who would have fit in well in Simple. Their style is a bit more detailed than we think of for Simple but still super clean and very scrapliftable! Great lines and color...

Nancy Damiano
Lisa Dickinson
Summer Fullerton

I also really love manufacturer blogs. For instance, the Simple Stories blog features a lot of clean, well-designed layouts. They are focused on December Daily right now but if you'll skip past those posts a few days, you'll see some great layouts!

Do you know about www.writeclickscrapbook.com? It's comprised of a lot of former contributors to Simple Scrapbooks and is always a run read.

I loved Simple. It was the only mag I sought out.

Anyway, Jody Wenke is still posting clean and simple layouts.

I miss them too. My scrapping style is stuck in 2006/2007.

A scrapper, I've noticed recently

Long time fan of Jodi Wenke and PaperClips29 can get so many pictures on a page, and still make the design simple and clean.

Me too! Unfortunately I only discovered it just as they were getting ready to end. I bought several back issues from my local store and I will keep them forever.

I regularly cull all my other scrapbooking magazines but am happy to say that I own every single copy of Simple Scrapbooks.
Even though paper, embellishments and trends may change I still love looking through them.

Yes! Miss all of those too....there was nothing better than a good "mail" day, when you found a new magazine waiting for you inside! Amazing all those days are gone already, I don't like online mags either. By the way, only remember the lady who ran the Simple magazine and used to be on QVC, a lovely host,...and think she lost her son, named Spencer? But I never did hear what had happened to him, but always bothered me how sad it was as he was only in his late teens or early 20's. Does anybody know what happened to him?? Remember Lisa talking about it online, and I think on QVC.

I know exactly what you mean. I've been out of the scrapbooking loop for several years... I was in grad school 2010-2012, started a new job in 2012, my dad passed away in January, and I just started scrapbooking again a few months ago.

I'm trying to "rediscover" my style, and finding that I while there are lots of cool new things that have come along in the past 3-4 years, for me, I really prefer that "Simple Scrapbooks"/Cathy Z. style.

I think the pages with lots of embellishments, and lots of patterned paper are beautiful, but they aren't really my style.

Sigh...ah the memories! I loved SS, it was probably my favourite mag. I just have to share a little story...I was so excited way back in the day to get a call from SS asking me if I would do a few assigned pages for an upcoming issue they were working on. I made the LOs and eventually when the mag came out and I flipped through to find my work, I was in the page directly opposite to my scrapping hero...Cathy Zielske! I tried to explain how totally cool this was to a number of non scrapbookers; they didn't get it.

Anyway, aside from Cathy Z, someone I have always admired for her beautiful, yet realistic LOs is Kelly Goree. She posts in the gallery here is a link:

I kept the final issue and was looking through it today, getting all nostalgic.

I guess Project Life can be considered semi-simple, but then I start looking at people's PL pages and a lot of those are not "simple" either. But, I love them and won't stop looking.

Anyway, thanks for all the recommendations! I'm off to peruse some blogs/galleries!

Me too... it was my favorite. I still have all my SS magazines. Wouldn't it be great if they revived the mag since now there's no competition? Wishful thinking.

Some great simple scrappers:

- Many of the Write.Click.Scrapbook. team members (check out the galleries and links to the team members' blogs)
- Cathy Zielske
- Susan Ko (scroll back through the archives for some amazing traditional LOs)
- Simple Scrapper team members
- Jamaica Edgell - Awesome PL and DD ideas; usually CAS and GAL
- Jody Wenke , a Pea and very talented CAS scrapper
- Summer Fullerton
- Nancy Damiano
- Lisa Dickinson
- Allison Davis
- Kelly Noel
- Scrapbook Generations
- Deana Boston
- Nicole Martel
- Simple Aussie Girls
- Linda Barber
- Jennifer Larson
- Kelly Goree
- Grace Tolman
- Angie Lucas
- Susan Weinroth
- Suzanna Lee (sometimes does CAS pages)
- Jamie Harder (sometimes does CAS pages - gorgeous LOs either way!)
- Mary Ann Jenkins
- Laura Kurz
- Monica Coffman
- Jen Ritchie
- Pip Prosser
- Also, keep an eye on the manu blogs - Bella Blvd, Fancy Pants, Jillbean Soup, BasicGrey, and Pebbles Inc. all frequently feature CAS pages
- I have a CAS/GAL Pinterest board with tons of inspiration, if you'd like to check it out.

Great thread! I second the suggestions already posted and would add Scrapbook and Cards Today magazine to the list. You can purchase a paper subscription or download an online version - for free!!

This magazine has excellent articles and I would say most of the layouts are more to the clean and simple side.

alone_inacrowdedroom THANK YOU for including me on that list of people that definitely inspire ME as well! I can honestly say that I'm very hit & miss these days with scrapbooking & blogging. It kind of bums me out too. Need to get my mojo back. And I agree with you all on missing Simple Scrapbooks mag, as well as other paper crafting mags. Seems like the paper edition is now a thing of the past. Thankfully, I've saved (hoarded? LOL) most of my magazines so maybe I should flip back through them one of these days to get inspired again. No sense keeping them if I'm not really going to use them!! LOL Thanks again...

I was a huge fan of Simple Scrapbooks.

Where the Simple Scrapbooks team are now:

Stacy Julian, Angie Lucas, Wendy Smedley, Cathy Zielske, Elizabeth Dillow are over at Big Picture Classes.

Lisa Dickinson, Emily Pitts, Celeste Smith, and Paula Gilarde are over at Masterful Scrapbook Design.

Oh, man, I wish they would publish again! Thankfully I saved all my issues from 2007 to the end, so I look through them all the time. One of my biggest regrets is donating the issues from 2002-2005 that Id bought from ebay, so now Im recollecting at used bookstores to complete my set
