Does anyone here still do "regular" scrap booking?

I know, to each their own and who is to say what is regular, but hopefully you know what I mean.I mean as opposed to things like (not sure I have the name right)Project life. I'm just not a big fan. It reminds me of sbing like the old creative memories stuff. So does anyone use 12x12 pages with several pictures, patterned paper , titles, etc., or is that considered old school?

I do. I've never done project life, dd or anything like that. I have a smaller smash book, but haven't used that either.

I have been kicking the idea around of using pocket pages with regular layouts in an album, but haven't done anything as yet.

I still do 12 x 12 regular pages. I did do Project Life last year but decided not to do it this year.

I do. I did PL when it first came out for one year and haven't done it since. It was fun, but I prefer to play with my papers and stuff.

I do. And honestly, while it seems like everyone is doing Project Life, there are still a lot of people scrapbooking the traditional way.

For example, the Garden Girl videos showcase a lot of traditional. There is a weekly PL video, but there are a ton more regular page videos. Glitter Girl has said time and time again, she has some PL type stuff, but uses it on normal pages.

Lots of people do both types. I have some Project Life type pages. But in the last 3 months, I've made almost 40 traditional pages, but 0 PL type pages. I'm just feeling the traditional way right now.

The message board skews talk, because most people ask for help on new things here. So there are a ton of PL questions because it is new. And most people are like me, we just plug away at making our traditional pages and don't feel the need to talk about them.

Of course I still do "regular" scrapbooking. Project Life has never appealed to me, and I just don't take enough pictures to ever make that work. I love patterned paper backgrounds and stamping directly onto them. And...I just cannot do a layout without a title.

I love mini books and art journaling, but regular 12x12 pages are what I consistently do, and none of it is digital.

I do.
I own a couple of PL core kits and use it on my 12*12 pages, or combine divided page protectors in my albums, but I don't do a weekly/monthly project life.
I don't know if it's old school or not, I've been scrapbooking for about two years now. I do what makes me happy

I do both. I love love love the process of creating a traditional 12 x 12 layout and will never stop doing them. But I recently had an epiphany. I came home from a trip with lots and lots of photos and the thought of scrapping them all was overwhelming. So I bought a project life kit and I'm using that for my trip album. I can still satisfy my creative side by embellishing some of the pockets but the entire process is so much easier and I can include so many more photos. I also incorporate some PL type pages in my regular albums. For example, I recently scrapped by granddaughters first Homecoming dance. By inserting a pocket page between my two page layout I was able to include many more pictures.
But, having said that, project life on a daily or even weekly basis? No thanks. Way too stressful.

Of course!
I just think so many are excited about PL right now so that is why you see so many threads about it.
There are tons of us that just do "regular" pages.

So does anyone use 12x12 pages with several pictures, patterned paper , titles, etc
that sums it up for me.

or is that considered old school?
If it is, then I'm happy to be an old fashioned girl.

Earlier this year I started a divided page album, but I'm not using PL products, just my stash, and it has some regular pages in there too. To be honest - I don't like the pocket page style and don't really enjoy doing it. I've only done up to June and I'm in 2 minds now as to whether I stop and redo the divided pages as regular ones, or keep going and finish what I started.

But I can see the benefit of PL for busy mums with young kids, those who work outside the home etc - buy a ready made kit and slot everything into the pockets - it would be a good time saver for them.

I've also never done DD or made a mini album, smash book or art journal. Just plain ol' scrapping is what I love most.

I do! But I hope to incorporate some PL soon. There are far too many pictures to traditionally scrapbook. As an adult, my family has no written stories, and I wish we talked more and I often feel at a loss of memory. So, I want to document the now and what I may remember of the past so that my kids (when I have them) will have something to read or know or remember about their family. [error_in_color:] [/color]

I'm definitely still a "regular" scrapper, too. I did Project Life the first year it was out, but more as a challenge and to document our everyday life at the time. Now the only thing I'm doing that is a bit more out of the box is a pregnancy mini-album. Makes it easier to jot down all of the little things that I don't want to forget without the pressure of a full 12x12 layout each time.

I do PL, but it's a separate entity and I am definitely a 'regular' scrapper - and have the closet full of supplies to prove it.

I absolutely love creating my 12x12 pages and could never give it up and go 100% pocket pages. Never.

Yep. I'm a regular scrapper too - both paper and digital. I've never done PL either. If my kids were small I would probably give it a go, but I'm pretty sure that if I did an album like that now, you'd be bored after flipping through the first couple of pages! LOL. I did recently buy two different types of pocket pages because I think I like the idea of putting those types of layouts in my albums. But right now I'm too busy trying to get my Christmas cards done so I haven't even opened the packages! Hopefully one day soon!

I guess I am super traditional cause I do mostly 2 page layouts with a ton of photos that are mostly all matted and with "gasp" STICKERS....lol.

