My printer died today while trying to scrap! I was so disappointed that I just turned off my work lights and left the room. I fianlly got a chance to do some scrapping and no printer!

So now I'm on a search for a new printer! Any suggestions? I want a printer that prints photos beautifully, but I don't want it to cost me an arm and a leg! I really like the option of the large format printers but I may have to settle for a basic 8 1/2 X 11 for now. I am NOT buying another HP for sure!! Haven't really used any other brands so any suggestions are welcome!! Thanks in advance!!!

I'll be watching this thread with interest, since mine is on it's last legs. The printing is smudged and missing in places. I've tried cleaning, changing ink, the whole 9 yards and I think it's just had it.

I LOVE my Canon Pixma Pro 9500 Mark II. It's been going strong for 18 months, doesn't waste ink, and prints beautiful photos - I use it for all my Project Life stuff.

I wrote a review about it:

Canon Pixma Pro review

The new version is the Pro-100, I think, and it seems to be exactly the same

My second HP died a couple weeks ago and I decided that I was finished with HP and needed to try a new brand. I ordered the Canon Pixma Pro 100 and it is amazing!!! In addition to printing great photos, it has the ability to print documents up to 13" by 19". So now I can journal right on my 12x12 paper, yeah!!! Lots of places have rebates on this printer now. I purchased mine from B&H Photo and there is a $300 rebate so the final cost is $99.

ETA: the only down side that I can see to this printer (I have just had it a few days) is the size. It is really big!! and heavy!

I had a Cannon that I LOVED and it lasted me over 5 years. I was in the same boat, I was in the middle of scrapping and it started to print wrong, adding lines, I tried everything to fix it, changed all the ink, so anyway, that same day said I'm going to buy a new one and I got an Epson. Never again, I have hated the stupid thing since I bought it and should have taken it back. I will be buying a new one again as I've dealt with this Epson for a year now and it sucks through ink like you would not believe, I am all for Cannon

Great timing on this post. I am desperate for a new printer and very confused by my research LOL.

It looks as though the new model of the Canon now has wireless? Had anyone purchased this version yet?

And those who already have the Canon, have you tried running actual cardstock through it and does it jam at all?

Thanks!

You all have talked me into the Canon Pixma for my next printer. Like Brickle, my 2nd printer was an Epson and it was awful. It cost a fortune in ink (where did all that ink go? - I didn't print that much with it). My next one was one of those "economic" Kodaks (HAH); even though the ink cartridges were cheaper, they didn't last as long.
So I'll be looking at the Canon. Thanks OP for asking this question. Maria

Oh you beat me to I was going to ask the same question. DH bought an Epson but of course didn't check with me and it won't run cardstock.

I just got my printer last night and I've only had time to print a test 4x6 photo so not sure about the card stock. It did print quickly and was quiet. I was just so excited that it worked!! Is is very big and heavy but my hp was big too. I don't mind though as long as it works!!!

Anandirc ha a review on an older model. (She has the link in the 5th post on this thread). Her's is not wireless but the pixma pro 100 is!! I was so excited about that feature.

Just thought I would update for anyone thinking about getting the Canon Pixma PRO-100.

I ordered from B&H and the delivery was fast and free. I ordered because of the rebate program. This is one big printer. I still have an old HP large format in another room and this Canon needs quite a bit more room. It was very heavy also.

I set it up today and the wireless was very easy to do. Also, I printed one 8x10 photo on the supplied luster paper and it looks very nice. I also printed some journaling on a 12x12 piece of Bazzill cardstock and that also printed without a problem. I mention this because I only tried the Bazzill because some Peas were wondering if cardstock would go through the printer.

That's my report. I sure hope this printer continues to work well, as my HP large format never did and I never looked forward to printing with it because inevitably there was some type of issue. The colors were wrong, the paper would not feed correctly or the printer would just print jibberish all over the page. I'll keep it hooked up for simple tasks like letter writing, but not for photo printing or craft related details.

Hope this review helps in some small way.

This thread is TOTALLY helpful! My printer died Friday night before a crop - I was up til after 1 am (and in tears) trying to figure out how to fix it and manually align the print heads. When I got to the crop the next morning, the girls just said my printer was dead and it's time for a new one. I have had a trusty Canon for almost 8 years and loved it! So sad! But I guess like all things, it just wore out. This thread is helping me know what to research (and what not to bother with again). Looks like I'll go Canon again!