I am going to be adding some divided pages to my Disney 2012 album cause we went with my hubby's entire family and everyone had a camera so too many to scrap but many I will want to add. I have a thing where I only want to scrap my wn pics so the others will be in pocket pages.

I love the smell of card stock in the morning.....

The Movie poster that is my avatar is very special cause my husband is in it and it won best film at the Canadian Film Festival in 2012. See it......It's super funny.

Yes! I do 12x12 pages almost exclusively, each with a title and journalling. I have started in the best year doing the divided page protector thing with multiple photos to get some other ones in that work well with the page(s) I created about an event or story. Previous to the re-invent of pocket pages I just used simple stories collection to divide up the page with the extra photos.

I don't do PL and I don't use 12 X 12 anymore. I've been using 8.5 X 11 for years now and prefer the smaller page for two reasons. I don't take pictures of my pages, I use a scanner and the size is easy and quicker to scan. Also, I couldn't afford albums so I put all my pages in school binders for $2 a pop. I've probably saved hundreds on albums. Maybe thousands.

I've never done PL. Not because I don't like, I just haven't tried it. I do traditional 12 x 12 paper scrapping. I've done digital scrapping, but I don't like it as much. I prefer to touch and feel real paper and real embellishments.

At the next virtual crop, I'll be sitting next to PhotobearSam with my 2 page layouts with mats and stickers AND I'll be working on CM pages! Oh the horror!

BUT I love to use my cricut. I occasionally blow up a 5x7 photo. And I use embellishments that aren't too thick. I'm not trendy, but I enjoy what I make. Oh well...I do it for me.

Yes, yes, yes! It is my favorite!!

I started doing Project Life and a picture a day to go with it and did that for three years. I got so tired of it, so this year I moved to a photo a week with journaling. And next year, I am planning just to do a month in review that I will include in my 12x12 albums. I love "traditional" scrapbooking!!!

I'm a traditional 12x12 scrapper with simple, linear, story-focused, extensive journaling, cardstock-based, actual memorabilia, & 4x6-photo layouts! Over the years, I've incorporated 8.5x11 & divided (usually 4x6 vertical or horizontal) page protectors to include extra photos or memorabilia (e.g. certificates, awards, report cards, playbill, correspondence). PL brand journaling cards (from dividing a few PL core & mini kits with two other scrappers & purchasing four theme card packs) are among my supplies that are used on traditional layouts. HTH & happy scrapping!

I still do traditional scrapbooking because PL isn't my style. PL doesn't bother me though, neither do the threads I skip right on over them. With this hobby there is so many varieties and styles and none of them are the wrong way. Each person does what appeals to them. I believe though there is a lot of people who still prefer the traditional way. I think many have tried PL to try but then went back to regular scrabooking. PL seems to be a huge commitment and for me I like to scrapbook at my own pace. In the end though it's exciting just to see this hobby still going strong and having a place to talk about anything that has to do with this hobby.

I do traditional scrapbooking all the time. I have also been doing PL this year, but I don't plan to continue after this year because traditional scrapbooking is more fun to me. Most of the 2 pea garden girl videos feature 12x12 layouts so there is plenty of inspiration for traditional scrapbooking on this site. And I agree with other posters - people ask alot of questions about PL on the board, so it seems like it's the only thing people are doing and plus there is a lot of energy from manufacturers wanting to sell PL related stuff - but I think most scrapbookers are still doing all or mostly traditional pages.

I do, except I scrap 8.5x11". Most of what I do is traditional pages because pocket pages don't give me enough room to tell the story most of the time. I do use pocket pages in my albums, but tend to use them for photos without stories, quotes, ephemera, and small stories to which I don't want to dedicate an entire page.

I am 12x12 girl at heart! I do make mini albums and I bought some PL cards but use those on my 12x12 pages or in the mini albums.

This is me too! I like the different size cards and have been using the divided page protectors for a while, but that's as close as I will ever get to project life.

I do it all...12x12, digital, mini-books. I did start Project Life, but I got behind. I love what someone else suggested; do PL with the cards etc. but just do it of random stuff in your life. Basically, don;t get caught up in having photos of ever day or organizing by week, month. Just do it, as Nike says.

(no snark) I'm curious to know why you'd think no one is doing traditional scrapping. When I look in the gallery I don't see a single LO with a divided page protector on the first page. I know that there is a lot of talk about that type of scrapping on this board but that doesn't mean people have given up on traditional scrapping.
Is it the topic of board posts that makes it appear to you that everyone is only using divided page protectors for scrapping? Something else?

I'm photographing a 53 page Disney album to share later today. It is 12x12 "old-school."

I would say most people on this site do "regular scrapbooking." It's just Project Life is new and people still like to talk about it a lot! Including me!
